Not much. It's time to update the place. All the fixtures and fittings are old fashioned and dated. When you walk in there is no sign for the registration desk. There should at least be a sign. The first thing guests are looking for is the front desk so they can check in. Then they actually charge their guests to park at the hotel! It's not enough that […] we are paying the exhorbitant prices to stay there but we have to pay to park our car there too! The positives are: the shower was powerful and hot so that was a plus and the shower curtain looked brand new. The beds were comfortable, and there was coffee and tea in the room. The negatives were: the sliding door to the patio was hard to open and close and difficult to lock, the hairdryer was virtually useless, there was no fridge and no safe in the room. The overall charge was inflated and not worth what we got. If you want to charge those high prices you better deliver the goods. The place was not up to Marriott standards. Definitely will not be going back to this one. Very disappointed. Read more

Later that night I met some friends downstairs at the bar and the mitchen had already closed so when I went to the front desk Amanda was very helpful. Our room was okay. The bathroom light did not work correctly- it was like a strobe. Additionally, the smoke detector started to "chirp" in the morning while we were getting ready to go to breakfast. The front desk staff was made aware and all they did was offer to comp our parking fee ($13). This was also annoying - $13 just to park in their lot. The walls are so thin we could easily hear the conversations of guests on either side of us. There was no furniture on our balcony which rendered it unusable. We returned to an uncleaned room after an absence from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. In our experience it is rare that wi-fi is an extra charge... We stayed 5 days over Christmas. Hotel was beautifully decorated. We asked for & were given a MWave & Fridge w/o extra charge. Location next to the Park & Beach is particularly nice. All round excellent service.

The only complaint that I had was that the valet parking attendants were not at their post when I wanted my car or when I returned with my car. Our room heater didn't work. The coffee machine plug was jammed into an 18 inch length. Staff members were very helpful once we arrived, but those who answered the phones were not. The rooms were clean. The beds were very comfortable. The Bath and Body Work products were a nice touch.

It was a wonderful leisurely stay, the girls enjoyed swimming, working out at the gym and dinner at the hotel. With the exception of the fire alarm going off at 4:18am as a false alarm it was great.

Very clean with friendly staff. Across the street from the State Beach with walking paths along the ocean. It is a little distance from downtown Ventura but worth it to be so near the beach. We have stayed at other locations in Ventura because we visit often, we now just stay here because it is a reasonable price for excellent accommodations.

Hotel was generally what you would expect from a Marriott, however, the location wasn't great. We did have to make an effort to eat out and there wasn't much within an easy walk. We booked as a family of five and the bedding couldn't accommodate us so we had to get a roll-away. It was our first time at the hotel and we found it to be conveniently located (next to the beach, few blocks from downtown Ventura) and had a very pleasant 2 night stay at the hotel. Valet parking is very convenient. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. The suite worked out great for our family of 3, there was plenty of room […] to move around. The refrigerator and microwave in the sitting room were very helpful as we had a toddler. We paid for 2 rooms and it is not worth the money to stay there. Could've found a cheaper hotel that was much nicer. Although the hotel room looked nice and clean our feet were black from the floor. We ate dinner and breakfast there and both times the food tasted old. We also had to pay for parking. Next time, we will stay somewhere else.

We were very happy with our overnight stay. Everyone from valet to breakfast at the resturant the next before we checked out Sunday was outstanding!!! I booked room and failed to ask if it would am ocean vies room and it wasn't. I did ask if was oceanfront and they said yes. It was fine ocean view would have bedm perfect since we live I'm Bakersfield […] and surrounded by nothing but land. I didn't ask at service check in there were actually any ocean view rooms in the site. It was still a wonderful experience and will stay there again on next visit! Thanks for a great stay . We had a fabuous stay at the Marriott Ventura Beach. The lobby & meeting room decor are lovely, and the restaurant had a wide variety of meals available. Pool area was nice too, glad to see the pool open until 11pm, many hotels close them down so early.This is the only place to stay in Ventura!

I was very impressed!!! It was a very nice hotel. When ANY employee saw you they would greet you or tell you hello. The room was clean and spacious. Room service was fast and delicious. The grounds were kept up and well manicured. The only thing I didn't like is that you had to pay for parking :(
