"Minor issues, would stay again"
there were a few minor issues with the hotel, but it was recently renovated so perhaps these were teething troubles. The location was very central and everything was within easy walking distanceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything was ok, except that the room was very noisy. I could not sleep from the minifridge and street noie!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Cold in April. No room thermostat. No gym. Room was spartan...rough comforters, crappy pillows. Union protesting outside. Book early and you won't miss this place.Genuine Expedia guest review
"No temp control, tiny beds"
No temperature control in the room. Beds are NOT queen size. They are all advertised as queens but they are full. Two average adults will not sleep comfortably in the same bed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Surprisingly nice furnishings"
The hotel seems to be undergoing an upgrade. Lobby was stark but I saw a workman there. I was surprised to find that the room was updated to 3.5-4 star level with nice comfortable bed, glass shower, flat screen tv. Towels were small and 1 star quality though. Overall this was a weird mix of 1 star and 3 star elements.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"run the other way"
the lobby/desk area is laughable, a cluttered desk in the corner of the room with four chairs in the "lobby", waited 20 minutes, standing, to check in, one of the 2 keys didn't work the elevator is tiny, literally the door is smaller than a regular doorway, dirty cleaning rags left on the floor of the elevator. walk up very steep stairs to our room […] on the 7th floor, people were running up those stairs right outside our room to get to the roof late at night. carpet in room was very stained, no clock/radio in either room, room itself was clean, but they over did it a little on the febreez (cough). bathroom was tiny, there was a draft, Worst thing--in the middle of each of our showers the hot water literally STOPPED, no water pressure at all, not even a trickle, this lasted for 2 up to 5 minutes. Yes, it is the 7th floor, yes, lots of people take showers in the morning, but this was unacceptable. there are nice tv's in the rooms, there is a newer coffeemaker, (there is not coffee or tea in the "lobby" and no vending of any kind in the hotel) But a double "suite" should probably merit more than just one little K-cup, I saw no housekeeping or other staff to ask. We stayed here for its proximity to the Avenue of the Arts while looking at colleges for my daughter, we would have been much better off staying a few blocks farther away, for a few dollars more. VERY disappointed in this hotel, There really needs to be a way to be refunded when the accommodations are this bad!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"relatively inexpensive but didn't feel that way."
great value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Don't let the hotel's .appearance fool you. It is located in an old Phyladelphia building, tall and narrow, and is currently under reconstruction. The reception desk is basically non-existant (meaning that it is just an office table) and the lobby looks just an empty room with bare walls devoid of any furnishings. However, our room was very specious […] with suprisingly modern decor. Yes, the hall ways and the elevator are very narrow, but to me this was kind of reminicsent of European hotels. The parking fee of $12 in the nearby garage in the center of the city was the icing on a cake, and the hotel is just the walking distance to absolutely everything that the city has to offer: historical sites, great restaurants and shopping! I am planning the leisurly trip to Philadelphia and i'll be staying in this hotel! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"More like a 3 star!!"
