The staff was wonderful. The coffee machine needed maintenance part of the time we were there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good overall value"
The room met our needs. The location was great. The room was very clean but VERY, very small. There is virtually no counter space in the bathroom and a small desk in the room itself. The room lighting was VERY, VERY (did I say VERY) dark making it challenging to get dressed (hair and makeup). Service in general was excellent! Particularly, Robert. […] I am not sure if he is a part of the concierge team but he was WONDERFUL!!!! He took the time to recommend us to places to eat, see and experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean and comfortable"
From the moment we walked in, the staff were friendly and efficient. They anticipated our needs and made sure we were comfortable. The pillows are great. The sink in the bathroom is a little too small, but the shower was really nice. Overall, an excellent hotel experience. GREAT LOCATION, too.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great NYC hotel!"
The staff is fantastic/location is perfect - close to Times Square and Grand Central. Room is spacious for New York. No dresser so be prepared to hang clothes.Genuine Expedia guest review
"small but not uncomforable"
we had to move rooms as the original wall was along a back wall with a huge motor sound outside our room. the hotel staff did whatever we wanted to make ourselves happy. There is only internet in the lobby not in the rooms which was a pain. Overall the staff made up for it and we would stay again. The lemon water in the lobby is a nice touch.Genuine Expedia guest review
We order the smalll room and it was a bit too tight. Trouble with TV but staff extremely helpful..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Weekend in NY"
Great. Went to New York to propose and the Hotel was in a great location and provided a great backdrop to the weekend. The concierge and staff were helpful. Great little bar with an awesome skylight. Drinks were a bit pricey, but the bar tender played Whiskeytown over the speakers so that won points. The rooms are a tad small and the hallways are narrow, […] but heck it's New York and you're a block from Bryant Park, and a 12 minute walk from Central Park. I'd stay there again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location and Hotel"
This was a great place to stay to see and do everything in NYC! Staff was great and while the rooms are small, they are nicely appointed and comfortable. Only slight issue was the coffee maker wasn't great in the lobby and internet was only free in the common areas, not the room. I felt it should have been advertised that way.Genuine Expedia guest review
Excellent location at a fair price. Old charming building. Rooms however are very small and when you have a room on court side, they are quite dark as well. Excellent price if you only need the room to sleep in a very convenient neighborhood. Hotel staff was very pleasant, and coffee machine in lobby made good coffee.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming, comfortable, and welcoming."
Staff was very accomodating. Hotel was clean and in good condition. I choose hotels that promise "character and charm" and I was not disappointed. The room was very comfortable, but small. I felt I could leave to do other things. It was nicely remodeled with up to date bathroom fixtures. Very clean.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Stylish, Affordable and Convenient"
This is a great hotel for the business traveler. The rooms are a little Spartan, but offer adequate desk space and free wifi. Common areas are charming. Food service is limited--breakfast only, but there are many good restaurants nearby. An easy walk to Grand Central, Times Square and the Theater District. Good value for the money.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great couples retreat!"
The Mansfield is located right in the heart of midtown. Two blocks from Times Square and the theater district, half a block from 5th Avenue, and plenty of transportation stations (subway) within a short walking distance. The hotel itself has it's charm. Having been to NYC before I expected the room to be small, we stayed in a Guest Room (Queen size […] bed#, and the room was a "comfy" size. A little tight in some places #bathroom) but for two people who only spent time in the room at night to sleep, it was perfect. The M Bar is a nice place to have breakfast in the morning or grab a drink at night. The coffee machine is superb! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very good hotel"
Good service. They gave me a smaller room and a breakfast voucher for an early check in. Also received a $22 voucher for overnight parking 2 blocks away. Very happy with their service. 5 min. walk from Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Will definitely come back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Times Square and Comfortable"
Just off 5th Ave, close to Bryant Park and an easy walk to Grand Central station. Room was quiet and comfortable. Would easily stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Only one problem."
There are no thermostats in the room. Therefore, the only way to control the temperature was to open and close the window. Just thankful that it was in spring. Otherwise, the hotel was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was our first time staying at The Mansfield Hotel and we would most certainly plan another stay there! Location was perfect - near 5th Ave., Times Square and Broadway. The staff was friendly and accomodating and upon checking it we were told they had updated us to a Jr. suite which was a great start to our overnight stay. The hotel is charming […] - I thought the room was a little dark, maybe some brighter furnishings and accents would brighten things up a bit but overall we were very pleased. Breakfast, although not included, was served in the bar area - the food was good and I thought the prices were reasonable for Manhattan. Would definitely recommend a stay at The Mansfield! "Smallest room ever!"
