The staff was very friendly and caring. Was flying stand-by and was bumped. Flight was at 8am. Next flight was at 3pm. So i returned to the hotel and asked if I could still use their facilities... they went above and beyond. Not only did they say go enjoy a hot breakfast, but before you leave we can get you a room so you can freshen up!! wow, now that's service!! This is the place to stay.

We spent 4 nights at the Sonesta, after originally booking 3 nights only. We were able to arrive 1 night early and the Sonesta staff was awesome in their willingness to accommodate our early arrival. Right on the beach, having only to walk past the pool and restaurant areas to arrive on the sand. Highly recommended for any group. Families with kids, no kids, there is something for everyone. Food selection was good, Pizza oven was excellent. Good choices for lunch and dinner, the breakfast buffet was great. Our family is ready to go back already and we've only been home for a week!

THE SONESTA MAHO IF OVER RATED .THIS HOTEL ADVERTISE THEY HAVE FIVE RESTRAINT. THAT IS A LIE THE HAVE 2 WORKING RESTRAINT AND THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE .THE BAR WAS ALSO HORRIBLE WHEY RUN OUT OF ALCOHOL ONE NIGHT AND THE OTHER NIGHT THE RUN OUT OF PINA COLDA MIX. The stay was great. The hotel was close to the airport and also close to the Maho shopping area. The food in the hotel was disappointing since most of it was the same throughout. The beach was not what i expected. For my wife who can't swim the water was extremely rough and there was a sudden drop to enter the water.

Room was not available when we checked in after 5pm. Front desk employees were not very friendly or helpful. Hotel was old and needed updated. Tiles were stained and broken in hallway and in our room. Carpeting in main lobby bar was very dirty and stained. Food was good for buffet style. Bars were fairly good. Not much in way of variety. Pool lining was bubbling up all over pool.

My family and I stayed at the Sonesta Maho Beach on 5/22/14-5/27/14, the resort facilities are pleasing and nice. The hotel staff is not friendly at all. In fact they are rude. Our lien on our bed was not changed. There was a stain on the lien and housekeeping just turned the lien over on the other side. We asked for additional towels and we were asked why do we need additional towels. We were not given wash cloths. The food at the main dinning area was not very good. The entertainment was less than desirable. I have traveled to several All Inclusive Resorts and this was the worse experience I have had to endure.

This hotel is a great place to stay if you plan on not exploring the island to much. The food is good but not a huge variety. The drinks are fantastic and the bar staff espically Sheryl at the pool bar are amazing( get a bbc there fantastic). My only complaint is that for an all inclusive parking should be free as well as better free wifi. The wifi is very expensive and losses signal in the rooms we were on the sixth floor and it only worked in place in the room and it was 58.8kbs at best so for 17$ a day it's very pricey. Other than that it's a great place and I highly reccomend this hotel to anyone. We will definatly be coming back in the future.

I walked in and was greeted by the friendliest people. The champagne offering didn't hurt the experience, either. It was beautiful space, with a tropical show of exotic birds, flowers and plants at every view. The ocean is turqouis blue, crystal clear and free of stones and rocks. The view is heavenly on all sides. The room was very clean, and smelled lovely. If nothing else brings me back, the food was to die for! Every meal! Every day! I would absolutely recommend.

Best vacation ever! Loved how close the beach was, loved the view from our room and most of the people were amazing! It is easy to get around without a rental car, the buses will take you all over for $2.00 per person. The water is amazing, so clear and beautiful and so enjoyable to swim in. The placement of this resort could not be any better. It is located in Maho Beach where the incoming aircraft land. We went in March this year and the weather could not have been nicer. Had 1 day of rain but sunny and beautiful the rest of the time. We have already put our deposit down to go back next year!

Renovations are underway on a large portion of the facility. Noise is intrusive at times. The airport is directly next door. This is the airport you see on all those videos where people line up with landing aircraft and aircraft leaving. You see people sand blasted and blown into the water. What a HOOT!! The only place in the world where a 747 lands 20 feet over your head.

