3 minutes from the subway station, 5 from Gamla Stan, the hotel location is unbeatable. The cabin is very, very small, so is the single bed with a rather soft mattress. No view from the tiny porthole. All the essentials are there, all is very clean and breakfast is super nice. If you are looking for space this is not the place for you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful place to stay!!!"
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was everything and more of what I hoped for. the location was perfect to walk everywhere. I felt safe in the neighborhood. The restaurant had wonderful food. The breakfast was great and my room was very small but filled my needs. I would certainly stay here again on a future visit. "Different but Fun"
Staying at the Mälardrottningen was a fun ( I haven't slept in a top bunk for about 50 years) expericence! Even thought the room was tiny we had a wonderful time . Loved the location and the outdoor cafe just outside the front entrance, overlooking an incredible view. We would definitely stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Mälardrottningen Hotel, Stockholm"
Fabulous ship to stay on, great location, small rooms as you would expect for a ship, clean, comfortable. I had left my Passport at the previous hotel some 200klm away and the staff here were VERY helpfull in making phone calls etc..etc.. and I had my Passport back in just under 5 hours......well done to all involved.Genuine Expedia guest review
My smoke detector triggered from the heat of my shower. It was OK, but I found it weird that no worker on the boat asked me if I were OK.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fun place to stay"
We enjoyed staying on the boat. Breakfast was good. Excellent location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic Location, Excellent Value"
Mälardrottningen is in a fantastic location - totally walkable from the central terminal for train, T-bana, and bus - and close to everything else that you'd want to see or do in Stockholm. I couldn't get over the awesome location. My room was excellent - clean, comfortable, newly remodeled bathroom that was gleaming clean. At times, the fan in the […] bathroom did permeate weird smells but I could open my cabin window so that worked out. The staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent. I didn't eat there for dinner but the guidebook said they have a good restaurant. Overall - clean, comfortable, and can't beat the location & amenities for the price :D I'd definitely stay there again/recommend it! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location to Gamla Stan.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A unique experience"
It's definitely worth the experience if you like a bit of an adventure. The scenery on the "port" side of the boat is fantastic and the location a short walk from Gamla Stan and Slussen is very convenient for strolling. Breakfast was a very good quality wide selection of Swedish fare. The only downside is the size of the rooms. It's a boat so rooms […] are obviously very small. It was a little uncomfortable. However, it was very clean and well maintained. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was great to stay on a boat in Stockholm where there is water on all sides. The location of the boat on the edge of the popular Gamla Stan area was excellent. The staff were efficient, cheerful and helpful. Very comfortable room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice little hotel near the old town with an original setting on the lake. As expected the room was small but tidy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A fantastic novelty hotel with a friendly staff and brilliant history. The restaurant upstairs was beautifully decorated with a brilliant menu and 20% discount. Good location, walking distance from a variety of sights and always easy to find. Stunning views from the port hole windows and the top deck. Would be beautiful in the summer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"boat & breakfast - excellent"
The staff were not particularly friendly, but reasonably helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A special Hotel with a perfect location close to the Metro Station. Nice and quiet area!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Novel, cosy and convenient"
The location is great - you can walk to the Old Town or to the other parts of the city and Gamla Stan metro station is only a short walk away. The hotel is tucked away so no disturbing noise from bars or traffic. The room was quite spacious and clean and breakfast included was a bonus - there is plenty of choice and it saves you some money (Sweden is […] not cheap). It gets a bit choppy if the wind picks up so not great for people suffering from sea sickness but then you would not stay on a yacht in the first place ;) I loved it and I would definitely stay again. "A very cute hotel and so close to Gamla Stan"
It was a very nice and very clean hotel. I stayed in the lower cabin near the water line, I loved it but you would not want to be nervous of water. Its in an excellent location close to the old town (Gamla Stan) and within an easy walking distance of the Central station. I would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in heart of Stockholm"
We had a great 4 nights here. Location is excellent, hotel is quirky and staff were really helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
