It's all about the location for this hotel, located literally right next to the Pantheon. It's in the historic old center part of town, and it's an excellent area for walking to and fro the churches, parks, historic landmarks, etc. The hotel room we had was a bit small and did not have the acclaimed balcony view that most people post pictures of, but […] we managed to find ourselves up on the top floor of the hotel with stunning views of the Pantheon and the rooftops of the city. The staff was wonderful and the breakfasts were more than average Euro breakfast. The girl that made our cappuchinos each morning was so pleasant. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and pleasant and the location is excellent. I was lucky enough to have a corner room which has much more room than the non-corner rooms do so that was good. The only downside is the price, quite high for the quality. It was a nice hotel but not really worth the price per night.

Very lovely old hotel in an excellent spot. Front desk staff was always prompt and helpful, and extremely pleasant. Even after the first day, the wait staff at breakfast knew our preferred beverages. I have been to Rome five times in the past 10 years. I have stayed in a different part of town every time I have visited. Albergo Del Senato is the best location and quality hotel I have yet to come across and I can recommend it without reservation. The staff was very congenial and helpful. The front desk fellows we dealt with were named Mauro and Luciano, and were friendly, helpful and a pleasure to work with. Whenever we had a question or needed help they were always patient and attentive. We greatly appreciated them and they made the quality of our stay much better. Our bed was a bit firm for our tastes and they had housekeeping put a nice, thick, soft matress cover on our bed which improved our sleep considerably. I would put in a request for a room facing the Pantheon if at all possible. They will not guarantee this but they will take it into consideration. Location of hotel is awesome. Close to everything. St Peters, Spanish Steps, Trevi, Navona, etc. The Piazza out front can be a little busy and noisy at night, but when our shutters and windows were closed, it was remarkably quiet. I am sensitive to nighttime noise and the room was very quiet at night. The bath was small but I have found this to be the case in any european hotel. My two children and I stayed here for a week. It was great! The room was nice (a triple) and the location was SUPERB! Be sure to go up on the rooftop, even in the winter. It is unreal and overlooks the Pantheon.

The hotel is in a prime location with our room overlooking the Pantheon. Although a bit small for the price, the room was nicely finished, furnished and clean. We got good dining recommendations from the front desk staff and enjoyed cocktails on the rooftop bar after a long day of sightseeing. Highly recommended.

This was a great hotel. Great location. Wonderful staff. Very good shape. Great breakfast. Small, but well appointed rooms. But the Wi-Fi connection is sooooo bad I rated it down. 5 years ago this wouldn't have mattered as much. But today there is no excuse for very poor Internet service in a hotel.

You can walk literally anywhere from here and it's location across from the Patheon was surreal. The view from the room or just sitting in the hotel reserved seating in front of the hotel was amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and they all spoke English. My only complaint would be that the breakfast wasn't exactly great but for European standards it was acceptable. This was a lovely hotel in an amazing location, just steps from the Pantheon. The room was clean, elegant, comfortable and looked out on to the piazza. Using the hotel as home base, we saw virtuallly all the sights in historic Rome and many in the Vatican City--all on foot. The neighborhood is home to six important churches from an art/historical perspective […] and many more that we did not have time to visit. The area shopping, restaurants, coffee shops and gelaterias were great. There was a Christmas bazaar at the Palazza Navone. Breakfast was very good, with excellent coffee and pastries. The hotel staff were kind and helpful. There was free wireless Internet, but it did not work in our room on the second floor, although they are upgrading. The mattress was not very comfortable by American standards, but was more comfortable than the one in my Milan hotel. I stayed in this hotel in November 2011. This hotel is in a very good area of Rome for tourism, as it is located in front of the Pantheon. I stayed in a room on a newly renovated floor. The room was very good, and the bed was comfortable. The best part was in front of the hotel they have comfortable chairs to sit on with a good view of the Pantheon […] and the Piazza. I stayed on the alley side at it could be a little noisy. I dont know why but all the hotels I stayed at in Italy put the heat up to high. Even in Sorrento it was not even cold and the Italians were walking around with winter coats, its weird. So the room was a little hot and the room did not have individual temperature control like some other reviewers pointed out on trip advisor. If I opened the window to cool off there was noise from the alley. The alley aplified the sound. Even with the room being alittle hot and alittle nosiy from outside the hotel was great, and I would definetly stay there again. I highly recommed this hotel even though it was a little expensive. The overall quality of the hotel is excellent. However the simple twin rooms on the first floor are quite small. It is definitely worth it to upgrade to a triple room on a higher floor. Also do not trust the front desk restaurant recs, and avoid "La Donata at Due Colona" at all costs, in my opinion. Otherwise front desk is very helpful and nice.

My 22 year old son just graduated college and as I present I gave him a trip to Europe. We picked the Albergo del Senato after reading expedia reviews. The reviews were correct and the location was perfect. When we arrived after traveling about 20 hours at around 10:00 am hoping a room was available for a shower. We were told if we could wait 10 minutes […] would take care of us. They gave us a room on the 5th floor with perfect view of the square and was surprised our nice the room and bathroom was in comparsion to other European hotels I have stayed it. I think this hotel should be 4.5 stars with location making it 5. One of the staff Piero Acquaviva took great care of us with telling us dining spots close (they were excellent choices and not pricey). He also spoke with our driver to the cruise ship we were headed too and made sure they were on time. The breakfast buffet was much nicer than expected and did have eggs, bacon along with the more European type breakfast. The rooftop bar was beautiful with views where we could see the Vatican and the colosseum along with reasonable priced drinks.
