"Nicely Remodeled Fairfield Inn Just Off 31"
I was impressed with the renovations at this hotel. We loved the new decor - carpet, bedding, wallpaper, desk, bathroom tiles, built-in area for the fridge, and microwave. The bed was so comfortable, and the room smelled great. There were also many oodles of kids staying at the hotel, but we didn't hear a thing once we were in our room. I will preface this by saying I am a loyal Marriott customer and was warned of the renovations upon reserving my room, but I was not prepared for the scope of the renovations. The staff member who greeted us was friendly, but he appeared stressed. The lobby was smaller than a hotel room, and there was literally exposed drywall. The renovation warning […] should have included comments about overwhelming paint fumes, dust and partial walls. I got a headache within 30 minutes of arriving, and it did not go away until after we left. When we went through the lobby in the morning, the workers were using a jackhammer in the middle of the lobby with no warning signs or caution tape. There was dust everywhere. Seemed fine to me. When I stayed, the hotel was going through some minor renovations. As I checked in, they gave me small gift bag with snacks in it and explained the situation.