Lovely od ship moored at Old Town. Ideal for restaurants bars etc. Small but comfertable cabins and super en-suite facilities. Great price and value for money for Stockholm.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very good location"
Very convenient for the old city with nice view. Excellent breakfast and restaurant. The rooms rather basic and very small still clean and warm.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quiet, central location"
Close to Gamla Stan, but peaceful location as no passing traffic. Helpful staff. Will definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quirky hotel in Stockholm's old town"
The Mälardrottningen hotel is a converted ship so it has character by the barrow load! It was owned at one time by Barbara Hutton, the Woolworth millionaire, and is now moored at a small island on the west side of Gamla Stan in Stockholm old town. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful and their English was top rate. My room was small (it was […] a converted cabin) but comfortable. Many of the ships original features have been retained, and it was good to stay somewhere so unlike many other standard hotels. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"close to all must-see sights"
It was a very pleasant stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was clean, functional, and cozy. Just as advertised. It's small because you're on a boat. Knowing that ahead of my stay, the room was exactly as I had envisioned. The wifi was fast (and free). There isn't much right nearby, but Old Town and the subway stop are a 5 min. walk. Perfect for my needs! Staff was friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I had a good stay. I enjoyed the ambience of the boat and the location was excellent. Breakfast was good too. The only slight problem was that the wifi connection wasn't good in my cabin so I used my ipad in the common areas instead. I would happily stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My review is based on the fact I used to be at sea and enjoy staying (as a business traveller) in 'quirky' hotels, particularly ship-based. Staff were attentive and helpful, my cabin (2nd Officers) was small but what I expected and liked - however, it would have been too small for myself and my wife (two couldn't pass between the lower bunk and the […] wardrobe) and I wondered how the mainly elderly couples and tourists managed? Stayed here for 3 nights last week and will def stay here again. It's stationed on the island of Riddarholmen right in the middle of the old town. The breakfast was great and the staff friendly. It's best for couples or single travelers as it is a ship and you and staying in a cabin but it's clean and warm. It's about 10mins walk from Central Station, […] come out of the Vasagatan entrance, turn right and walk to the flyover and take the side walk on the right of it and you can see it from there. "Ideal base for sightseeing in Stockholm"
For seeing Stockholm this floating hotel is an ideal place to stay. It is located right next to the Old Town (Gamla Stan) where there are many old buildings and other tourist sights, as well as excellent resturants. The subway is only 5 minutes walk and the shopping centre of Stockholm 15 minutes. The hotel has its own very good restaurant, where residents […] get a 20% discount. The room rates are very reasonable by STockholm standards, and the only drawback is that the cabins are small, so don't go there if you want to spend a lot of time in the hotel in a luxury suite. We shall definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room I stayed in was small and the porthole faced the walkway so I couldn't see anything. But the bed was comfortable and I was either exploring the town or in bed. The porthole wasn't visible from the bed anyway.Genuine Expedia guest review
The ship was nicely restored and very comfortable - very fun to have a sauna on board too! We really enjoyed our one night stay and would certainly return. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A convenient and quiet location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unique hotel in historic neighbourhood"
The hotel was acutally on a boat, which made this a unique experience. It was very close to Gamla Dam, the historic part of town where the royal castle and many more interesting venues are located. Everything was walkable. The rooms were small, but large enough not to be claustrophobic. Breakfast buffet was good, and the staff very friendly. The only […] problem I had with the room is that there was no climate control and it got to be very hot in there, so we had to get a fan to cool off. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to old town and refreshingly different"
