"Slept like a rock"
Only had about 6 hours at this hotel, but the room was clean, the shower felt great, and I slept like a rock in my bed. Courteous, friendly staff......I'd stay here again, absolutely.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I had requested a King room and was told that it would be no problem, but ended up with a Queen room. There were only two large towels for showering. The view left much to be desired... I have stayed at Hotel Phillips on a few occasions and was excited to go back! I guess it is not a good idea to expect the same treatment if booking a room at Hotel […] Phillips through Hotels.com. We had a nice stay while there. Very thorough and professional staff. We did have one mix up with the valet but other than that had a great experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I researched several places to stay in the downtown Kansas City area and I'm so happy that I chose Hotel Phillips. The rooms were quaint, clean, and well decorated. The hotel has done a good job at updating the old features with modern touches. I had read some negative Yelp reviews, but I'm not sure why they received low stars. This place is great!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good deal on a discount"
Although this is an older hotel, it is worth it if you get a nice discount. The room was pretty clean, however the wood blinds were dusty. Housekeeping should be adding that to their checklist. Great location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!"
My wife and I went to KC for a concert. I chose the Hotel Phillips for its proximity to the Sprint Center and also the fact that it was not a chain hotel. Upon checking in, I was told that the hotels.com server and actual Hotel Phillips server did not match up and we were sold a room that the Phillips did not have to offer. The staff at the Phillips […] is so top shelf that they called the Marriott across the street and booked us a room AND picked up the tab! Hotel Phillips in KC: True hospitality industry masters! "Great Price for Location"
I was in Kansas City for a week long conference at the Convention Center and the recommended nearby hotels were already booked (Marriot). This small hotel is a stone's throw from the convention center and Power and Light District. The rate was very reasonable and the room was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was very nice, hotels was clean and classy, close to all the downtown attractions. Restaurant in lower level was affordable and the food was good. Parking garage was very close and secure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful hotel but some reservations"
We booked this hotel and were impressed by its high ratings and the fact that it was a restored building. Some of the touches of the old style were left and it was neat to see they kept a lot of integrity but did many modern upgrades. Our room was okay, the wall paper was peeling a bit in the bathroom and our bathroom window had a crack in it. Also […] our room was a bit smaller than the rest but we had a corner so the view was pretty fantastic. During our stay, we had a minor issue with the shower but they took care of it promptly and even offered for us to use another room while they repaired it. The hotel was centrally located near the power and light district as well as the convention center, many great restaurants and attractions were within walking distance. Overall, we would stay there again, the staff was very nice and helpful and the rooms were clean. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Obviously the Hotel Phillips is an older, established business. I'm always worried that staying in an older building will make me uncomfortable but this hotel is squeaky clean! The beds were supper comfy and the room was large enough to move around and not get claustrophobic. The place is beautiful. Another surprise was the restaurant attached to the […] hotel. I had and amazing salad with chive dressing, and my hubby had a chicken sandwich with homemade fries! And pop was only $2.00 a piece. Our bill was around $25.00 which I thought was very reasonable considering we were in downtown. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very Nice Deco Hotel"
Great guest service and wonderful location. Staff was top notch. Walking distance to everything you need. Room was perfect.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel Phillips is a nice hotel, conveniently located by the Power & Light District. The rooms are very small making you feel almost clostrophobic. They overbooked the hotel so two couples in our group had to move to Marriot hotels nearby which was somewhat inconvenient.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very friendly and helpful. Quit and romanticGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's not that great"
The front desk staff was very polite. The valets were curteous and worked quickly. The overall atmosphere was great. An old hotel with the antique look and feel was fascinating. However, I really didn't enjoy my stay here. I could not get over the door to the bathroom being two feet from the head of my bed. That's not my idea of comfort. The sound of […] people talking and the noise of the ice machine made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. I feel the hotel is a great place for a tour but not a great place to stay. "Wonderful room with a view"
The executive king room was very comfortable and easy to work in. The bed was extremely comfortable and left me well rested.Genuine Expedia guest review
"All right but not stellar."
The location is great, but parking seems to be an issue. If there was an option other than valet, no one told me about it, and with multiple events going on in the hotel, the valets seemed overwhelmed at times. The lobby is very interesting and has its classic and graceful charm. The elevators are tiny - also an issue with the number of people trying […] to get up and down them. The room was not as freshly renovated as it appeared on the website. There were some maintenance and housekeeping issues with the room. Our last night there was an issue with the lock and we had to be moved. The MOD was VERY interested in making sure we were happy - she did a great job and the new room was a nice upgrade. We did realize later, though, that someone from housekeeping should have noticed the door issue and had it taken care of (after they had to break into the room to move us we saw that it had not been cleaned). Good communication from housekeeping would have put them on the front edge of our crisis rather than in damage control mode. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Grand Old Dame in Kansas City"
Enjoyed our stay in this old world hotel with gracious staff and accoutrement. Like most 'oldies but goodies', rooms are small and the absence of a refrigerator was missed as we were on a 4-day road trip. The lobby and drinks area was nice but I was honestly expecting a little more grandeur. The bar was also fairly sterile rather than comfy and inviting. […] Location is convenient. A nice stay but would probably choose another option if we ever returned to KC. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is an old hotel that is quaint & nicely updated. I've stayed here 4 or 5 times and have never been in the same layout room. Great location - can walk to Convention and Power & Light area.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Non-Major Brand Hotel!"
