The staff were very accommodating to someone traveling with their bike. They helped me store my bike and the case for it and were always prompt when getting the bike when I needed it. The all you can eat breakfast was really good and excellent service their too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Weekend trip to Amsterdam"
A centrally situated hotel in interesting area just a short distance from centre. Old town house type building - plenty of stairs and nooks & crannys! Lift to all floors but be careful if you don't want to climb any stairs cause they are everywhere. Breakfast was in room down in basement so not easily accessible. Staff were courteous but not overly […] friendly, helpful when asked however. Our room was a superior double and on 4th floor. It was bright and airy. We enjoyed our stay but not enough to return really! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Elegant hotel in a residential area. Perfectly placed for museums and the Vondelpark. Quieter than hotels overlooking the canal rings and within walking distance to the Concertgebouw and main museums. If you are going to Amseterdam to indulge in art history and performing arts this is an excellent place to stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Service was […] not intrusive. Did not pay the extra for breakfast as we do not do justice to buffet style breakfasts and prefer to make an early start on the museums to avoid all the queues. Bedroom and bathroom were small but clean and smart. Some noise from the kitchen below in the early hours, but apart from that, it was a quiet, peaceful and comfortable stay. "Beautiful location for this lovely hotel"
Wonderful and well located hotel - right in the heart of Old South (Museum Quarter) and literally five minutes walk from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. Friendly, helpful staff and clean and well maintained rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
I really loved my stay. The staff was so hospitable, kind, and helpful. My room was so clean and comfortable. And to access the rest of the attractions in Amsterdam is so easy, especially the museums.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Can't Complain About How Small the Room Was..."
.....because I had been warned. The hotel staff were excellent and helpful, and spoke perfect English. The neighborhood was nice, it not exactly teeming with nightlife. Room was small (180 sq ft), but that was not a big concern to me. Only real complaint was the steepest staircases I have encountered in my life. I prefer stairs to elevators and these […] ones made my knees ache. I would not recommend this hotel for someone looking for a luxury room, but for a short trip to Amsterdam it was excellent. "Truly comfortable and convenient hotel"
Truly comfortable and convenient hotel, brilliantly located for the museums, close to a tram stop and lovely park, on a quiet elegant street - absolutely perfect for the trip (visiting Amsterdam for a long weekend with my elderly mother).Genuine Expedia guest review
Clean, well-run. Good value. Unbeatable location for Rijksmuseum etc. Single room actually a good size.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is old. Lift may not stop at your room level. We had to carry our heavy luggages up a flight of stairs. No parking or place to even drop off our luggages during the check in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is located along smaller street. Hotel service staff wasn't that friendly. The worst thing was there was no place to stop and unload our luggages. The hotel does not have their own car park. We were fined by a huge female police officer for parking our car in the carpark just right in front of the hotel!!!! "Good city break hotel"
Good hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. Local parking is on street and very expensive but the hotel is within easy walking distance of a tram that will get you to/from a reasonably priced park and ride, though the maximum stay at the P&R is 4 days. We also booked a double room. This was achieved by the hotel pushing 2 single beds together, which […] would have been fine if they stayed together but if a hip was put in the wrong place the beds moved apart. The hotel provided breakfast was very expensive for what was provided. There were café stalls by the local museums (2 minutes walk away) that provides a cheaper alternative. These issues were minor and I would happily return to the hotel for an extended stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Mystery Hotel Proved Excellent Value"
Although part of a chain, this is a lovely boutique hotel in the museum quarter and close to the canals, principal park, Leidseplein, theatres etcGenuine Expedia guest review
My husband and I stayed her for four nights in early June and were very pleased. The hotel is very conveniently located just minutes walk from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum and two minutes from the bus and tram stops giving access to the whole central area. We flew into Schipol and took the 197 bus from the airport into town - it stops right by […] the Rijksmuseum and virtually at the end of the road where the hotel is situated. We had a superior room which was very comfortable with fridge, tea and coffee making kit and a very comfortable bed. Bear in mind this is a city hotel and I suspect it could be quite noisy in some rooms but our room was fine. It is quite an expensive area and whilst I thought 15 euros for breakfast was quite steep the choice was good and plentiful and the cost compared quite favourably to other restaurants/cafes in the area. Plenty of cafes and restaurants in the area to choose from for lunch or dinner ranging from beer and a sandwich to something more upmarket. The English speaking hotel staff are all very pleasant and helpful and you are given quite a useful map on arrival to help you get orientated. All in all this is an excellent hotel for a short break or business trip - comfortable, centrally located and near many of the major attractions. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for visitors to Amsterdam's museums"
A lovely hotel with comfortable, modern rooms in an old Amsterdam house. Excellent, quiet location in a leafy street a few minutes' walk from Rijksmuseum and buses to/from Schiphol airport.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was in an ideal location but fell a little short of being 4*. The bedrooms, though very clean, were rather small and the location of the breakfast room was not suitable for people with mobility problems-down 2 flights of stairs. No warning was given of this.Breakfast was overpriced and again not quite 4*. Some staff were very pleasant; others, […] quite abrupt. However, I would recommend it for fit, more mature people as the location could not have been better. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Family city break"
I booked 3 superior rooms for an 'adult family' break - each room was spacious, well equipped with 'extras', very quiet location, friendly reception/bar staff. "Tired building, helpful staff."
