We had a great stay at Hotel Banana!! The staff was helpful and friendly, our room was clean and cute. The only negatives were that the beds were a little hard, and it was noisy all night long due to activities outside and other guests using the common area all hours of the night. Would definitely go back, great price for what you get.

I've stayed here before and enjoyed it. It is hidden from the tourist chaos, yet right on Ave5 . The rooms have a touch of romance with towel swans and flower petals on the bed and bath. Very clean and my rooms have always faced the inside patio, with the pool below. The pool is small (maybe 10x20x5'), but we've always been the only ones in it.. so, […] it is the perfect size. Their breakfast (Huevos Rancheros) was bad.. eat elsewhere or just go for coffee & pastries. The beach is only 2 blocks away and a fabulous Cuban restaurant/club with live music on the weekends is 1 block north. Decent small room....ask for rooms in back of hotel..Out front over 5th can get a little loud. Clean rooms yet the water and power went out around 2am not there fault i understand.However they could have been a little more accomadating still charged full price plus i was charged a premium for my cup of coffee in the morning.!!.......Would i recommend only […] if you get at the right price. There's a lot to like about the Hotel Banana for families or couples. My wife and I recently stayed at the Hotel Banana (formerly Fiesta Banana) with our 8-year-old and had an excellent time. The hotel's at the north end of 5th Ave, so very close to the action without all the noise. The Mamitas Beach Club is a 5-minute walk (and you get 50% off rentals […] with a coupon from the hotel) and a great perk. The hotel's staff - Matteo, Roberto, Sara (hola, Sara!) and everyone else we encountered were friendly and incredibly helpful. Roberto and Matteo were very responsive in pre-stay emails and helped us arrange round-trip taxis from/to the Cancun airport and we booked an interesting trip to the ruins at Coba and a cenote (but the "Mayan Village" part of the tour was so-so) and they made everything easy on us. Our room was comfortable, air conditioning worked well, we had a small balcony and fridge, so we stocked up on milk and cereal from the nearby Mega for quick breakfasts. Very safe, good for families and couples (just know going in that there's no elevator and wi-fi isn't strong on the 3rd floor, if that's important to you) and highly recommended. Read more

Small cozy hotel with friendly staff in great location. No phone or t.v in room. Fairly dependable, free internet accessibility. Miniature pool but hotel is only a couple of blocks from one of the nicest beaches around. Breakfast was mediocre and over priced but the waitress who served it was excellent. All in all, we enjoyed our 4 night stay.

My girl and I stayed there and for the price it was awesome. It's at the end of the strip so it's pretty quiet at night and great for a nightly stroll. Rooms were clean and the staff went above and beyond when needed or asked. It's a great room if you want to shower, sleep and be out and about. We'll defiantly book this room again!

It would be a plus to have front desk staff that had a working grasp of English. This hotel was worth the actual cost of the room, but by the time all referral fees were paid, the cost far exceeded the value.

The 10-night reservation went well with Expedia. We also confirmed by email directly with the hotel and asked for a quiet upper-floor room. We got a quick positive reply. On arrival we took the ADO bus from the airport to the PDC bus terminal. We walked on the 5th Avenue (La Quinta) for about 20 minutes to the hotel because we need to walk after the […] long flight. The hotel reception guy spoke fluent English and showed us our room in a matter of minutes. The room was better than we expected with very comfortable mattresses. We used the second bed to put our stuffs. We also had a safety-box free of charge without any deposit. We left $1 or $2 everyday for the maid as she was very pleasant , did a great cleaning job and made beautiful birds with the towels and flowers. We had a nice continental breakfast everyday from 7:00 to 10:00. The reception guy was always nice and gave us directions on request. After midnight there is a security guard at the reception. El hotel esta bastante bien ubicado, su personal es muy amable y te asesora en todo, lo único q puedo decir q no le falta es una pequeña mesita, x q tienen una silla de plástico pero no tiene mesita, las productos de limpieza personal tenían un olor no muy agradable si pudieran cambiarlos sería excelente, (lo bueno fue q llevamos los nuestros). Vi bodde der i to netter kun fordi vi fikk en god deal på prisen, i ettertid angrer vi. Veldig dårlig renhold på rommene, da vi fant masse hår og rester fra tidligere gjester. Aircondition fungerte dårlig og bassenget minnet mer om et dårlig badekar enn et sted å slappe av. Et lite pluss for god location og pris.

super séjour dans ce petit hôtel pendant 15 jours début avril. vacances en famille, tout était sympa, les chambres sont propres, bien insonorisées des autres chambres (nous étions au rez-de-chaussées) , le personnel est sympa et dispo, tout proche de la plage et bien situé au tout début de la quinta avenida donc eloigné du bruit. il faut juste savoir […] qu'il y a un resto en face avec un guitariste que chante mais c'est pas trop fort et ca s'arrete vers 1h du mat donc pas trop dérangeant avec des boules quies pour ceux qui ont le sommeil légé. Pour le petit déj, c'etait suffisant mais peut etre que ce serait sympa de le varier un peu c'est le même ts les jours et d'y rajouter des fruits (à mon avis !). toute petite piscine mais les enfants ont pu s'y baigner, c'est toujours agréable. Ett relativt billigt och mycket trivsamt och mysigt hotell som ligger bra i Playa del Carmen. Gångavstånd till allt man behöver. Ligger på "stora gatan" men inte mitt i smeten. Hotel carino e e pulito all'inizio della quinta avenida, vicino al mare. Ottimo rapporto qualita'/prezzo, si spende poco ed e' pulito, inoltre e' proprio sulla strada piu' "viva" di playa, piena di locali e negozi.