The Hotel Phillips is excellently located, staffed by true hospitality professionals, well appointed, and a generally very nice property. Our stay was great. My only complaint is that the mattress in our room was quite hard, but I slept find none-the-less. I would definitely stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
When we checked in at 8 pm, we were told that the hotel's air conditioning had been broken. The AC had been repaired but was still working to cool the rooms. Our room was uncomfortably warm. We went to dinner and returned about 10 pm. The room was a bit cooler, but still warm. By midnight, the room was finally comfortably cool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I stayed one night during Labor Day weekend, which also coincided with the hottest weather Kansas City had experience all summer. So, of course, that's when their cooling tower decided to break down. As a result the room was hot and steamy. Slept uncovered to keep cool. I stayed in room 513. The room was nice, but the restroom was incredibly small. […] The door swings inward which means a bigger person, like me has to step into the bathtub to close the door in order to use the toilet. Converting that door to a pocket door would be a tremendous help. The Valet staff and the Front Desk personnel were outstanding and were very attentive to me and my dog. "Not worth the price but good location"
The hotel is close to the everything but I think it is not worth the price. The room didn't even have a small fridge. The bathroom didn't have enough towels and the bathtub didn't drain water well. When I showered my feet were soaked in water. Clean hotel and very friendly staff but next time I will look for something better for the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice location and staff"
This would be an ideal location for someone wanting to experience downtown KC. We were here on business and the locale was great. However, it is an older property and the room was uncomfortably hot. Not as swanky as some of the large newer chain hotels, but a nice nostalgic property with character.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Access to Convention Center"
It was perfect for what I needed with close access to the convention center.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Although we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Phillips, we've been less than thrilled with the response time of their lost and found department. A pair of eye glasses was left in accidentally in our room and we have been trying, with no success, for a week to get someone to respond to our inquiries.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great downtown location"
We stayed so that we could walk to a concert at the Power and Light District, it was a great locationGenuine Expedia guest review
On a recent trip to Kansas, we were looking for a place to stay and the pictures of this place looked stunning and the price looked to be a steal. On occasion, I have been bitten by this type deal before only to find that the hotel didn't really live up to the pictures. Not so with Hotel Philips. This place was incredible. Old, yes, but nicely remodeled. […] The people were accommodating, friendly and just seemed to want to be of service. The food in the restaurant was not only delicious, but also competitively priced. Thursday night there was live jazz music and wednesday there was a wine and cheese reception also complimentary. We spent some time exploring the hotel and just fell in love with the architecture and design. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in downtown Kansas. "Close to power and light district, sprint center"
Nice "boutique" hotel in Art Deco style. Elevators small. We got a double double room thinking it would have 2 queen beds but there were 2 double beds. My mistake but very small beds for 2 adults. Wsh they would have been queen size. Wish they would have offered contential breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review

This was the second time I have been to this hotel and I've been extremely happy. The hotel is a great place to stay, eat and drink. And for a boutique they have a much better than average gym.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Valet only parking."
The hotel is very nice, but it's definitely geared towards a crowd I'm not used to. Upon check-in I learned that parking was valet only. I had never used valet parking before and had no clue how this worked, I'm sure some of you are laughing at me right now :). It was really strange to me to hand my vehicle over to a complete stranger and have no idea […] where he was taking it. The next morning we had to be at Children's Mercy Hospital EARLY for a procedure. I called down right before we were ready to leave to have the car brought around. Well, duh, I wasn't the only one wanting their vehicle so we ended up having to wait 20 minutes and was late to the hospital. This caused a lot of extra stress to an already stressful event. I would have much preferred to have gotten my own vehicle at my convenience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Very close (walking distance to PnL and the Sprint Center) rooms are decent size however, walls and hallway carry noise. 3 am wake up call from someone else staying on our floor was not pleasant. Overall nice hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hidden Gem nestled in KCMO"
Hotel Phillips is one of those rare finds: incredible service, beautiful presentation, all the amenities you'd expect, and even extra touches (a wine and cheese reception open to all guests). Hotel Phillips is great. Clean lobby, extremely friendly staff. Our room was a good size, was also clean, and looked good. "Kid Free Weekend Getaway"
We booked a queen/king room and were given a room with 2 double beds. Not happy about that and saw other reviews that this apparently happens frequently. Wondering why this happens so frequently? Hotel staff was accommodating in giving us the room we actually did book through Hotels.com. after showing them our email confirmation confirming that we did […] indeed book a queen/king room. The room was really nice and clean. Bed was super comfortable. We would stay at this hotel again. It is very close to The Power and Lights District which is why we came to Kansas City. Unfortunately, the hotel restaurant, 12 Baltimore bartenders were NOT friendly and didn't give us the time of day when we wanted to order our drinks. So we left and went somewhere else. Gave it another shot the next night and waited a long time for a waiter to take our order and then when it came time to pay our bill he was no where to be found. They weren't even very crowded for a Saturday night. I would not recommend going to 12 Baltimore unless you like rude bartenders. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great initial impression but downhill by 2nd day"
Stayed a total of 4 nights. Really cool looking hotel. Lobby was all decked out with historic nicknacks. The room was nice but the bed was only a full size for two people. It sunk in the middle so it was very hard to sleep. No view whatsoever. My issue was with cleanliness. Dust everywhere. Carpet dirty. Missed service on 2nd day and when we asked for […] towels, they just dumped them on the desk instead of removing the dirty towels. No coffee replenishment. The Front Desk staff and the valet staff were all friendly and always welcomed us back. One glitch on the last day with a very enthusiastic desk agent getting us excited for a trip to the art district and everything was closed on arrival. Very poor service at the restaurant. 45 minute delay for breakfast and never checked back for beverage refills. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great service and location"
The closeness of this hotel to the Power and Light district is what drew us to stay here but the service is what would make us return. From valet parking to a complimentary cheese and wine reception upon check in, this hotel knows how to pamper their guests. The 12 Baltimore bar and bistro (the hotel rsstaurant) had romantic ambiance and great live […] jazz music. The only negative about the experience was that the rooms were a little on the small side but the hotel is almost a hundred years old so that is to be expected.