The resort was nice. Very close to airport ($4 cab fare) and therefore great view of planes taking off and landing from a couple of the restaurants. Good variety of food and the fish was cooked very well. Not too much beach area but extra large pool keeps you cool.

i would not stay at this hotel again. it is fit for students going on spring break. CONS: 1. shocked by the unfriendly service. staff was miserable - no one wanted to work. they were on cell phones and fighting with each other in front of guests. 2. food was horrible -- no rhyme or reason for anything. we actually skipped breakfast every day - it was that unpleasant. i lived on salad, pickles, and potato salad for a week. i was expecting theme nights at the restaurants. ex: mexican night, italian night - this did not happen. there was just random food every night. 3. were were pleased with the room (ours was updated -- our friends' was not) until we found a BUG crawling on my boyfriend's chest! 4. bartenders were downright rude at times when we were ordering drinks. they would also run out of certain things constantly. 5. the casino was the most disgusting rundown thing i have ever seen -- dirty carpets and the only thing i could smell was the smoke! PROS: 1. internet in the lobby 2. close to airport 3. close to some nightlife 4. a/c worked well in the room -- fyi: we upgraded our room and we are not really sure what the upgrade was. 5. the only pleasant staff members were in the spa. 6. safes in the room best of luck -- will not return to this hotel and we definitely do not recommend.

I chose the hotel for its convenience and price and was very satisfied. Customer service has improved greatly, facilities, food and activities were excellent. Ignore all the naysayers who think they should get a Ritz Carlton experience for Holiday Inn prices. I've been to both and I can tell you that this property offers great pricing and is an excellent value. And it is only a five minute ride (only $9) to the airport. What more could you ask for?

The plane lands virtually on top of the beach making it a picturesque spot for thrill-seekers. The hotel is in a perfect spot only a mile from the airport. The view from the balconies are breathless (beach or town). The casino and featured stores are worth visiting night after night.

We were somewhat reluctant to book an "all inclusive" package for fear that the quality might be lacking. Surprisingly, we were absolutely delighted. We ate at only one of the restaurants- the buffet style- due to us having our 7-year old Kids with us and wanting to insure enough variety so that they could find something that they wanted. The variety of the buffet made it impossible to try to diet. Great choices and great quality...and the Kids loved that the staff were eager to make them something that they wanted if they couldn't find something. The room was very comfortable, although we didn't spend much time there. The hotel facilities were also just great. We always assume that the pictures we see on the internet look far better than the actual condition, but in this case, the Sonesta Maho Beach resort was exactly as in the photos. Overall, we had a great time and the kids are eager to go back. The ONLY drawback if there is one is that the beach is a bit small and on an incline so that it's tough to place a beach chair on level ground, but that is the ONLY thing we could find to be critical about.

I do need to say the rooms need to be updated, the hallway on the 2nd floor smelled horrible. The location was GREAT & never got tired of watching the planes fly overhead. I had a great experience with the staff. Joe (pastry chef) made my husband his own sugar-free dessert the whole week..THANKS JOE & SHARON the supervisor in the buffet went above & beyond to help me with anything I needed.

I have nothing but good things to say about the location, food, cleanliness of this resort. However, I needed to add another person to the room, and upgraded through the hotel. I was promised a suite, only to be told when I arrived that it wasn't available. It was very disappointing to pay that much for an upgrade, and then have your group separated into two rooms. They were very nice rooms, but one person had to sleep on a pull out bed. They couldn't understand why we weren't happy. We had 5 people in our group, and they only had one suite that would accommodate us, and now it was "unavailable". It was like a Seinfeld episode trying to get through to them, but in the end, after a lot of waiting, and trying to explain our situation, they compensated us 20% of the upgrade. My only warning about this resort is they know how to take your reservation..... they just don't know how to HOLD your reservation!