Got a room with 2 queen beds - looks like hotel is remodeling....new carpet in the room - room was very spacious!!! The closet was bigger than some rooms Ive stayed in!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Door nob in bath was almost falling off, desk swayed side to side, room floor sloped toward bath and when remodeled they leveled bath creating aprox inch and half toe stub, shower curtain had white paint all over it, shower rod all most rusted over, no drawers in room for underwear, light switches didn't work and had to cross room to turn on lamp, bath […] wall tile had no bull nose just caulked, took 20 min to get hot water to shower, no in room t stat, first night felt like 90 had to open window to breath second night was to cold had to open window to warm room. "Okay for price"
For the price this hotel was okay. The room is small, shower is smaller. Neighborhood and location us perfect. I would stay here again because of the location and price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Terrible. This hotel is way sub par . Its old (no issue with age) but REALLY needs a complete renovation. Rooms small and the bathrooms are sub-standard quality for this price. Tiles are wobbly on the floor, dirty/no caulk, toilet seat not secured. I repaired it myself. For location to Philly Convention Center is great however. Easy to walk to other […] locations , restaurants etc. If they fixed this place, it would be a perfect hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was great and overall the hotel fit our needs. The elevator was much to be desired...would not fit luggage on the rolling rack! The bathrooms were a bit tight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for one night stay"
No parking aside from parking garage that the hotel validates for 24 hrs only. Nice location, our room was slanted and a bit uncomfortable. Very clean and has nice finishes inside. ModernGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The location it was great for me"
The room was very comfortable, clean and nice!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I had a very pleasant experience here! There was still renovations going on and the lobby smelled heavily like paint but I didnt mind too much. The elevator was working at that point (a bunch of reviews had nonworking elevator) and once you got in the paint smell went away. The room was small but very comfy bed and very clean, decent size bathroom. […] I honestly dont mind the smaller rooms because I didnt book the room to actually hang in it, just to sleep! The staff was very accomodating and friendly! The location was AWESOME! Walking distance to many restaurants and shops and the Reading Terminal market. $6 to Dave and Busters or South St. I wouldnt pay the normal pay rate (because I think it's silly to spend any more than $100 for a room im literally sleeping and changing) but if i could find the same deal again i would absolutely come back!! The Hotel is in a great location within walking distance to many local downtown attractions. It is a GREAT location....Second time there...Both times the Coffee maker was broken, other than that, good friendly staff and clean hotelGenuine Expedia guest review
Not good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This place sucked. Rooms did not have thermostats, and the temperature was quite chilly. Coffee maker, but no coffee. Elevator so small you had to turn sideways to enter (this from people weighing less 150 pounds). Hotel was under renovation and and work crews started working at 8am. Cleaning staff removed washcloths and towels and did not provide replacements. […] A "Do Not Disturb" door hanger was not provided in the room and a special request had to be made to acquire one. It was apparent one was needed when housekeeping knocked on the door at 8am. Rooms were said to have an alarm clock and free WiFi. There was no alarm clock, and no welcome packet (with the wifi password). Hot water was sporadic at best. The rooms were the smallest I've ever seen. Barely enough room to turn around. The only positives were price and location. But if you were looking for any comfort or any amenities whatsoever, look elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything was pretty nice but not nice anough to stay at this hotel again. But its location is really great, in the center of Downtown. But the hotel itself is pretty old, rooms are very dark. "Convenient but cold"
I really liked the room and the location, but they had forgotten to turn on the heating in my room, so it was very cold my first night there. The rodeway inn seems to market itself as a business hotel, but was occupied primarily by students and older couples when my family stayed there. Lack of loading/unloading space in front of hotel led to parking fine. Room (401) was spacious and clean, but lacking in chairs. There is space for a small table. Add one, please. Wi-fi access was TERRIBLE. […] Glad i wasn't trying to conduct business from the hotel. Concierges extremely pleasant and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good place to catch up on rest!"
Room was an effort above clean. A curtain was missing but the shear sufficed. The shower could have used more water flow and pressure but was manageable. Cecilia at the Front Desk was fantastic! She was extremely accommodating to my co-worker and her special needs. "Don't forget the heater in your renovation works!"
Excellent location at walking distance from historic district (Lyberty Bell, Ben Franklin's grave), medical centers, restaurants and shopping centers. However during the winter the heater does not reach the 65 degrees no matter how many times you call the front desk to adjust it. Even worst my bed just had a blanket but was missing the comforter. However […] I have to recognize Choice Hotels, their parent company, for their renovation works. The bathroom looks fine as well as the carpet. "Still Under Construction"
The room was fantastic for a single individual. I loved the shower and the noise level was minimal. The lobby, stairs, elevator and more rooms were being renovated so I am unsure of what it will look like when complete. The lobby gave an impression of openess in a small brownstone building. The corridors in the stairwell are slim and are not comfortable […] for more than 1 person to go up and down at a time. "My Experience at Rodeway Inn"
It's in a great location. Close to subways, restaurants, shops, etc. However, the hotel was under major construction and being remodeled, which I was unaware of. I feel that I should have been notified of this situation in advance. The rooms were small and the fixtures, sinks, and tubes were dated. The conferters had mysterious stains, and the tub's […] drain was clogged. Oh and the biggest issue of all....the rooms do not have individual thermostats. Therefore, we were unable to control the temp in the room and when we called the front desk to lower the temp so we wouldn't sweat to death, nothing happened. It was so hot n stuffy in that room! It was one of the worst nights of my life. I will never stay at this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Undergoing construction and was placed in a room with paint all over the carpet. The phone was also disconnected and I couldn't reach the front desk without physically going there. Wifi was also not obtainable from my room. Terrible time there, won't do it again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"For price and convenience, Rodeway Inn it is."
