Started with no pickup at the airport which had been pre-arranged via a phone call to the hotel. (as an aside, I almost hate "free" services as it is harder to complain when they fall short). This is the second time I have stayed in this hotel and certainly the last. The overall condition of the hotel is rather seedy. However, my real problem with the hotel was the AC system which did not function in spite of being attended to by a hotel technician who pronounced it working, but was not. Traffic noise was a distraction. Jacuzzi tub very dated, afraid to use. Toilet plugged on arrival and noisy all night. Restaurant service was good. Ambiance, charming . The only negative comment was my wait for the Hotel - Airport Shuttle - due to staff confusion, I was delayed at Quito Airport for over an hour to be picked up. My flight into Quite arrived at 10 PM, and due to the high evelation of the city, I was unprepared for the freezing cold. Placing a second and third call to the hotel, a driver was quickly sent […] and I was picked up at almost 11:30 PM. Even though the delay had nothing to do with him as his shift started at 11 PM, the driver stated he was very sorry for the staff confusion and heated the car right away! The rest of the trip was great. Hotel was warm and clean. The staff was very courteous and extremly helpful as I was on crutches. The hot chocolate I ordered from Room Service was very prompt and divine! I enjoyed the freshly squeezed juices from Room Service for a light and refreshing breakfast - Yum! In front of park and Quitocentro which is a big commercial center with great stores. Walking distance to good restaurants. The hotel description said it has a casino and it does not. Ecuator does not has casinos since March 2012 as decided by the ecuatorians in public votings. Everything else was great!

We live in Cuenca, Ecuador. So when we fly out of Quito to the States or Europe, an overnight hotel stay is required. Two days ago, I just returned from the States with lots of stuff! Three weeks ago, on my way up to the States, I tried "another hotel" in Quito which offered a much cheaper rate but had 4 stars also. As a woman traveling alone, I did […] not feel safe in that other hotel. There was only a push botton lock in the door handle and the waiter plastic-tied my purse to the chair in the restaurant! So, I quickly booked (as we've done before) a stay at Best Western Plaza Hotel. It is a wonderful hotel! Great service, safe neighborhood and good restaurant. On my return to Quito, my husband flew up to meet me. When we left the next day, I forgot an important item I'd just purchased in the States. With only 30 minutes before our flight left for Cuenca, I called the hotel, they found the item in my room, they had their van driver rush out to the airport where I met him curbside and then I dashed in through security and made our flight. Whew! The hotel staff was wonderful...especially the young man at the front desk the night I checked in and the next day when we checked out. English speaking, cordial and so helpful! We always stay at this hotel in Quito! I highly recommend it: security/cleanliness/location/free van to airport/excellent staff without exception! Hats off to them! Read more

Room and people are great. But we had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel and it was terrible. We ordered Ceviche (popular Ecudorean food) and pork chops. Ceviche was cooked, not sour and the chops were dry. We never turn down food, but we did.

The room was far bigger than I was expecting (and far bigger than I needed). It was clean and well organized. The staff showed me where all the switches were for lights, and temperature control. Hotel staff speak both English and Spanish. Buffet breakfast is available on the ground floor for a charge in the morning. I didn't make it to the bar/restaurant at the top of the hotel, but it probably has a very nice view of the city. My hotel rooms were on the 4th and 7th floors and the view from there is pretty good. The free airport shuttle is very helpful. You can schedule your ride to the airport, but they prefer to leave on the hour. Read more

This hotel is perfect for any stay in Quito- either a day or two for business or pleasure. I have done both and I can find no better value for the money. This is a higer end Best Western, which is not usually a luxury brand in the US. It would be considered a 3.5-4-star hotel in US standards. Plus, you are in the center of town near the park and shopping […] malls, and an easy and cheap cab ride almost anywhere. The rooms are almost like mini-suites with a separate sitting area from the very comfortable bedroom area. The beds are very comfortable as well. TV has many channels- and many in English. There is also a very efficient travel agency inside the hotel which can plan trips for you. It should be noted there will no longer be a casino in this hotel in the coming 6 months as the country passed a referendum in the last election to close ALL casinos in the country. We used it one night to kill off an hour or so after dinner, but it will not be around much longer. If that is a concern for you, check with the hotel. It was not a concern for us. Read more

No good - they took us to a tiny room when we'd reserved a suite with a sofa. It was awful - the curtains were broken and hanging off the wall. you had to squeeze around the bed to get around the room. I can't believe people like this place!

We spent the last night of our two week Ecuador adventure at the Best Western. Okay, a Best Western? We were a little skeptical because the few BWs we've stayed at in the states were tired and run down at best. Not here. Nice lobby, great location next to the Quicentro mall and a nice park nearby. The view from the restaurant on the 6th floor was phenomenal!!! […] Something like a 270 degree view of Quito. Our room was a small suite and was perfect for our family of three. The only drawback was shower. Sure, it was a jacuzzi type tub (which we didn't try), but the pressure and the height of the shower head were below acceptable (pun intended.) I booked a regular king-bed room but they upgraded me to a suite for free and gave me $10 casino money and a voucher for a free drink. Room was clean but furnishings were a little older. Nice views in the Penthouse. Casino was smokey. Complimentary shuttle service to airport was very fast; 10min drive in early morning. Mall across the street. Free internet […] in business room, but I couldn't get the wifi to work on my phone in my room. Shower head was not secure and didn't stay spraying water towards me. I went down to ask for a new room and they said no, they would send someone up to fix. I said they would not be able to fix it, it would take a few hours. A decent hotel. I stayed there because it was close to where I needed to go. It is also right across the street from one of the big shopping malls. It has a parking lot and smoking rooms. Because of the casino, it has more than the usual number of armed guards. They let me check in at 6:00am without charging extra.
