AMERICAS BEST VALUE INN - Lake St Louis

I made reservations prior to arriving to the hotel. It was @ 1:30am when I arrived, which wasn't an issue. The room I was assigned, the heater wasn't working and it was cold. I was given another room and then when I open the door, there is trash still there, bed sheets and blankets off the bed, basically it wasn't finished being cleaned. So, finally […] after a 3rd room attempt I was able to settle in. I had to be up early in the morning and this cost me 30 min of sleep as a result. The bed sheets didn't seem clean and so I slept in my clothes, covering up the pillow w/my own things hoping not to pick up any bed bugs. Their breakfast was a joke really. That didn't bother me much, but it just seemed like they shouldn't even bother with what they put out. The front desk guy was friendly, just think that the place is poorly managed. Read more

We asked for a nonsmoking room and ended up in a smoking room. Need first floor room and had second floor room with no elevator and only outside stairwells. when room was cleaned, bed linene was not changed and the person at the desk was not able to get blanket or comforter. WDE WILL NOT STAY AT ANOTHER Americas Best Value Hotel.

Hotel staff was very friendly. Location is great for a quick stay, but the surrounding area is not great. View out the window was an alley and someone's backdoor with a window a/c on a chair. I went for a class reunion. Upon arrival when I went to the 1st room there was no hair dryer (the add says there are hair dryers in every room) I went to the front desk and the person there just couldn't understand where the hair dryer was. So he booked me in another room, upon checking that room out again there was no hair dryer. Finally in the 3rd […] room there was the hair dryer. I was gone most of the day Saturday and was in a hurry when i got back to the room. Although I had pre-paid for the room I had been locked out. So this was trip #4 to the front desk where he reinstated my key so I could get to my room. It was a good location, the rooms are in total need of a makeover, the pool was out of service along with the hot tub. I would not stay there for any reason in the future. Dirty room, key cards would not work, asked for an extra blanket and an extra ash tray....was told, one per room. loud from traffic. way...understaffed ! Curtins in room were letting in too much light. (torn) The only good thing was the cheap rates.

The bathroom door looked like it had not been cleaned for months. I was given clorox wipes and alot of the dirt came right off. There was a hole in the wall that needed to be patched and the light fixture had wires and light socket hanging. Other guest were making complaints as well.I would not recommend putting this hotel on this web site.

A/C not working in 1st room (100+ outside). A/C worked in the 2nd room, but it was missing towels and soap. Not brought to room - had to go to office to get them. Then we realized the towels were old and yellow stained! Not recommended.

First room had bugs in toilet and toilet paper and pee in the toilet.. Was moved to another room with spiders. Both of those rooms, the phones did not work. Moved to a 3rd room- in which the phone still did not work. They did not come and clean the room at all, for three days. Finally on the 4th day they did. Went to get a soda out of the soda machine and when I got it, it had bugs all over it. So over all , My experience there was horrible and still having trouble getting my money back. Very cheap rates for a hotel room. We just needed a place to crash after a wedding reception away from home and this place was perfect. Check in and out was quick and easy. Staff was very polite. Room was clean and comfortable.

Our room had "stained" dirty sheets, the shower curtain hit us in the head when falling off the wall, the toilet spewed water when you perched on it, and the dust bunnies on top of the tv cabinet could have carried the cabinet out the door!

I don't think I have stayed at a hotel of this kind in my life. Some of the pictures on the site make the rooms look very nice.We did not receive one of these! Smelled like a funeral in the room. cobwebs in the corners and had dirty sheets. Shared balcony with room next door overlooking the pool that was closed in 80 degree weather. Hot tub was down […] for repairs which looked to be for months.Wanted ice for our cooler but ice machine also not working. Wanted a soda,no could not have one of those either because it was sold out. I will say one thing it was close to the Lake St. Louis Community Center where we had a wedding to go to. Unless you just need a bed for the night, do not stay here. The hotel is very run down. The beds are cheap and the pillows were useless. There is a pub on sight with a plethora of drunken, chainsmoking regulars. The hot tub spa is broken and appears to have been that way for years. The pool was in good shape, but the hot tub was under construction. Management lacked towels for the pool. Toilet above us overflowed - hey, it happens - but the mess was cleaned up promptly while we were out.

For the price, this hotel was great. The guy at the front desk was incredibly polite and helpful, even loaning my husband a charger for his cell phone. The rooms were what you'd expect, and the pool was very nice too, pleasant for an afternoon swim with the kids. Breakfast was the only thing that was lacking.
