I read all of the reviews before I booked 2 nights at this hotel.Given the reviews and prices of others in there area, I decided to go with this one. The room and bathroom was clean and maintained. It was clean of any cigarette or cigar smell (I booked a non-smoking room). Bed was comfortable. Bathroom light had both an adjustubale timer and an on/off […] switch. TV had an annoying bright blue LED light in the off position (no problem, I just unplugged it). I stayed two nights and the room was super clean when the cleaning lady cleaned it the next morning (It was so clean that the fridge that held 1 day worth of food in tupperwares was cleaned/thrown out -I was looking forward to preparing and cooking the food on my trip back to california and was a bit disappointed.). I complained to the front desk, but they did not do anything. On Sat night, I used the jacuzzi,and I saw a stagnant layer of dirt on the side of the jacuzzi wall and a thin layer of dirt sitting on the bubbles on the top of the water. Overall, for a 2 star hotel, the room was clean, quiet and comfortable, but there are other hotels in the area for cheaper with comparable quality. Read more

Quiet enough area. Carlsbad caves are magnificent, but apart from that its only ok, nicer towns to stay in, and no pubs open on Sundays? Disaster. Not an alco but wouldn't have minded one or two.

We stayed there for two nights during a short vacation. We requested a first floor non-smoking room and got it. The room is average size, with a very small bathroom. Beds were comfortable. Air conditioner can be quieter. Carpet was old. Dusty and fraying at the edges against the walls. Water pressure in shower was good. Breakfast includes nice waffles […] but not a big selection. They pasted printout signs to remind you to remove your trash in the breakfast area - chessy. The only reason we stayed there was that it was the cheapest out of the ok selections of hotels in the small town of Carlsbad. Read more

The staff was friendly, the room was reasonable and comfortable. Restaurants are close by, but only one pizza place delivers. We'll definitely consider staying here again when we go back to see the caverns.

The hotel was easy to find, being on the road to the Caverns. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioner wasn't too noisy. When we went to breakfast there was plenty of cerial, bagels, and waffel batter. The lady at the front desk was friendly and knowledgable of all the attractions and how to get to them. What a mess. The bins were overflowing and there were cigarette butts everywhere. You've gotta be kidding. The breakfast was limited. The area was tight and not particularly tidy. I didn't get what I paid for and won't be returning. I'm also going to think 2x about Days Inn.

So much for non-smoking! Don't be fooled, there is only so much that can be done about masking the smokey smell. The stairwells were disgusting, filled with cigarette butts and they stunk. I had no huge gripes about this room. It was clean, well maintained, spacious and comfortable. It was great until I was about to go to sleep and went to turn off the light by the bathroom. But there was no switch to turn it off! I was stuck sleeping with this light on the rest of the night. I found that extremely odd and disruptive. Also, the refrigerator […] made an annoying buzzing noise the entire time and would not shut up. Also, the location was close to the Caverns but in a shady area. We stayed in a king sized. The room was clean, the hot tub down the way was hot, there weren't any sketchy moments, the AC worked well, the TV was big enough, and it is right on the main street that leads you to Carlsbad Caverns. The rate was a little steep but I was overall satisfied. Yayyyyy

Decent hotel for the price range, but there were two things we found unpleasant: even though we had a non-smoking room, we could smell smoke in the bathroom periodically (don't know if it came through the vent) and they have a sign displayed in the lobby saying you can't take breakfast items back to your room!!!!

Face it. All Carlsbad hotels are ridiculously over-priced. It's a free-market decision; you'll either drive a couple of hours to Roswell/Ft. Stockton (depending on the direction you're driving), or put up with the greed. So, that said, my room was the best of all available evils. We arrived at the Days Inn were assigned a room and when we walked in all the lights were on, the TV was blaring and the room was clearly used without being cleaned. All the trash cans were full of trash, there was ointment on the back of the toilet, shower stuff in the tub and worst of all there was a breathing nose strip stuck to the head board. When […] we notified the staff we were told we could not have a new room and that maybe the maids had missed a few things, these things were so obvious it's clear no one ever even entered the room to clean. It was in a good location but I had trouble at check in. They did not honor the rates I got from hotels.com and they put me in a smoking room when I requested nonsmoking. I'm always surprised at how one of the world's natural wonders attracts people from all over the world and the city of Carlsbad and Roswell, both, seem to fail at capitalizing on that. MANY people are in and out of this and neighboring hotels but the hotel owners do not seem interested in providing more than the bare minimum because there is no threat […] of losing business. People need a place to stay and "settling" for average accommodations and absolutely nothing else to enjoy in the city is just the reality of the situation. My husband and I do not expect nor need the Ritz for the rate we had but the use of the extension hose in the vacuum cleaner to clean the corners of the room and a quick mending of falling curtains would be appreciated. The uninterested desk clerk might have been provided some coffee for a little pep so that we didn't have to do all the work at being courteous.
