Harveys Resort & Casino - Stateline

Is has been a few years since we visited Lake Tahoe as the hotels had lost their ratings and we lost interest in Harrah's and Harvey's. Our stay this time was a good one and we were pleasantly suprised at the comfort of our room and the friendly and helpful staff.

This was my second stay at Harvey's. This time I did not request a particular floor, etc because I was staying only one night by myself and got the 4th floor. Next time I will request a higher floor like the previous trip. Only because my "view" was of the roof and the air conditioners right outside the window. The last time with a "above the tree line" […] view, it was stunning! Other than that, the service, food (ate at Hard Rock because the Cabo Cantina restaurant was closed for the evening), and room were excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. The internet worked well and I enjoyed some time in the casino. I was only there for a Friday night, so I wish the Cantina was open later, because the band was good. The hotel was clean and the gaming fun. The bed was comfortable, but the air conditioner was very noisy all night. Management made no concessions despite the fact that we had a hard time getting good rest.

Overall the hotel is nice and I like the area, but I was surprised with the extra$ for Resort fee even though it was not a lot of money. I would have liked a coffee pot of some sort in the room, but the property is nice with lots to do. We went dancing at Cabo Wabo Cantina (Great time) and had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe (OK).

Hidden in the fine print of this booking is a "resort fee." This fee is not charged to you when you book the hotel, rather it is charged when you check in. It is not easily visible so when I checked in I was surprised to find out. If I had known about it, I would not have booked my stay with this hotel. As I was explaining this to the clerk when I checked […] in, I was redirected to a manager who was very, very rude to me. She was downright insulting. Her rude treatment of me ruined my entire experience at the hotel. After that interaction I was in a bad mood and did not have a good time whatsoever. The "RESORT FEE" should have been simply included in the price of the room, but the bigger problem was that the hotel staff was so rude and insulting about it. I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. THE QUALITY OF SERVICE IS EXTREMELY POOR. Read more

Had a wonderful time, staff very helpful and friendly. Got a standard 2 queen room, would have liked to have a coffee pot and refrigerator in room. One of the only hotel rooms I've stayed in lately that did not have those amenities. Checked in pretty late, approx. 11:00pm, told only available room was #666, tryed to ask for a free upgrade but was turned […] down. It was fine except there was a large wedding party that was booked on the same floor. Needless to say, they were partying, laughing, screaming the whole night, slamming doors, partying right outside our door, all through the hallway.

Stayed in the older section, Mountain tower, but rooms were in great shape and very clean. Asthma sufferer had no problems at all. Front desk clerk at check in was extremely nice.

Harvey's is a 5 minute walk to the gondola for Heavenly. We rented equipment at the base of the gondola so this was the most pleasant and easy skiing experience we've ever had. The hotel staff told us about rental deals. Our room was perfectly in today's style with great decorations and linens, the shower was clean and strong. The lighting was a little […] on the dark side. Make sure you understand the internet charges - you will be charged a resort fee but if you don't use the internet it is cut in half. I had a great room. The bed was actually comfortable, unlike most hotel beds. The room and bathroom were immaculate. The bathroom had a tub and separate shower; counter space was the only thing not in abundance. The view was spectacular--both the Sierras and Lake Tahoe were visible. Location and views were excellent. The rooms had old ugly chipped furniture. The hotel smelled like smoke throughout which you could say is typical in Nevada hotels. Still memorable but they could make some improvements.

If you are in South Lake Tahoe this is OK place to stay. Centrally located in the town. The bed was very comfortable but absolutely no way to read in the room as only one dim light. We stayed at Harvey's for its proximity to the Heavenly gondola. It is a two block walk. The hotel decor is dated, but the staff is friendly. Since we weren't there for the gambling, the hallways can be very noisy at night with revelers going back and forth from rooms to casinos, which isn't great if you are trying to sleep.

Don't let the third tier "premium" room fool you; the furniture and fixtures are REALLY dated and our carpet had tears in multiple places. The rooms do not match the lobby. Minus: the overly aggressive time-share salesman stepping in front of my wife, small child and I as we attempted to walk by to get on the escalators. Poor taste. I normally stay at Harrah's when I am in South Lake Tahoe. The rooms at Harrah's are more spacious and a lot nicer. I did not care for Harvey's and won't be staying there again.

The only reason we got into this hotel for under 140, was because they put us in the absolute smallest room. I have stayed at Harvey's on numerous occasions, and never had such a ridiculously small room. The first room they offered was across from the elevator on the sixth floor facing west. I was at Harveys the previous week and loved my room, this time around I had a much smaller room (maybe the smallest hotel room I've ever had) but it had a great view...of the roof and all the utilities vents and such. Seems as this was an older part of the casino. I noticed at one point that there were three screws on the ground as if someone was trying […] to disassemble the furniture. Walls were also paper thin. I could hear my next door neighbor shaking what sounded like a bottle of pills, detailed conversations, sneezing, coughing... Also had items stolen from my truck that was parked in the garage. The biggest complaint I had is about the mattress... IT WAS GARBAGE! It was sagging really badly and the springs made crunching noises every time you rolled over. I think it's time to replace them! Oh, get better TV's also!
