Courtyard Washington, DC/Dupont Circle by Marriott - Washington

I was attending a large weekend meeting at another hotel but chose to stay at the Courtyard. Being new to DC and alone, I was concerned about transportation, walking, etc. The front desk people were more that helpful, reassuring me that I would be very safe and gave me a map showing me where needed to go, how to get there, and other sights that I should […] see within walking distance. Every employee was very polite and friendly. Rooms were very comfortable (the hallways were a little noisy) and clean. WiFi worked very well. When it came time to leave, they had a cab ready to take me to the airport within 5 minutes. I would definitely stay there again! Read more

There is nothing fancy about this hotel, but if you can get a good deal, it's worth staying here. Internet is free, rooms are small but functional, and there is a happy hour some nights (we didn't end up staying on those nights so I can't comment). I was a bit miffed that we'd reserved a king room and got a queen because of unexpected construction, […] but it was certainly sufficient. There are tons of great restaurants in the neighborhood, and it's a 10-minute walk to the Dupont Circle metro in one direction and the Woodley Park metro in the other. Be warned the walk to the hotel from the Dupont Circle metro is uphill if you're planning to do it with a lot of luggage. Read more

The coffee shop on the first floor the 2 ladies behind the counter are terrible. They get to the custumers when they are dare good and ready. To get a cup of coffee you had to stand there 20 minutes while they did some paper work. Friends of ours stayed last year there and when we met them in DC they asked us if the 2 Indian ladies were just as bad […] as they treated them. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, but small. One concern was that we were given a wheelchair accessible room even though this was not a stated request. As such, the bathroom counter space was limited and there was only one sink. More concerning was that this preferential room was wasted on guests not needing the accommodation.

We got a great price for staying in Dupont Circle. This was a getaway for my boyfriend and I and we chose this hotel because it was located near our favorite place, Black Fox Lounge. Hotel is near several bars and restaurants but a block up so you aren't disturbed with loud voices, actually we couldn't hear a thing from inside the room. I had forgotten my toothbrush and when I tried to buy one the man offered one of their complimentary toothbrushes to me, he could have just let me buy one but he didn't. The valet guys, the maid, and front desk are all very friendly. The room was a bit small but we were only using it for sleep so it didn't bother us. The only reason I didn't give this hotel a perfect five is because the room didn't have enough outlets and it made getting ready a little difficult but not terrible. The hotel is in a great location except it is a bit far from the metro, maybe 6 blocks or so? But the area is safe so it makes up for it. Read more

When we checked, the gentleman at the front desk offered to upgrade us to an Executive King room, and said that it included free breakfast the next morning. When we got to our room, the key cards wouldn't work, so I went back down to inform him so he went back up with me with a new set of keycards. The next day, we went down to the lobby and informed […] the lady behind the counter that we were offered a free breakfast. She checked her list and then said she had to talk to the front desk so we waited about ten minutes from someone in the front desk to speak to us. This gentleman confirmed what we already explained to the lady and said he needed to check with the manager, who also at the front desk helping another customer. Apparently, he had to check with some one else because he was on the phone, After standing around like a fool begging for free food for about another ten minutes, I told them to just forget about it. The general manager was there and he didn't even offer an explanation. I don't mind paying for my food, so that's not what upsets me. What was annoying was that if one of their employees, made the mistake of offering the free breakfast when he shouldn't have, just give the free breakfast instead of embarrassing your guests this way. I mean, how much will one meal cost a company this big? Definitely a LOT less than losing customers, I can tell you that. Read more

We were in DC for a short 2-night trip to see the Redskins kick some Cowboy tail, which they did!!! The hotel was located in a very nice area near Dupont Circle, where the dining is MUCH better. In fact there was a cafe in the back of Kramer books, which we thoroughly enjoyed and would visit again. As far as the hotel is concerned, the main disappointment […] was that there was NOT free parking as stated on the expedia site. We had to pay $29.95/night for parking, and not paying it wasn't an option as we had driven to DC from NC. The staff was very pleasant and helpful with figuring out how to get around using the Metro and making good suggestions for dining and sightseeing. The room was clean. I am a Marriott Silver Rewards member, so I typically stay at Marriott hotels when I go out of town. The courtyard in Dupont circle has a friendly staff and it is convenient to all that Dupont Circle has to offer. Getting down the hill in the snow was pretty treacherous on foot, but that is to be expected when there is snow and freezing rain. I did […] not like that I put in a room that was next to a large family and they were in and out of the room slamming the door at all hours of night. I believe the maid service could a much better job of cleaning the rooms. I found hair in the tub and there was a very long hair that hung off of the blow dryer in the bathroom for my entire five day stay. I lifted up the toilet seat after one of the "cleanings" and saw that she had not cleaned under the toilet seat at all.I expect waaay more out of Marriott. Read more

I don't believe I ever stayed in a hotel where the bathroom door faced the room window. This was particularly unpleasant as the next building was less than 30 feet away. I know this was not unique to the room I ultimately stayed in since my room was not ready upon my arrival (after 3pm) and the alternative was similarly configured. When my King room […] was not ready, I was offered a room with two beds which I did not want. The staff was unprepared for this and kept citing a large group had checked in (not my problem). I initialy accepted a Queen room, but elected to wait for the King to be serviced. They did comp my breakfast for the next day, however, the extra wait was annoying. The "restaurant" was also disappointing. I would have expected more from a Courtyard. Read more

Mundane hotel offering unexceptional accomodation in a reasonable area of Washington. We got good value and were not disappointed nor surprised by the stay. I cannot offer any insight that may enhance your experience. The staff all seemed like perfectly reasonable people who responded to a smile and a word of acknowledgement.