The hotel is a floating one, comprising the yacht of an American heiress from the first half of the twentieth century. It is anchored in a beautiful and historic part of old Stockholm, affording wonderful views of the harbor. It is an easy 15 minute walk from Stockholm Central train station, and a similar walk from the Royal Palace in the heart of the […] old quarter. The cabins are not large even by European standards, and a double room is actually two bunks, but all in all it makes for a different, refreshing experience. The hotel has many common areas for the use of guests, both on the deck and below, and the breakfast area was bright and airy and pleasant. It doubles during the day as a restaurant. The breakfast buffet was extensive and generous and included both hot and cold items. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The only thing that the hotel could use is some attention to the outside - the paint on the boat itself is peeling. There is a major city of Stockholm construction project underway on one side of the hotel, but it was not visible from our cabin or from any part of the hotel that we frequented. Very nice, historic boat, small rooms but good price with bathroom included, very short walk to Gamla Stan tunnelbanna (subway station) on historic island very near old town. Nice view from upper deck but a bit worn up there and bar didn't open to my disappointment. Great breakfast including hot protein (egg/bacon/sausage) and more traditional Swedish […] fare. "turn back the clock 100 years or so"
This hotel is actually an old cruise liner which was used over 100 years ago. The boat is kept in the condition it was all that time ago so don't expect too many mod cons. my only real criticism is that the shower is a free instalation within the wash area of the cabin. an en-suite arrangements but with no shower tray so water can run around the bathroom. […] Although I recognise the owners are trying to keep to the original condition of the boat, they never had showers in their cabins in those days and so this is one are that could be kept up to date. a simple devider on the floor is all it takes to keep the water in its place. The staff on reception are very friendly and helpful and the bot is located about 10 minutes from Stockholm central station and 5 minutes walk from the nearest metro station. Finally the boat is a bit shabby topside and could do with some barnish. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for a short stay or single traveller"
There's a very good reason why eveyone mentioned the size of the rooms on every review that I read. They are indeed tiny. However, it was a novel experience staying on a boat. The location was superb. The breakfast was very nice. I used the sauna which was superb and suprisingly big, although the room it was located in was a bit smelly - just needed […] a new shower curtain. The staff were always helpful. We got really good wi fi signal. If you're travelling on your own or in Stockholm for a short stay, the Mallardrotningen is ideal. I think if you're there for a longer stay or are a larger person you may not find it too comfortable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel on a boat"
Great location and unique experience. 15 mins walk from Central station, on a very beautiful island with excellent views over the waters. Great room but it is a ships cabin, therefore very compact with a tiny shower room. The rooms are a little dusty, inspite of being cleaned daily, probably because the boat is old. It sometimes gently rocks! The deck […] is open and a great place for even more great views , the staff were always friendly the reception is open 24hours. In summer the sun sets late so this is useful. Good breakfast and a very central location for the old town. There aren;t any shops near by but the surrounding buildings are so impressive. I would stay here again if I visited again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beware of sea sickness!"
Nice experience to sleep in a boat with such a history as this one, but even though it is fixed to the shore and it is not moving, passing boats can create a wavy current and it can make you quite sea sick! I personally struggled a bit and could not stay at the boat during the day, where traffic in the river is at its max! In the evening had no trouble […] sleeping there where traffic is practically non-existent... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Do not stay there"
We booked a Comfort Room through Expedia. Room was so small we had to stack our bags on curge against the wall. Due to curve on wall was so small. Steps were so steep. Receptionist barely explained where the Tourist Office was to get information. None given at Hotel on what to explore in Stockholm. Breakfast was good. Very disappointed, as was so looking […] forward to our stay here. Top bunk had 18" above to ceiling. Most uncomfortable. Shower and toilet were incredible small and uncomfortable. intriguing place- the one-time private yacht of Barbara Hutton, now moored in the centre of the city. The cheapest and smallest rooms are very cosy- quite adequate as a place to sleep, but little space for anything else. Breakfasts were excellent, with bacon and eggs for those used to UK breakfasts. I would recommend this hotel as an experience well […] worth having. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and good price."
Well placed and a lovely and convenient location. Price was good for Stockholm. The room (cabin) was small but had all the necessary facilities and was clean. Fine for one although two might have been a bit of a sqeeze. The bunk bed was also fine. The breakfast was good with lovely views from the restaurant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I found the staff extremely helpful and staying in a captain's cabin was great fun - made the whole experience so much more pleasureable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A stay to remember and also a stay to forget."
The reason we decided on this hotel was because it is a stay on board a ship. So it is a new experience for us. But the downside of this place is surely the size of the room and the noises that come from the next rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