Overall had a decent experience but was a little disappointed with the hotel and staff. Room was nice but never had clean towels when needed, always had to wait for laundry to get done which was very late in the day. Food was decent but usually the same options everyday. Staff wasn't very friendly with the exception of a few. Beach and ocean made up for a lot of the issues we had because it was so beautiful. Also - it gets very loud at night (not the resort but the street outside) and goes until about 2am, didn't get much sleep the entire time we were there.

food is nonpalatible...I would not feed it to my pigs let alone my dog. Our air conditioner was broken and the staff was not particularly concerned. The facility is clean but rooms are outdated. Staff at the restaurants is surprisingly non chalant and does not particularly csre. I have been coming to St.maarten for 15 years and find locals to be usually friendly but the service was subpar

Was given a poolside room with no charge. Excellent staff (Especially Cheryl). Was given a late check out time to catch our late outbound flight. Was really pleased with our house keeper who always knew what to do to make us enjoy our stay. I do however think that there is no place for children at the pool side bar. Should encourage families to use the other end of the pool by the water fall. Seemed to me that the kids got in the way of the daily activities pool side from the booze prizes to the adult volleyball. This was my second stay and enjoyed it a lot.

This hotel is in a perfect location and minutes from the airport. My sister and I went for some fun and thats exactly what it was. The food and alcohol was exactly what you can expect. Not the best but definitely edible and well worth the money. The rooms are a littlw outdated but they are def comfortable and your not in the room much so who cares. No complaints at all. You will need to take taxis to see other parts of the island and different beaches but spending the money on taxis is well worth it. I totally recommend taking a day trip to Aguilla and swimming with the dolphins. Best experience of my life.

We have stayed at the Sonesta Maho 3 previous times, when it was not an all-inclusive. The best thing it has going for it is the location; close to the beach to watch the planes come in. We utilize this hotel to extend our trip to 2 nights. We arrived to check in at 6:30 pm. There were 4 of us,all adults. I specified in the comments when I booked the room that we needed a room with 2 double beds. They tried to put us in a room with 1 king bed and bring in 2 roll away beds. The room smelled like mold. After a lot of complaining they found a room that needed to be cleaned and said we could have that room. They suggested we go to dinner;it was now 8:30. They said the room would be ready when we came back, it was not. We did not get into our room until after 10. The dinner that evening(Saturday) was a buffet, the food was cold and not replenished, horrible service.The next day for lunch I tried to order a salad without onions and was told that it is all premade, no special requests. We ate at The Point, it says no reservations but that is incorrect. We waited 45 minutes for a table; to find out several items on the menu they were out of. The food that we did have was good, the only meal during our stay that I can say that. I found a live roach in the bathroom the morning we were leaving. I could not wait to check out of there! Also, regarding the check in issue, we were not the only people that had a problem; there were several others in the same boat.

we just got back from Sonesta, and we loved it. The only problem we had was checking in. The man at the desk was pleasant but he was having to answer the phone too and it wasn't working out. The food was ok. At the Point restaurant, was not worth it. Had no kids menu and they would not eat. We left just as soon as we could and went back to another eating place

The hotel is very close to the airport (5 minutes) and very close to an exciting beach if you like to watch planes land and take off. That is an amazing experience. You can sit on the hotel's beach access and watch the planes or take a short stroll down by the beach and feel the wind of the jet engines.

There seemed to be a lot of complaints at the front desk. There is a garbage issue with smell throughout the pool. If your room is on the trash side the balcony will smell. The food was fine and no stomach issues.

Good resort central location would rate it 31/2 stars. Good service. Food is ok. Great restaurants and shopping just across the street.

Beaches pool and staff all very good. Very bad odor ( garbage, sewer?) permeating at times throughout hotel grounds. We were unable to sit on the deck outside our room at any point during our stay because of the smell.

After check in I was assigned room 960 opened the balcony door and could not believe the odor. The garbage is taken care of on the back side of this hotel and the smell is unreal. That made it impossible for us to use the balcony. We were told to check in the ext morning to change our room told to return at 2 then at 3 finally I was then offered a 3rd floor ocean front room with 2 beds. That would have been bad enough, but the elevators were broken and having hurt my knee it was impossible for me to make the climb up and down. I was then offered a room overlooking the roof which the hotel believes to be an upgrade from the smelly one LOL I think I was just being run around and figured it was time to quit the search for a new room. I just never opened my balcony for the rest of the trip. Not happy about this but what could I do spend hours on the two other choices only to wind up right back where I started. This is my third visit to sonesta in st maarten, first and last in Maho Stay in Great Bay!!!!!t we were 3 couples and no one got a pool view so I cannot comment on these.

