"Nice, but not perfect"
We liked the fantastic setting and were more than happy with our upgrade to a pool villa. Very nice architeture and a private Pool larger than many Main pool. Unfortunatly the food and some members of the staff were not that Good like we expected. The first evening we sat in the Bar area ( nice place indeed) . It came to midnight and the ladies made us feel uncomfortable because they to close. A simple polite Last order call would have been nicer. We disliked the food in the italien restaurant. I had baby lobster and the meat was stuck in the shell. Hard to get it out. The kitchen should have prepared it better. The rest was close to perfection, but the whole Atmosphere in Amanpulo Phillipines is better.

My husband and I stayed at Amanpuri for 4 nights at the end of our 2 week tour of Thailand and, like most other reviewers, felt that this is an outstanding hotel that exceeded our high expectations. The hotel is absolutely beautiful! Even after 26 years this property is still superb and didn't loose anything of its excellence. The ambience is warm and understated and the beach is the nicest in Phuket. The service is impeccable, discreet but anticipating your every need. At our arrival, we were warmly greeted by Sandra (the Hotel Manager) and her team and we really appreciate the efforts she made throughout our stay to make us feel welcomed as guests at this amazing resort. Housekeeping, drivers and all personnel at the lobby area were very friendly and highly efficient. Nothing was too difficult for the staff to organise or help with. Food was consistently excellent and the quality of the treatments of the Amanpuri spa were exceptional. We book Aman I ( a 60ft yacht) for a private full day tour cruise to Phang Nga Bay and this was the highlight of our trip to Phuket. The crew were amazing and the food was out of this world. Highly recommended!! Loved the beach barbecue (candles covering the steps leading down to the beach) and the afternoon tea. Special thanks to Nueng, Arucha, Chang, the Aman I crew, the beach boys and many thanks to Sandra.
"still very good"

After one year, again on Phuket, Trisara last time....good old Amanpuri, back there after 20 years. The resort doesn't really show it's age, is very well maintained and spotless. Of course rooms aren't what you would expect today in this category but still charming and comfortable. Rooms are all identical no matter the category! Do on all accounts avoid the simple "pavilions"! they are too close to the road traversing the resort, which actually adds quite a bit of traffic noise.... Service very friendly, sometimes a bit disorganized, but no complaints there. The two restaurants are good but not more! Generally this shows that you don't go to Aman for the food (even in Venice). This should be improved...Trisara much better here.... A major gripe: the wine list is impossible. We know wine is prohibitively expensive in Thailand for tax reasons. But at the price one can expect an updated list. Notably the simple whites were old vintages hardly drinkable with pleasure. This must be corrected! The location of the resort and beach is superb, also the beach service...this beats Trisara All in all the major draw is the beach and situation, we spent a thoroughly relaxing six days and would certainly recommend it to people looking for quiet ...A good hotel even after 25 years, many repeaters
"Overrated and overpriced!"

We have been regular guests at Aman resorts for several years. However it has become gradually clear to us that as Aman continue to expand, the quality and standard of their services seems to have started to deteriorate. Amanpuri is the case in point. We stayed 4 nights at Amanpuri having already stayed another 4 nights at the new Como’s Point Yamu Hotel in Phuket, at a price of almost 4 times cheaper! Even ignoring the price differential, Point Yamu compared quite favorably against Amanpuri. Although Amanpuri benefits from a classic design and has its own beautiful beach, Point Yamu provided similar standard of luxury and comfortable accommodation, and much better quality food including a fantastic breakfast. Above all though point Yamu far exceeded Amanpuri in the quality of staff service. There was an air of complacency at Amanpuri with staff service being “official” and “formal”, but lacking warmth and not feeling “real”. At the time of the check out we asked whether the hotel would seek out our feedback and the answer to that was that we do not!. I guess this proves the “complacency” point. We will not return to Amanpuri and would avoid other Aman hotels where we can find a good alternative.

