"Poor consumer experience design"
The hotel is bizarre. The parking situation required you to enter a different hotel up and down 2 flights of stairs with luggage then the spaces are tight and entry and exit to the underground is tricky to say the least. The rooms are designed without a shower door so there is a cold draft in the shower unless you close the door but then the steam completely […] fills the tiny bathroom. The hotel rooms are designed to have the people on the other side of the square the ability to look in if your curtains at not drawn. Silly intrusive design. Also rooms are not cell friendly if you get a corner room. Aveda toiletries products are only saving grace. There is a Starbucks a block away. Decent downtown location. "One night in the city"
Pleasant. Great location. Staff very helpful. Nice bath products. Parking not on sight.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel Indigo is a delightful change from a big hotel. Our room was clean and modern. The hotel décor is retro and trendy. Staff are nice. Conveniently located close to the World Exchange where you can park for free on the weekend. Only complaint is that we got back to the hotel at around midnight on a Friday expecting to have a drink at the bar and […] the bar was already closed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in downtown Ottawa"
Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to everything in downtown Ottawa.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Central small Hotel in Ottawa"
This hotel is a short walk from Parliament and therefore quite central for exploring Ottawa. We have paid much more for other centrally located hotels in the past. Whereas the hotel Indigo is more compact than other larger hotels it was comfortable and modern and had all the facilities we needed for a two night stay. The swimming pool is part of the […] larger Marriot suite hotel next door but was quite convenient and linked by a corridor. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Booked reservation for room with 2 queen beds 2 weeks ago. Room check in was 3PM with guarantee until midnight. Arrived at hotel just after 8PM after 4.5 hour drive. We were told the room was not ready. They were overbooked and had a late check out. Front desk offered a room with a king bed and rolling cot. Unacceptable to expect an adult to sleep on […] a cot when the reservation was booked so far in advance. Front desk was stumped as to what else to do. I guess the cleaning staff don't work during the evening. They finally found some staff who reluctantly went to clean a room. We had to wait nearly an hour for our room to be cleaned. Prior guests must have trashed it. Manager offered us breakfast and a free movie. By 9:30 we were too tired and irritated to watch a movie and we already had breakfast plans. As compensation we were offered free parking. If you have a truck or SUV you need to park in a designated area at the back of the hotel. To access this area you need to drive down a narrow alleyway off of Laurier St. The entrance to the alley was blocked by someone who parked on Laurier. Compensation for parking was worthless because we had to park on the street. The pictures of the hotel rooms on the website are deceiving. Rooms are small and the walls and floors are paper thin. You hear everything in the rooms around you from doors slamming, conversations and parties down the hall. Go to the Westin, Lord Elgin or even the Holiday Inn or Albert at Bay. "Perfect if you're looking for a quiet place to sta"
The hotel was very clean and quiet. We would definitely consider staying here again on our next visit to Ottawa.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Within acceptable level."
Overall it was good. Though the pictures of the hotel rooms/amenities were a bit misleading. The pictures were definitely photoshop where I thought it'd be bigger or much bigger for that matter. Used some type of 3D or stretch features where you'd think it looks bigger than reality. I suppose that's normal. Parking is quite small as suspected since […] space is premium at downtown core. Another point is I think the front desk resources need to be brushed up on their customer service skills; not all - just the one out of the 4 that I saw. Works at day shift and finished around 4:30P or earlier. As I deal w/various people on the multi-level corporate world, I perceived the attitude of "do what you want, I don't really care" attitude. As well as not fully willing to help. Aside from that, all is well and at acceptable level for this price range; could be improve for sure. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would be nice in summer"
The room was cold and we needed to get a space heater in order to get any heat in the roomGenuine Expedia guest review
It was a great experience to be on Ottawa! The location of the hotel is phantastic, distances are very short! The cleaniness of the room could be a little better, but only when you look under the bed and in the corners ( dust and dirt not only from the last customer!!) The restaurant is ok, the voucher system for the breakfast is ok, but should be extended […] to the children if booked with children!!! That was a surprise. The service is absolutely kind and helpful. Parking costs 21 CAD a night, which is ok, but should be clearly visible or explained when arriving to avoid late surprises. Availability of pool and gym in adjustant Marriott is great. Marriott should take better care for availability of towels and should put signs up, that the area should not be entered with street shoes (which is abviously not commen sense). Overall good and we will come back!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy and close to everything"
Very helpful and cheerful staff. Within walking distance of Winterlude fun, the Parliament buildings the Byward Market, the National Gallery, and Chinatown. The Aveda toiletries are a nice touch. The only thing I didn't like was the small vestibule that let a crack of hallway light in through the night.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel in the core of downtown Ottawa."
