This little hotel is a great place to stay; the room, lobby, and restaurant were all excellent. The canopy bed was a really nice touch. The only knock I had on this place is that it's in a so-so neighborhood, and there are a lot of homeless people milling about around there. I wouldn't want to walk too much at night.

This is my favorite San Francisco hotel. The service is excellent, the rooms are spotless, very cozy comfy and beautifully decorated. There's a relaxing "livingroom" lobby area as well as a secondary lobby where, during their complementary wine hour, they also serve appetizers. The kids can enjoy popsicles and a Wii. There's complementary coffee served in the morning. They have a fabulous french restaurant adjacent to the lobby. Good choice!

This hotel has all the right moves. Very fun vibe- chic. The food in the restaurant was amazing. We tried the wood fire pizza while catching a game in the bar area then the next afternoon had a delicious breakfast in one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the city. Hotel room was comfortable and super roomy. Huge bathroom with jaccuzzi tub was a nice touch. The view out the window was of a homeless guy working the CVS door but everything inside was top rate. Close to Union Square and cable cars. Easy cab ride to North Beach.

My son and I stayed at the Hotel Monaco - SF in May 2009 and really enjoyed the hotel. We had been travelling around the States and this was certainly the most comfortable and welcoming place we had stayed. The rooms were uniquely decorated, although a little small. The leopard print robes were novel and the offer of keeping a goldfish in your room was magical. Wine tasting between 5-6pm allowed us to meet lots of people some of whom we will keep in touch with. The hotel is perfectly located within a few minutes walk of Union Square of which the shopping is to die for. All in all we had a most enjoyable stay and would recommend to anybody travelling to SF either on business or vacation.

Was greeted in a very friendly manner by all the staff. Deluxe Queen Room was just about about large enough for a 3 night stay albeit storage space was very limited for clothing and bags. Free tea and coffee served daily between 9 and 10am was welcoming and there was a wine reception I think between 6 and 7pm but as we were out the whole time never experienced that so cant comment. The only negative comment I have (which I didnt mind) was that our window faced a wall so there was no view to albeit it was very quiet with the exception of a family being put next door to us with a screaming child!

I remembered staying at the Monaco as a kid years ago & wanted to stay again with my husband. Everything was just wonderful. The staff was really attentive & friendly. Everytime we left our room he/she would always asked if we needed help with directions, if our room was okay, or if they could help with anything. Our room was beautiful. The bed was delightful as was the decor of the room. It was clean & comfy. There was seating & a small table which was nice. We had free wi-fi (a must!!) and the bathroom was not the size of a closet. The free wine reception was nice although there's not enough seating for all the guests. The restaurant was spectacular for cocktails (didn't eat dinner there, but we did go each night for a couple of drinks). I had the lime caipirinia both times, it was so fab! The bartender was friendly as was pretty much every one. The location was great, right near Union Square & the Curran if you like theatre. I will definatly be returning to the Monaco.

We stayed at this hotel on Valentine's night and we're very impressed. We were greeted at the door by John and had a very quick check in. Our room was ready and quite charming. There was complementary wine and chair massage in a nice cozy room just off the lobby which had a huge turn out and lots of nice travelers. The bed in our room was exremely comfortable and we were never bothered by housekeeping in the morning. As a matter of fact we never heard any of the other guests at the hotel so we got a good nights sleep. The next morning John greeted us again and held our bags while we ate breakfast at the Grand Cafe restaurant downstairs. Wouldn't recommend the restaurant - $18.00 for cold bacon, eggs and toast - overpriced and small cold portions. That's the only complaint for the whole weekend. If you're looking for a view, this is not the place to stay. Comfortable and charming best described this well kept Hotel. We will definitely stay at the Kimpton hotel chain again!
