I agree with the previous comments regarding the designation of this hotel as a 5-star -- that is most certainly not the case. At the same time, I have stayed in worse hotels. We found the Dedeman to be charmless but clean, and the fitness room is really quite good. Quality of the rooms themselves is uneven. Our room was tiny but adequate, with only minor signs of wear and tear (e.g., some of the veneer was peeling from the bathroom door). However, I saw another room on a high floor that was downright bleak -- no carpet, just a narrow, sparsely furnished stretch of synthetic flooring -- so be sure to inquire as to the particulars of any room that you reserve. Customer service was also uneven. Some of the staff were very helpful, while another seemed visibly annoyed, rolling her eyes and making faces as she listened to customer requests. The location of the Dedeman might be a potential drawback as it is indeed far away from parts of the city that tourists would like to visit. Dining was generally good. If you can afford to stay in a better hotel and/or in a more appealing part of Istanbul, by all means do so -- but if you must stay at the Dedeman for some reason, it will not ruin your trip.
"The hotel is nice, but quite far from the attractions"

We quite liked the rooms and the hotel common areas, don't miss out on the roof bar as it has some Amazing views. The staff could speak better English, but they're always willing to help. The room was nice but quite small. Maybe the hotel is not 5-star quality, but a good 4-star. The only drawback is the location: while the area is ok and you can find good places to eat, if you're visiting Istanbul you'll have to travel quite a bit to get to the old city or even to Beyoglu. Nothing terrible, but keep it in mind if you're looking for a place to pop in mid-day for some rest. We also found ourselves being scammed by taxi drivers when we were trying to get back to the hotel at night: from the Blue Mosque they asked for a fixed price of 120 Turkish Lira, which is at least 4 times what it would have been with a taximeter! We got off the taxi and approached other cars, but in the end we had to settle for 70 LT... Still cheap by our standards, but it left a bad taste in our mouth knowing we would have paid 25-30 LT if we found a honest driver. Other people in our group had similar experiences, as the drivers claim that crossing the bridge is a problem with traffic, and they all know a "secret" shortcut for which they ask you the fixed price - so either you over-pay and they take you back quickly, or they agree on the taximeter and get stuck in traffic on the bridge. Again, this is not a big issue and definitely not the hotel's fault (every time we took taxis from the stand in front of the Dedeman, we had absolutely no issues!), but it's something to consider when settling on this location. Overall however, we had a pleasant experience at this hotel, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best we found in Turkey.
"Definitely not 5 star hotel!"

There is no way to rate this hotel as a 5 star! I can not imagine 5 star hotel with outdated, old fashion rooms and the same style furniture and air con. The bathroom amenities are very scarce: no comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, robe. Shower area is small and unmaintained, with damaged tiles and always flooded floor. Location is also not perfect: it is almost 10 km to any sightseeing location--nothing is nearby. Even the Metro station or shopping center are 10-15 minute walk away. Breakfast is good but they offered fruit nectar, not fruit juice. Just one positive: free and fast WiFi, at least in my room. So, the hotel urgently needs renovation and to improve overall service quality.
"Not very impressive"

Ive heard a lot about this Turkish brand, but the stay was rather disappointing and did not meet my expectations. rooms are not as nice as the photos on the website, staff are not friendly and could not speak much english but they did their best to help. I do not suggest this hotel to anyone!
"Overpriced and low quality service"

The hotel is overpriced. The staff barely speaks English. The location is okay, 10 minutes walk to the closest metro station. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was very very good. Overall though I would not recommend the place (mainly for my two first points)

stayed in Hotel For 4days, it was a good experience, liked the service by concierge, helped us out quite a lot. Breakfast was good, Terrace Lounge was good, But One point i like to share is that the Live band was bit loud, after long day you just want to relax in Lounge

The hotel is too bad!! You cannot even find an iron, the room is too small and even the TV location is bad. Food is average and small variety. Internet keeps cutting. One of the worst hotels and it's over rated!

good service redeems this hotel. otherwise it has asmallish, stuffy, rooms an unremarkable location, no views from most rooms, difficult to get taxis in the evening and an expensive bar. Breakfast is most uninspiring But excellent service especially the concierge, though reception could be both more friendly and quicker Much better hotels at similar prices dotted around Istanbul.
"Small, old, awfull rooms"
06/03/14 Anastasia D Kiev, Ukraine
although Dedeman is concidered to be 5 stars it is hardly 3. Small, out of date rooms, have not working lamps, condition. Facilities for conference are ok, as well as pool, but in such a big city as Istanbul you could find much more interesting place for same money. will never recomend to anybody
"Good Hotel in the city center"
05/24/14 Myriam C Witry-les-Reims, France
Room was clean and comfortable, perfect customer service from all staff really appreciated, far from historic and tourist areas of istanbul but walking distance from metro station and far from the city's traffic jam which is permanent in Istanbul :) the only bad thing was the wifi not avaiable at room but in the lobby