I chose this hotel because I regularly stay at the Hotel Indigo in Sarasota, Florida. The rooms are large and well laid out. The furniture and decor is understated, not fussy like a lot of hotels. And the floors are not covered in questionable carpeting... Very important. Everything is neat & clean. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and […] accommodating. We were served within minutes of arriving. Overall, my experience at this hotel was great. No complaints. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Boutique menu only"
They say that, in life, there's no such thing as a free lunch. And neither is breakfast at this hotel. The menu may be delicious but it was pricey compared to other local offerings. The room was very small and all the preview pictures made the hotel look much more impressive than it is. Real pain in the neck to get in and out of parking and, at $23/day, […] also expensive - but you can wash your car if you want to. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was great in all aspects, room was very comfortable, staff friendly, great leisure facilties and close to major attractions - would for sure stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Front desk staff was nice enough to tell me parking in Ottawa on the street is free over the weekend. Parked infront of hotel for 2 days, no problem. Saved me the extra underground parking fee's.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Indigo - Go!"
Great hotel for a place to crash as we hit the Capital for the night. Small rooms, but exactly what we wanted and needed.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Long Weekend in Ottawa"
Hotel Indigo was a great choice - its convenient location near Parliament Hill, the National Gallery, the Rideau Shopping Centre and Byward Market make it a very convenient place to stay. The overall hotel quality was very good - rooms were very clean and well appointed - good value for the price; although we had second floor rooms we didn't experience […] a lot of street noise or disturbances. The hotel restaurant does a very nice breakfast which was the only meal we ate in-house as there's just so many other choices nearby. As many of the other reviews indicate, the only hassle is the parkade which is shared with the Marriott Hotel next door....it's awkward to get to with the one way streets and very narrow inside with opposing lane traffic trying to share what is only a single-wide lane. Indigo parkers are relegated to the third level....Make sure to park right outside the hotel entrance until you've checked in and dropped off your luggage; they'll let you occupy that spot for 20-mins. Don't take your luggage into the parkade as you'll have to wrestle it around to get to the hotel - the same holds true for check-out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretend Boutique Hotel"
The images on the website make it out to look like a swanky boutique hotel. It simply looks like they tried to put some work into renovating an older run down hotel, but without much success as they cut corners. Rooms are small, but tidy and clean. Staff were fine. Parking was expensive and in a sketchy and very tight underground parking lot that it […] shares with the neighboring hotel...you need to walk through the other hotel to get to the parking and carry your luggage. We would not stay here again...there are better hotels for the same price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice/modern hotel downtown Ottawa"
Nice hotel, no major complaints. Under ground parking is a bit annoying/confusing to get back to the Indigo, but staff give you pretty good instructions. Price of parking really adds to the cost of the hotel. We hadn't thought of that when we booked it. The main lobby constantly smelled like caramel or something, which was gross after a while.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Location - Great!"
The comfort of the room was rated 3 because it felt obstructed and for such a small room I had to walk 'far' just to sit on the couch which was not comfortable to sit on; although it was comfortable to sleep on (it was a pull out bed/couch).Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good central location for sight seeing trip"
With only 36 hours for sight seeing trip this was a very central location with good facilitiesGenuine Expedia guest review
Our room was cramped, the bed (a Queen instead of the King we booked) was hard and the bedspread so heavy - we felt like panninis? The bathroom was miniscule and dingy (peeling wallpaper). The laminate floors felt cheap and the ugly mural behind the bed made me feel like I was camped out in a 13 year-olds bedroom. The window overlooked a ventilation […] shaft. The parking garage was frightening - two way traffic in a space designed for one way. Sorry, nothing positive to say about this place that positions itself as a boutique hotel. Try the ARC for an authentic boutique hotel experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good choice for downtown Ottawa"
Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to uOttawa, Parliament Hill, etc. It's worse to use valet service as it is only $4 more than self-parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nicely situated downtown, close to restaurants"
Only used hotel to sleep, so I did not spend much time in the room. Beds were crammed in with the chest of drawers on which the TV sat. The desk next to the chest was crammed into the corner. I could barely turn around. I would not recommend this room for large people - it would be quite tight. The bathrooms are nice. However, they could be a cleaner. […] White tiles with dirty grout is something that I don't like. The only window was filthy, like it hadn't been washed in years. Waking up and opening the curtains to dirty window is off-putting no matter how sunny it is. Elgin Street has a number of good and great restaurants. Elgin Street Diner is a must. 24 hours. Ron & Kate are there most mornings. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Close to Everything"
Right downtown, close to Parliament, the market, easy to get to, just what we needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed one night at Indigo and the indoor pool required some maintenance so it was closed. The main reason for us booking at this hotel was for the pool and the location. The staff was great. Room was very nice and clean. The parking is a surcharge... It is not well written on the hotel description... First come first served but what they mean about […] that is that you park at the Marriott and if there is no more parking, they will credit your parking from another hotel parking... "A Great Stay"
Hotel Indigo was recommended to us by friends & now we will certainly be recommending it to others. The staff was great and our room was perfect - clean & modern, complete with aveda products :) The restaurant was quite pricey for pretty average meals, but the location is central - just down from the parliment buildings and a 5min walk from the market […] - so many options for food & entertainment.