We had an amazing vacation at the Sonesta Maho. If you are looking for a great all-inclusive hotel, this is an excellent choice. We have done several and this was by far the best. If you are drinker, you won't find a better deal. Our refrigerator was restocked daily, the staff was great, food was good and parts of it excellent. Although we didn't participate there were plenty of daily and nightly events to keep you entertained. We didn't need them because we were typically at the casino across the street which was wonderful as well and also includes free drinks. My husband loved watching the planes on the beach and even stayed on the beach with me to see them. I thought it was really neat as well. We really didn't need to ever leave the hotel area for anything but we did a couple of the excursions to see some other areas and those were great as well. The hotel was constantly improving the property while we there as well by painting, sealing sidewalks, remodeling rooms, and even put up a new playground for the keys. The Sonesta will be an annual trip for us from now on. Great value for the money without question.

The resort was nice. The rooms were just ordinary, but we found the staff wonderful, especially at the buffet restaurants. They all seemed very pleasant and when I made a request for some cheddar cheese one evening the waitress went out of her way to get me a plate of cheese. If you like pizza, we found the resort's to be exceptional and you can even make a request for what you want them to put on the pizza. However, pizza is not made on Sunday. Superbowl Sunday the resort had a 10:00 pm chocolate buffet in the lobby which was fun. The beach is small and in order to get an umbrella and chairs on the beach you will need to get out to the beach by 8:30 am and stand there until a staff member can unchain the chairs for you and give you an umbrella and chairs, which was no problem for us as we were up anyways. We found it was much nicer on the beach then on the upper area with the lounge chairs, but we like to be by the water. The water was great, but it drops off rather quickly once you go in. We loved the big waves. The balconies of the rooms do not have any walls so if you are out on your balcony and your neighbors are too, there is no privacy. I didn't think I would like that, but everyone was very friendly when we were on the balcony.

We enjoyed our trip, and our room (overlooking the quieter pool) was nice with great views of the sea. We got used to the planes.

Recently took a little break from the terrible weather in the northeast and it was a pleasure to fine a place where we could all enjoy ourselves in the comfort of great facility in St. Martin. We each had our own delights, beach, water, food, loved watching the planes to add a bit of excitement to the mix. Staff was very good, and friendly. Trip on catamaran was delightful and pick up was in our hotel lobby.

The food was mediocre at best. Most of the entre's were tasteless and the pork loin I had at the specialty restaurant, "The Point" was tough and was not seasoned. We stayed in the Ocean Terrace which is in serious need of renovation.The staff seemed pleasant on some days and hardly spoke to you on others. Overall, we were disappointed and we would not go back to the Sonesta Maho Beach.

I stayed here only because we needed to be close to the airport for our departing flight the next day. In my opinion after staying in St Martin half a dozen times there are nicer locations where you can stay if you are here for a week. First, the check in process was awful. There was a long wait even though the line was not that long. When it was finally my turn, my reservation was cancelled as a no show! Mind you I showed up at 3pm according to the hotel's check in time. Thankfully the guy at the front desk knew what he was doing and we got a room, after another 15-20 minutes and several phone calls to the hotel manager. As for the room, I'd call the decor "Florida efficiency" style. It is nothing special and the bathroom is in desparate need of updating. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean though. The food tasted like cafeteria food (pre-packaged, frozen, and pre-made). We had lunch and were so disgusted by it that we ate dinner elsewhere and paid for it. The all inclusive option works for alcoholic drinks, but as for food, this is an Island with many more options. The layout of the pool area is nice, but since the resort is so close to the airport you hear the planes all day and can even feel the vibrations. Do yourself a favor and visit other beaches. There are so many beautiful ones to choose from. Maho Beach is tiny and does not represent SM beaches! I would actually stay here again just for convenience of location.
