I arrived and was informed they had no water and they would not have any until 5am the next morning. Of course since the hotel was non-refundable I could not go somewhere else. "No hot water"
On my first morning there was no hot water to take a shower. I call the front desk and they sent up maintenance. He spent around 20 minutes try to fix it and then said he would go down stairs and it should work in 5 minutes. After 25 minutes and several calls down stairs, I finally gave up and asked that I move to another room. Quickly I packed up and […] as I was moving the person in the hall said he had not hot water and had to take a cold shower. He also said the day before he had no water for several hours. I am sorry but that is unacceptable. I also heard other people coming to the front desk and complaining. If they knew there was issues with the water, they should not have put people in the rooms that had no hot water. Now they did offer to bring me breakfast and gave me a few free drink coupons and I appreciate that but if something is wrong with the water, they need to notify their guests. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly, helping find restaurants in the area and helping with packing our stuff for leaving when I failed to plan properly. However, a few things I found irksome. First, the water pressure and temperature was atrocious. It took about 30 minutes for the water to reach warm enough to get in and even then, the pressure […] was so low that it was difficult to wash. Second, and maybe not so much with the hotel, but I picked this property based on the Hotels.com stating it had a continental breakfast. It does, but it is not included in the price. It's an additional charge. When listed with a continental breakfast on the site and others that don't, I'm thinking it's included. Perhaps error on my part, but that ended up being money I hadn't anticipated to spend. Lastly, the room layout in regards to the door was a bit odd. There was a chair and ottoman right inside that made it difficult to get in with suitcases and bags. A minor inconvenience and most likely specific to certain rooms. Not a huge deal. All in all, a decent place to crash after having been at the convention center all day. Easy to get to and plenty of restaurants and things to do around it. I made a reservation at this hotel because we inadvertently came to Austin on a TU game weekend, and it was literally one of the last open rooms I could find. But once we got there my concern over it being next to the highway and having too much traffic noise was unsubstantiated. Traffic noise was never an issue. The full breakfast for an additional fee was irritating at first, but realized quickly it was a fair price for the amount and quality of food offered. Plus my son only got oatmeal and some milk and they charged him a per item price instead of the full buffet price which I appreciated. The hotel was also very convenient for getting around Austin as it is located at a crossroads of two major arteries. Plus there were tons of restaurants nearby and almost any of the large retail stores you might need. The only complaint I have was the room felt very small, especially in the bath area.