We knew when we booked that the hotel was under construction and that the elevator was out of service, but walking up 5 flights of stairs with our luggage was not fun. The room was clean, but small. Our room was one on the street, so we had windows, but it was the smaller of all the rooms. The hotel staff was great at meeting any of our needs when we […] called. I don't remember reading that there was a jacuzzi tub, but I loved it. The location was perfect. We were within walking distance to practically everything: the train station, convention center, bus stops, restaurants, pharmacy, and shops. The bed itself was comfortable if you were in the middle of the bed. My husband and I were sharing the bed, and if you were near the edge you would just roll right off. "High price despite reconstruction"
The hotel has a good location in the city and is quiet. But that is the only positive thing I can say about my stay. I paid full price for the hotel but upon arrival it turned out to be under reconstruction. No elevator and the room was only partly renovated. Thus, there was paint on the old carpet, wallpapers ripped down and the door was impossible […] to lock because of masking tape. It was also tricky to get hot water and enough water pressure on the 6th floor. The hotel will look nicer after renovation but it is not a hotel I will chose for my next stay in Philadelphia. We did not stay one night. Upon arrival you couldn't even get in the door because of the door being barricaded by scaffolding from construction. We had driven 14 hours and upon arriving in Philadelphia to visit my daughter and new grand daughter there was a snow storm. They wouldn't even let us in off the street out of the snow. There was no front desk, […] finally someone asked us our name, we had reservations for 8 nights. We were told that hotels.com should have informed us of the renovations. They were absolutely rude and of no assistance. We were taken up a flight of stairs by a construction worker because the elevators were not working. Upon opening the door a blast of heat hit us and the room was horrible. No thermostat, the bed was disgusting, it was very small. We went back downstairs and said we were not staying. One of the women, Natasha said I wouldn't stay here either. They said they would give us a total refund but never offered any assistance in helping us find another hotel. Luckily, we walked right across the street to a Holiday Express and were treated with grace and dignity. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

very dirty; in middle of renovations; terrific location; TV remote didn't work; room key didn't work; do not visit if you can't climb stairs; elevator broken; terrible water pressure - just a trickleGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location for a weekend away"
The hotel was close to all the downtown sights and nightlife. This will be a great place to stay again, one the renovations are finished (approx. Feb 2013). I will definitely be keeping this place in mind for future stays in Philadelphia.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"This was a bad one"
Any positives end at the staff and location to the parking garage. The elevator was out, so I hiked six flights up a narrow staircase to my room. There were paint drops all over the carpet and furniture was old. In the end, the worst part was the hair all over the room. I opened the sheets to find three hairs. I opened the shower to find two on shower […] wall. The kicker was the curly one in the hand towel. I don't mind an old place or the lack of amenities, but the poor hygiene and regard for the guests cleanliness shows me a lack of respect for the guests. Clean the sheets and the room, thus seems pretty simple. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We booked 2 nights in this inn, mostly because of its convenient location- the city center, everywhere just walking distance. "Not so great."
We picked the Rodeway because of it's location only to find out there were many better hotels in a similar location. We arrived to find out the elevator was out due to renovations and our room was on the 4th floor. Our room was tiny and the bed was much smaller than expected ( We were expecting a queen size bed and arrived to find the bed was a full). I have stayed at this hotel severl times because of the affordability and location. "don't have hot water for shower"
All the customers were complaining about the hot water, but I am sure this had been happening since the hotel was build.
