The hotel is a beautiful, classic property with a lot of character and great service. The rooms are very clean, the restaurant (Grille) was very good, and the spa was outstanding!!! We had wonderful massages that concluded with a terrific lunch and a glass of wine--perfect. I recommend this hotel--and certainly the spa--to anyone visiting York.

The Yorktowne Hotel was a fun change from everyday chain options. It's got great vintage appeal and huge comfortable, clean rooms. The staff was fantastic. Going to the Central Market is a must do too... Will stay again next visit to York, PA.

Beautiful lobby. Had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and it was really tasty and good quality. The room was very spacious and clean. It was nice to stay at a historic hotel reminiscent of the 20s. Payed $8.00 for parking. Just as a side note, many factory tours are closed during the weekends.

I was born and raised near this hotel. This was my first official stay and I will return. The hotel was built in 1925. Some areas do need a little love, although the things that matter are done well. The room was clean and accommodating. The food was excellent. The staff from the valet, desk, and room service were great. I didn't pay a rate expecting […] to be the Four Seasons, yet for the rate I paid it trumped nearly everything in the area. Unfortunately York itself is not safe at night. If you like historic hotels this is great. Yes there are parts that are a little run down but the place has so much ambiance. When we checked in I asked if we could upgrade our room they had no problem doing so because they had an opening. We ordered room service the food was good but the wine was better. The Yorktowne is the best place to stay in York. It's right in the center of the city, convenient to the Strand-Capital theaters, the central market, and lots of restaurants. It has great historic charm, although it it a little worn around the edges. The staff more than makes up for this with their enthusiastic service.

This is a grand and remarkably comfortable vintage (1925 de luxe) hotel in the middle of York's historic district (which goes back to the eighteenth century). I was a little upset by the cleanliness of our room, the bathroom had a bothersome amount of hair as did the duvet. The hotel isn't updated, but that's sort of the purpose of staying at the Yorktowne. The walls are thin so doors opening and closing might disturb a light sleeper. If you like to watch a little TV before falling asleep, you won't find […] a flat screen, HD TV; the big bulky, standard definition TV took a little adjusting on my eyes, but that wasn't something too important for us--we were just relaxing before falling asleep. The location is right in the heart of the city, safety seemed reasonable. Valet parking is $8 plus tax. Overall, the hotel was affordable and comparable to a Holiday Inn as it regards overall value. We didn't eat or drink at the hotel, but they do have an attached restaurant and bar that was occupied when we came back for the evening at around midnight. Read more

I love this hotel but, sadly, it's looking a little tired. The curtains in my room were tattered ... actually shredded in a few places. The mattress also left a good bit to be desired for a restful night's sleep.

!Filthy, dirty, dusty and rust all over room. Stains on carpet, ceiling peeling, wallpaper peeling and dirty. They do not clean the floors. They are in bankruptcy. Downtown in unsafe area at night. Majority of businesses are vacated or closed. Horrible stay.

My wife and I bike to York (on the North Central Rail/York Heritage Trail) once or twice a year, and have always stayed at the Yorktown. It's a very nice old hotel right downtown with many reminders of what York must have been like it its heyday. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are spacious. We had very noisy guests on our floor till about 3 in the morning. The AC units in the room kept going on and off all night long and when they'd go off the room got very humid. Nice historic hotel in an historic area. Friendly, helpful staff at check-in and out, no charge for a requested late check-out. Nice cafe and restaurant. Delicious, inexpensive weekend brunch. Excellent valet parking service. Several excellent restaurants of varying types and minor-league baseball within blocks. Swift room service. Free wi-fi and wi-fi quality and speed excellent in room. Amenities include shampoo but not conditioner. Fitness center is adequate. It's a three-block walk to the trail head of an awesome 21-mile historic rail trail for running, walking, biking. We enjoyed walking around the historic neighborhood. Definitely recommend this as a unique historic option over any of the local standard, nice travel hotels on the outskirts of town where our friends stayed. The Yorktowne is a beautiful historic hotel in the downtown area, everything was wonderful with room, service, staff. Spent a little time walking around York, a real surprise for first visit, so many beautiful historic buildings, more history than we knew of! We will be back to visit York again.

Always look forward to staying at the Yorktowne. This was our fourth time in five years and again enjoyed it's proximity to the downtown area with it's many fine restaurants, sidewalk cafes, shops and museums. We were promptly and cheerfully greeted at the front desk when we arrived and our room was ready at 3:00 pm for check in. Very, very clean!! […] The parking garage is well run and we had no trouble getting our car whenever we needed it. We always feel safe walking around York and it's especially beautiful in the Spring. Market Street has many shops open to the evening hours and Iwe can recommend the "White Rose" for a fine dinner. Take in a baseball game too if you can. There AA baseball team is quite good. Oh yes, we recommend the Harley Davidson factory tour only 2 miles away. Read more

We stayed at the Yorktowne as a family twice in the last month - once with 1 adult/1 teenager and once with 2 adults/2 teenagers for 2 nights for a sports competition in the area. The first stay was in a king room and the bed was huge. I was concerned for the second stay because the beds would be double instead of queen. The hotel is full of old time charm. A really great look back in time. We had a nice window view of the town. In fact, those old time windows were so nice. This was a wonderful experience. Friendly service and the valet guys were wonderful. We plan to come back soon!

Be careful if you need a firm mattress, because the mattresses here are very soft. It is an old hotel with a lot of funky charm, they still use keys, and it is fun to visit!

had a function at the yorktowne, so it was very covenient for me! faucet in tub leaked ( I forget to tell them at checkout)! but did NOT make any noise. I did not book room for this...but description of room said it had a kitchenette. it turned out to be a coffee maker with coffee/tea selection on one of the tables.

We had an enjoyable stay at the York Towne Hotel in the White Rose city of York. My wife and I stayed at the York Towne one night in Feb of 2012. It was built in 1925 - the people of the town raised the money to build a beautiful downtown hotel for the city. It has hosted presidents, sports stars, performers during its years. It is an elegant old place, […] with a great restaurant, a more modestly priced second restaurant and bar. Lovely lobby. They have taken the original smaller rooms of the 1920's and eliminated the dividing walls to turn two old rooms into one new one. When you walk down the halls you see two doors - but one has no handles - left there for show. The rooms are a nice size. Bathrooms are adequate. Everything was clean, well maintained. A small fitness facility. The parking in the adjacent garage was reasonably priced ($8//night). And you are in the heart of the historic part of the town. All of the staff we met were polite and knowledgeable. What's not to like? Read more