Overall the Mansfield was fine, though the rooms are just postage stamp size. I knew to expect a small room but it still surprised me. I must have missed the fact that it provides only double beds (I am tall so this was not pleasant), and the lack of a bathroom mirror was a first for me. It was clean and I loved the location, but it was a little too […] small for me - I won't go there again due to the bed and bathroom issues. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, small rooms"
Hotel is good located, close to Times Square a Broadway. Rooms are tiny, but what to expect from NYC. Windows not closing well, a bit chilly in winter. Forget the offered shoeshine service, either they had no polish or the person in charge has no idea how to shine shoes. Sent mine back 3 times, never improved... Reception staff is friendly and helpful. […] Stayed at many hotels in NYC, good place, would eventually stay again in case. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small Rooms and Expensive"
Its a fancy hotel, near Times Square. There is a nice bar and library-style meeting room downstairs (with free coffee, apples and lemon water). There is also a nice bar downstairs, but people are there mostly in the early evening. The hotel and rooms look luxurious and somewhat antique style, but our regular sized room was so small that my mom had to […] go and ask if they gave us the petite room by mistake. The view from our window was into another wall in an alley. We could not control the temperature in the room (they offered to send a worker to adjust the waterheated radiator). It had an iphone dock, but withouth the adapter for the lightening adapter (you'd think for this money they would...). Other than that it was nice, clean and definitely nice looking. "Not For Everyone"
Not what I expected, hotel is relatively pricey due to being a restored building (100+ years old). Atmosphere of bar and library is great. Nice place to see but not to stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
we had a great stay, the staff was wonderful. The rooms are a little small but well apointed. We were in walking distance of everything we wanted to see. Will definitly return and recommend to others!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Boutique Hotel in a great location"
If your prefer smaller, more personal & unique hotels the Mansfield is a great choice. The rooms are charming, it has a homely and New York feel to it at the same time. The location is perfect if you want to go shopping or explore Manhattan. I would stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to our office"
There was a clinging sound all night long on the pipes - it kept waking me up. Also, the room was very hot and there was no way to control it so I opened the window. However, the staff was great, the cookies were wonderful, the business center to run off my boarding passes was convenient, and the bellman was very nice and helpful. The room was fine, though a bit small. We especially appreciated the hard wood floors due to allergies. The heat was provided by a radiator so we had no control over the temperature. Despite snowing the day before, the room was quite warm. We ended up opening the window about an hour before bed and leaving it open over night. That's really the only […] negative thing I can say about the room. Otherwise it was clean and neat and just blocks from Times Square. For the price I don't thin we could have beat it. "Great location, but extremely small room"
Pros: 1) Staff members are very professional and courteous. 2) Also, coffee, tea and espresso drinks are available in the common area all the time. 3) The location is very convenient, too: a couple of blocks from Bryant Park and 5 minute walk to Grand Central. Cons: 1) The room was EXTREMELY small. In fact, it was the smallest hotel room in which I […] have ever stayed. It was a chore to go to the other side of the bed, and it was way too small for two of us. I understand rooms in boutique hotels are small, but the room was so small that we felt uncomfortable. 2) For the size, I think the price was to high, too. 3) Three of the workout machines were out of order. Overall, it is an OK hotel if you are staying by yourself, or don't mind the size of the room which literary prevents you from moving around. I planned to have a nice stay at a nice boutique hotel for my birthday, but I have to say it was disappointing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Love the small intimacy of the hotel. Robert, the concriege, was helpful with excellent restaurant choices and table reservations. we were there in February and it was very cold. the heat was very hard to control with just a radiator the first night was so hot we had the window almost all the way open with temps outside at around 20 degrees. "Lovely, smaller hotel"
This hotel is close to Times Square but on a quiet street. I loved the personal touches like the cookies at check in and the library room with free coffee and tea. I did use the bar and that was nice. I had a small room but perfect for a one night, 12 hour respite.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel - GREAT Staff."
I've stayed in a lot of NYC Midtown hotel in the past decade, I mean dozens. This one is as good as they come in the $200 per night range - and much much better than most. It's nicely appointed and up to date, but best of all - they have the quality of hotel staff that ALL goo dNYC hotels should strive to have. Stay here. You won't regret it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"There's a Small Hotel..."
