The hotel is nicely located. I booked this hotel through hotels.com. However, I was charged again by the hotel at checkout. It was fixed after a few checks here and there. This shouldn't happen. the bed was miserably uncomfortable. While the food we ordered from room service was fine....there was nothing that came with it- no salt, pepper, ketchup and the like which I expect when ordering room service.

We were impressed with how close the location was to the mall. The setting helped us to feel rich and though we were dressed casually, we weren't treated any differently. Overall, this is a great place. This is the second place we've stayed at with the sleep number beds, and truly for the amount the hotel must be paying to have these beds, they did not work and we found them to very inconsistent in sleeping comfort quality. Overall excellent! Only problem was with a loud party in adjacent rooms at 2 to 3 AM. Once I called the desk and security responded, the problem was resolved. The staff at this hotel is above and beyond superb! The greatest staff I've ever encountered! Restaurant staff, led by Jammie stood out even more!

Our welcome included cookies; the staff was VERY attentive throughout our stay. We were greeted every time we walked into the lobby and asked if we needed anything. The pool and hot tub were nice. All was perfect except that we were unable to use the Hot Tub on Monday Morning, We specifically booked that hotel because it had a spa and pool, but the hotel "cleans" the Hot Tub every Monday morning between 8 and 11. With checkout being at 11:00 and needing to get back on the road, it made it impossible for us to enjoy the Hot Tub. Cleanlinss of room was inconsistent. Room was very nice but not all housekeeping tasks were done...we had to call at least once each day for towels or other room service items. One day it did not get serviced at all and it was a bit of a hastle to get it done late in the evening.

I wanted a nice hotel for my mother and stepdad to stay at when they came to visit. I opted to spend extra money for this room vs other more economic chains. For what I paid for this room I could almost get two nights at another hotel. I would rate this hotel as just OK or average. The room had no small fridge, microwave, or coffee maker. The next two nights my mother stayed at a super8 which in my opinion was just as nice and did in fact include the fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. We had stayed at the DoubleTree a few weeks ago when we went to bring our daughter to college. A few things were very disappointing. First of all when we were getting checked in the front desk manager, before he completed our transaction, went to assist another guest. We were left there wondering if he was done with us and if we could go to our room […] but then we realized we hadn't gotten our key yet so we had to ask the lady there who was in training if we were done and if we could have our key. The welcome was friendly and the cookies were great but there is no excuse to be "left" without even an apology. Our room had a sock left next to the chair and a bobby pin was on the floor in between the beds. So we were left to wonder if the room was vacuumed at all. Otherwise the room was nicely decorated and larger than a lot of hotel rooms we have stayed in. We ordered room service which took an hour (we were told 30min) to arrive and by then was only slightly warm. The server never apologized for the delay (she had first gone to the wrong room) a phone call from room service would have been nice as well as an apology from the server.Our daughter has 3 more years of college so I know we will have to travel to Pittsburgh area quite a bit in the future. The area was very convenient but we will be looking for a different hotel next time. We are usually very pleased with the Hilton chain but this experience was disappointing! Read more
