The DoubleTree London Victoria is at an incredibly convenient location. It is 50 meters from an entrance to Victoria Station. We were able to travel throughout London without ever having to hire a cab or rely on any other transportation other than the Underground, a huge plus. The hotel is currently undergoing a renovation. The lobby and restaurant […] area are clean, sleek, and modern. However, the room we stayed in had not yet been renovated. The mattress had many broken springs and was lumpy. The bathroom has a frosted glass door with no door jam, leading to very little privacy. Additionally, none of the electrical outlets near the bed worked. Overall, the hotel worked for us as we were sightseeing in London most of the day and were only in the room to sleep and shower. Hopefully, when they complete the renovations to this hotel, they will fix all of the issues that we took with it. Read more

Great location next to Victoria Station for tube, train and bus transpiration and near some nice pubs, theaters and stores. An easy walk to the Palace and a reasonable walk to Westminister, Big Ben and the London Eye While not the prettiest Double Tree or location from the outside, the inside and our executive room were perfect. The only negative in the room was that our Kings sized bed was rather stiff and it appeared that they were using queen sized sheets. One day out of three housekeeping did a poor job. The toilet seemed to have some issue where it was smelling throughout the duration of my stay. It was clean, but the odor never really went away although I did request another cleaning to room service, who I assume complied. Would stay here again! It would be nice if hotel staff was able to tell us that the hotel is right outside of exit 1 from Victoria station when I called. We ended up looking for it from station exit to exit for a good 5-10 minutes when it's just right outside of the station exit 1, which would have taken us less than 1-2 minutes to get there. In short, […] staff could have been more knowledgeable about giving direction/information instead of keep saying, "it's just right across from the station" without further clarification considering there are 7+ exits from the station leading all directions outside. Located directly across from the side entrance Victoria Train Station (exit near Marks and Spencer snack shop, and across from taxi stand outside), this pleasant hotel was ideal. Fifteen minute walk to Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Thames; another ten minutes further to Buckingham Palace. If you turn right out of the hotel, walk up to Wilton […] Rd. and turn right, you have many cafes, small restaurants, Salisbury grocery store, etc. on a few quiet streets. Victoria Coach Station which runs National Express buses to/from Heathrow Airport is conveniently 3-4 blocks from the hotel and inexpensive at 6 pounds one way. Because it was a very busy transportation area, and the Wicked and Billy Elliott Theatres nearby, it was safe coming back to the area in the evening, though the hotel is located on a very quiet side street so just walk fast on that block. The hotel was nice, as was the entire staff (reception, breakfast room, cleaning crew). The breakfast buffet was good and enough food options were offered. The hotel room facing away from the train station was very quiet. No free Wifi access but two hotel computers were available for use on the business level. We loved everything about this hotel except its ability to offer free Wi-Fi. That was the only missing perk. The location was phenominal! The Breakfast was the best we had our entire 16 day stay in all of Europe! The bed was comfortable. The room clean. Our TV did not work as there was a shortage in the cords so we had no TV for one night and we love […] to watch the news in other countries. The Hotel was supposed to compensate us for the lost of TV for the night for free Wi-Fi, but when we arrived home the Wi-Fi was on our bill. That was the only downside to staying at this Hotel. Small minifridge for our use. Nice towels and bedding. Slept very well and didn't have any problems with the room facing the train station. Only issues, the tube was high to climb into and the towel rack was very high for 5'1" me. I never did figured out how to set or use the alarm clock/radio. The location is convenient although not very eye pleasing. The walls are not sound-proof. You can hear every word when a man in the next room is talking on the phone, you can also hear toilet flushing. The room was clean, but the bed was inconvenient - too soft and bouncy. My wife had a back pain every morning. The worst experience was with the staff. […] We checked that the hotel has free WiFi before booking. At the front desk they tell us that there is no such thing as free wifi. Luckily I had a printout from Expedia that clearly stated otherwise. After that they gave us WiFi codes, each for 24 hours. I had to come back and ask again for more codes. On Friday night the internet was down. They told me they are working on it. Next morning - STILL NO INTERNET. I was shocked. Now listen to this: THERE WAS NO INTERNET IN THE WHOLE HOTEL STARTING FRIDAY AFTERNOON TILL MONDAY MORNING. And they printed a pitiful note saying "sorry - no WiFi" I am sure nobody tried to work on it because of the weekend. This must be a different mentality in UK but I do not think they consider an emergency when few hundred people are left without means to communicate for a few days. It so happened that me and my wife had to be in daily contact with our children back in the US via Skype. It was such a big deal for us that we had to run out to Victoria station late Friday night trying to find a hot spot somewhere while everything was closing. The reception was all right although it took us by surprise to be given a couple of cookies as welcome gift ! Room was clean but no closet,drawers; no mini bar but had a small empty ref that wasnt working. A/c was not functioning well. Not used to not having the a/c or heat when you want it at the rates they are charging. I either froze at night or sweated. If you opt for the $15 internet per day you can only use one per room outstanding location right behind Victoria Station.

The hotel is located across from one of London's busiest train stations. It is noisy and the area feels industrial. The staff is rarely helpful. Rooms are incredibly small, and cleaning is not complete (mold in showers, trash left by beds). They are remodeling and seemed to assign rooms in the "being remodeled now" section according to whomever they […] thought wouldn't complain. Our first room had smoke alarms covered, wires hanging out, and water running from the bath tub overflow. No idea if the water was clean or dirty. We asked for another room, then ran into a staff who didn't want to move excess furniture out of our way so we had room for our suitcases. Breakfast was the same each morning -- boring and no taste. I would suggest strongly that this hotel be avoided. It's not worth any money you would save by comparison to a better hotel, and it's not worth the hassle you have to put up with when you're already tired from traveling. Definitely NOT a four star hotel -- put it somewhere in the negative 1 category and do yourself a favor: Go somewhere else. Read more

When we booked they were advertising free wifi. When we got there they told us if we had it noted on our reservation it would be free, if not cost was 20 pounds for 24 hrs!!! We bought the breakfast package and food was good, well worth the price. Great location, near bus, rail, and underground stations. We were overbooked at Doubletree so we were sent over to the Grosvenor Hotel Victoria. Frustrating, at first as we were a bit fatigued from the long flight. Loved the Grosvenor as we were placed in an Executive suite. We will stay there from now on. Great rooms and service. So the above review is for the Grosvenor Hotel.