The hotel is like a tired guesthouse not a 4* Hotel. Our room was small and needed decorating. WiFi was only available in a few areas and not in our bedroom. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good basic hotel."
Nice location within easy walking distance of the city centre. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Hotel a little lacking in amenities and the room, although adequate, was a little dull and tired.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Find another hotel"
Given the smallest single room imaginable - about 7ft x 10ft - which seemed smaller as most of the floor space was taken up by the single bed. Bathroom tiny. Hotel in good location. The hotel staff were as warm, friendly, and helpful as East German Border Guards. Otherwise, the hotel was expensive: five euros for a small bottle of water; twenty euros […] for continental breakfast (neither taken). NOTE FOR EXPEDIA - Don't assume people travelling alone want a single room. Had I realised the accommodation I'd be given when booking, I would have stayed elsewhere. "Great location - close to museums and restaurants"
Fantastic hotel with good service, clean large rooms and walking distance to trams, buses, museums, restaurantsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was in Amsterdam for the Europa League final last week but had taken a chance on an early booking. And what a good choice Bilderberg Hotel Jan Luyken turned out to be. Yes, it is a tram-ride away from the very centre of Amsterdam, and if you are out in the early hours of the morning you will require a taxi back there, but the comfort of the accommodation […] and the 'nothing too much trouble' ethos of the staff makes it well worth the journey. Dreamily comfortable beds, rainfall showers and state of the art sound systems make for a good night's sleep, although on the lower floors you may get the sound of the Dam's refuse collection operations. The breakfast might be expensive at just under 18 Euros, but it's a fill-your-boots affair including smoked salmon, fab local ham, delicious coffee and wonderful bread. Best of all, the hotel is situated minutes from the Rijksmuseum, the Diamond Museum, the Van Gogh museum. The City Sightseeing tour also stops nearby, and trams numbers 2 and 5 take you direct to and from the centre of Amsterdam. Particular thanks to Rens and Michelle for helping me to find Indewildeman, where I was meeting friends. This is one hotel I will definitely be returning to. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Quiet and peaceful stay"
The hotel had a very regal feel to it. Most of the customers seemed to be in the higher range of life's cycle. I wouldn't suggest this hotel for younger couples looking to have fun all night. It was very quiet, peaceful and well kept. The room was the size of the king sized bed which was a little dissappointing. Other than that it was a good stay.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel, pity about the noise!"
The hotel facilities were very acceptable. The staff were very, very helpful and in the most part, knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. There were 2 problems as far as our stay. The first was the comfort of the pillows. They were very soft and gave no support. We asked for firmer pillows but were told, these are the only pillows available. The […] most disappointing feature of our stay was the amount of noise in the street throughout the night. For 4 nights we were woken by drunken revellers in the street below. 2 am,3 am.,4 am. which made sleep almost impossible! We know that the hotel can't control what goes on in the streets below, but, this really spoilt our time in Amsterdam. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ideally located for Rijksmuseum"
The room was smaller than expected but perfectly adequate for our needs. The hotel is ideally located with a 5 minute walk to the main art museums and round the corner from a seriously expensive shopping street with L.V, Chanel, Armani to name a few. The hotel can provide museum tickets which can save you time queuing at the Rijksmuseum and discounts […] on some of the canal trips. I would certainly use it again if I was going to Amsterdam. "Great hotel for the Rijksmuseum"
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the museum area of Amsterdam. About 1 minutes walk from the Rijksmuseum. Convenient for trams and buses to other parts of the city. We didn't use the bar or minibar in room as was overpriced, 5 Euros for a bottle of water in room! Paid separately for breakfast which was very good though […] I thought quite expensive. Well located hotel (and will be even better wehen the Rijksmuseum reopens!) and excellent upkeep; room kept very clean and staff always most friendly and helpful. "Good value, great location, get a larger room."
I like this hotel very much. They have three different size rooms for single guests. I'd recommend getting at least the middle size standard room. The economy one was too tiny for a five day stay. "One of the best hotel choices ever!"