First, the Mansfield is in an enviable location, right off 5th Avenue on 44th Street. A good friend who has lived in New York City for 60 years had never heard of it. I only discovered where I'd be staying after booking one of those 40% off offerings from Expedia. The hotel was built early in the century -- the 20th century, and has obviously been re-habbed […] to more modern standards. But, the room I was given was disappointingly small. I had to slip sideways between the bed and the desk to get from one side of the room to the other. I was glad I was traveling alone; if my wife had been with me, only one of us would have a chair. That made the double bed an unnecessary hog of the limited space. Other than the cramped quarters, everything else was satisfactory. The staff were cheerful and attentive. There was a plate of cookies at the desk. And there's a "library" with a good coffee machine. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient to Grand Central Station and Midtown"
Loved the convenient location. Staff was helpful. Price was good for NYC. Others have commented on the small size of rooms, but pretty typical for Manhattan. Old-world NYC decor and charm. It had everything one would need for a brief stay, and I would return if price stays reasonable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location. Rooms were small. Wish there was a hor tub/pool. Being downtown we heard onw siren in the two nights there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming old hotel and great location"
I read many reviews of this hotel and I agree with some of the complaints I saw. The room was too warm, but, because I was in a suite, I was able to open a window or two and this made the room quite comfortable (this was in the middle of February). The room was small for a suite, but adequate (though I certainly wouldn't want to stay in a regular size […] room at this hotel). I also found the mattress too firm for my taste and had rather sore hips by the second night. Some of the other complaints, however, I do not agree with. I found the staff very polite and helpful. I was worried about the frequent complaint that the hotel overbooks, especially because I happened to be there over Valentine's day weekend, but my room was ready and available even though we arrived after 8:00 PM. I also found that the vintage aspect of the architecture (including the small elevators) only added to the charm of hotel rather than detract from it. If you prefer modern chrome and glass, this is not the hotel for you, but if you appreciate vintage and charm (and can roll with the quirks that come with it) then you will likely enjoy a stay here. "Great for a short stay."
Room is pretty bare bones, which is fine if you aren't going to be there for long. No heat control in rooms so it got pretty cold at night. Coffee machine in the lobby is great, and a nice bar. Staff was friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Winter :Bring A Parka if you have a window room!"
Great location, walking distance to Grand Central, theaters, Time Square ect... a lovely old hotel with updated and stylish rooms. Staff was courteous & very helpful.Only hiccup on our weekend trip to the city in the cold, was the discomfort of a very drafty and frigid room. We had a front window room that had a very bad draft coming in from the bay […] window. This could be expected in an older building in winter in NYC, I suppose, but the small venting window in the alcove in the bathroom kept blowing open ...it was freezing!! and there was actually frost on our sill and drinking glass at the sink! We did ask desk to turn up the heat, and it was not a solution. A bottle of wine, and a coat on top our covers, and we survived! Hey we're New Englander's, we know how to do cold! Despite this, We would stay again, BUT for sure, would secure an interior room! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice for a short stay"
Like all hotel rooms in NYC, it's a little small. However it is really nice. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The only drawbacks were: 1. That you couldn't really move from one side of the bed to the other, without rolling over the bed itself or squeezing between the bed and the desk. 2. The bed was super firm and made me very sore […] (but this is more of a preference thing and shouldn't effect your judgement). One really great thing about this hotel is the location, (between Times Square and the Empire State Building). You couldn't really ask for anything more as a visitor on a short vacation in the city. I would definitely return to The Mansfield Hotel. The check in and out was easy. The room was a decent size and clean , the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was quite small but adequate. Great location, convenient to Times Square and Fifth Avenue, great little diner down the street for breakfast or lunch. "Great couple hotel...starting or rekindling"
I thought the hotel was beautiful. It definitely instilled old school charm. So while I expected my room to be small, I didn't expect it to be quiet that small! However, we had a fabulous time! Our major, yet small complaints were...no bathrobes...that is a big no-no for me...they should be in every room. The a/c and heat seemed to be fighting for time...although […] I read that in a review and was prepared for warmth, I was not ready for 32 degrees outside and needing to run the a/c at 64 all night!! The breakfast was a little slow, but we were on vacation....so no harm done. All in all, we'd go back. We had fun and the hotel was delightful. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Comfortable and convenient. Rooms are adequate - not too small for Manhattan. Renovation is nice. Location is excellent. But overall this is very pricey.