Best hotel in the World!! Can't wait to come back! Best location. Best service. Best rooms. Best Beach. Best Ceasar Salat....:) Best everything!! Oh yes, and I have been around...trust me. You will not regret to come here! I just love the smart elegance at Amanpuri.
"Well worth it"

We stayed at Amanpuri (our first Aman experience, and hopefully not our last) last February at the end of a two week trip. We stayed in an oceanview villa with a private pool and it was beautiful. Nice finishes, fresh flowers around the room and very private (notwithstanding that there were other villas in close proximity). The property seemed almost deserted at times (I think were only two other people at the Japanese restaurant for dinner one night) but that wasn't a bad thing as it felt like you had a resort to yourself! Great service on the beach- water is brought to you, chairs are adjusted upon request. The beach is big (there are two areas) and they have a bunch of watersports available. The Thai and Japanese restaurants were both great (and we had just arrived from Tokyo); I asked for a small side of tempura flakes for my sushi and five minutes later, a large plate of freshly prepared tempura was delivered. The gym is nice- a decent number of cardio machines, lots of windows and really tasty (and hopefully healthy...) homemade granola bars. All in all, while Amanpuri was certainly not cheap, it was well worth the cost. Fantastic property!
"Thai restaurant "

My husband and I just come back from our dinner in the Thai restaurant in Amanpuri Hotel Phuket. It's our second visit in almost 2 years and we're still fascinating from the location, the restaurant, the food and the great atmosphere! The staff is very kind and quick in serving and they speak/understand good English! As an appetizer we had a tuna tartar and salmon spring rolls and for main course we had dried red curry with tiger prawns and steamed jasmine rice and wagyu beef on grill with fried vegetable rice. The food was quickly servers and was delicious! While dinning the lovely orchestra of 3 people played nice authentic Thai 'kling klong' music. All over the restaurant/bar/pool area there were candles which gave the dinning a mixture of an extra touch of mystique and romantic atmosphere. It's always a pleasure dinning at the Amanpuri.
"Spacious and excellent staff"

This was a great place, we booked it as the first stop of a best-of-the-best tour of the region with Andaman Sky, who got us nice prices here and elsewhere. Great resort, from the moment we arrived at the airport every whim and desire was met with a smile. The airport transfer was smooth and we were met by one of the managers and shown round the resort. The spacious pavilions (can’t call them rooms because they are detached, too small to be villas but too grand to be just bungalows) feature the use of beautiful teak beams. Our five nights passed by too quickly and we were sad to leave the Amanpuri, as it is easily one of the best resorts we have ever stayed at. The pavilions are very Thai influenced, nothing was better than lying in our private sala cuddling and listening to the afternoon rain (who says rain has to mean holiday disappointment?) Our travel agent told the resort that it was my wife’s birthday and when we got back to our villa after dinner, our room was lit with loads of candles and decorated with pretty flowers. We will definitely come back.
"Stay here if you can afford it"

This is absolutely Paradise, It also is the nicest hotel in Phuket. We were here on our honeymoon and they could not have treated us any better. The service is so unbeleivable, we received exotic fruit and cookies in our available all day (and replenished). There was complimentary tea at 4:30-5:30 with awesome snacks. They food was all good at the resort although somewhat expensive. This is not a place to expect to find "deals" at, you pay alot but get the kind of service you would expect for it. The staff makes you feel at home, all waiting to greet you when you arrive and will waive to you goodbye in your complimentary 7 series BMW which they picked us up in and dropped off. If you want to splurge look no further.
So in my review I accidently selected kids activities which we didn't have little ones but the pool was gorgeous which I'm sure kids would love. Anyway we had a 3 suite "bungalow" with a private pool a house keeper and a chef for a week. We were treated like rock stars! Actually better cuz we didn't get thrown out and our house help was sad to see us go as we were sad to leave them. the environment was incredible, very relaxing, very luxurious, very, very, very. Ugh, so when you get there, all you have to do is remember to breath. What a great place to do a whole lot of nothing to fill your day or find something to do and still feel relaxed. The one place to go where you don't need a vacation to recover from your vacation.