Absolutely fabulous hotel with outstanding service. The location was brilliant for easy access to upmarket shops and great dining as well as just a 10 minute stroll to Leidensplein and the more touristy things to do. Staff were friendly and on hand 24/7 to help in any way possible. A real touch of class. Would highly recommend and will most definetly […] stay if ever in Amsterdam again. PS Lots of little extra touches for my husband's birthday to make everything just that bit more special but even without this would have been one of my better hotel choices. "return to familiar territory"
Stayed in double room for a change and worth the extra for the extra space (still a small room). Breakfast at 19.50 euros is overpriced with so many places to eat nearby. Within walking distance of museums, Leidsplein, Concertgebouw and PC Hoofenstraat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not Central But Just What We Wanted."
Nothing wrong with this quality hotel at all for us ...... but it is all subjective! It's not central, isn't buzzing with nightlife.... no disco in the basement or rowdies in the bar and is in a quiet neibourhood close to quality shops. I'd say it was on the edge (walking) of Amsterdam centre and half an hours walk from central station. Staff were friendly […] and courteous and hotel was very clean. Our room on the fifth floor was more than comfortable with adequate room for a couple on a long weekend break. Although we didn't eat in the hotel as we wanted different experiences so we can't comment on quality the price of breakfast was very competative with local cafes. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here on our next visit to Amsterdam. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Reasonable value in Amsterdam museum district."
The hotel is located some distance from the city centre, but close to the Rijksmuseum, the Concertgebouw and the starting point for canal tours. It is in a quiet street, and a tram stop is not far away. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the checkin was efficient. My first impression of my single room was that it was like a student dormitory, […] with hardly space to turn around. The en suite bathroom was better. Breakfast was not included in the price, but you can get a "full English breakfast" in cafes down the street for less that the cost of a continental breakfast in the hotel. Overall it was a pleasant enough experience at a reasonable cost, but nothing special. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Bilderberg Hotel Jan Luyken"
PROS: * Location, you can walk to 2 great museums very easily. Van Gogh and Reik (sp?) * One block over is a Madison Avenue of high end stores LV, Bally, etc. * Short walk or quick bike to Hard Rock square area or Apple Store square area which a decent bar/restaurant location. CONS: * Room 114 a single is fine for a 1 or 2 day stay with a larger than […] twin size bed. *Bathroom while newly renovated was tiny with a shower that just didn't have enough separation with a circular curtain. Contrasting to the Albus that had a glass separation in a larger bathroom which was fine * 13e for a 24 hour internet login. The receipt said 256k download speed but was much faster thankfully. "Not a bad hotel, massively overpriced"
The hotel was in a decent location for our needs, away from the rowdiness of parts of the central area of amsterdam, but close to museums and the beautiful vondelpark. The first room we had was on the fourth floor and a reasonable size, initially the only problem appeared to be the missus being unable to figure out how the shower worked. We had arrived […] late and the receptionist was very helpful in recommending late opening restaurants nearby. We were there on a hot weekend and when we returned to our too it was apparent that the air con didn't work, which would have made it impossible to sleep. We phoned down to reception and a guy came up who clearly had less idea of how to work it than I did. They were good enough to give us an alternative room, this was in the basement. The room was dark andslightly small, but not too noisy. Not the best room as it didn't have the view we initially enjoyed. Also TVs in the room are really old, small, rear projection, not what you'd expect from alleged 4 star. Also, you have to pay forinternet, which wasn't explained when we got the code. Overall, iI might stay here again, but would look for cheaper options first as it wasn't worth the significant amount paid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Generally good. Quiet room with controllable air conditioning. Staff pleasant. Main problem appears to be lack of cleaning staff - 1 night room only partially finished, next day arrived back at 3.30 pm room not done, told cleaning still being worked on, cleaner arrived at 4.45 pm, room ready at 5.15pm - not the standard expected.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great place and friendly staff"
Very pleasant stay at the hotel. The staff are very friendly and the location is spot on for high end shopping and museum visits (especially the Van Gogh). They also have a fantastic Spa for 2 which includes Jacuzzi, Steam room and Message bed. I would recommend this added bonus at your doorstep. Be a little wary of catching a cab to and from the hotel […] as the plush neighborhood can encourage overcharging. Top Tip: find out average cab fares for your cab journey from the friendly staff. "Located in a nice quiet museum area!"
Great staff, and very nice hotel. It is a little out of the city centre, but only 5 to 10 minute walk. The city isn't too large, so you can walk around quite easy if you don't mind walking. It is very to get around though, by bus or more preferably, tram. I recommend this hotel on the above.Genuine Expedia guest review
