Great hotel - quiet and comfortable. Easy access to Napa valley.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"quaint and cute"
This hotel overall is very nice. This was our 2nd time staying there. I love the rooms, they are cute and homey and relaxing. The beds and linens are really comfortable, so comfy that you almost feel like you are at home. They will bring fire wood ready to go at your request for the fireplace, which is really nice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating […] and the breakfast that is included is really good. The only complaints I have and I have experienced this both times I have stayed here, is that the hotel is old and because it's old, faucets drip, the shower is scalding one minute and freezing the next until you get the knob to go just in the right place. Last time we stayed we actually needed to turn on the A/C and it didn't work. They did remedy the situation by giving us another upgraded room, so they definitely made it right. I haven't stayed anywhere else in Napa, so I don't have anything to compare it to, I imagine all Napa hotels with the same rating are this pricey, however, as much as they charge per night, they need to upgrade their plumbing. It's kinda pricey, but all in all, a nice place.... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Slice of Heaven in Napa"
La Residence exceeded in all areas!! Kimberly who worked up at the front desk was 1 of the BEST staff a person could ask for.She was willing to do anything and everything to make our stay so pleasant. She mapped out 1 of our days up to Spring Mountain and made reservations at the wineries she suggested. It was PERFECT!She made reservations at 3 other […] restaurants~~~she just handled everything! La Residence is very fortunate to have such a fabulous person that truly loves her job and people! The only thing we did not like was the noise of the traffic. This place is such a GEM and if there was something else this place could do for that I would give it a 10!It is absolutely a lovely place and the location was terrific as well!Thank you and we will be back! This was 1 of 4 hotels we stayed at on our recent trip to California and by far our favorite with the most comfortable bed. I look forward to being able to stay at this wonderful Bed & Breakfast type hotel again soon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful place in Napa"
We recently stayed at La Residence for three nights and wish they'd been more. The place is beautiful, clean and romantic. The grounds and well kept. Our room was very spacious and the linnens and towels were incredible. Comfortable bed and enough space for luggage. My only surprise was that considering that we were staying at a premium suite (and paid […] a premium for it) the bathroom sink should've had 2 sinks and a tub. Ours didn't. The sink is also sits on an "antique" table so there's not much space for toiletries or makeup. If you're traveling for a few days, like us, you pack a lot. We basically had our stuff spread all over the floor. Also, the breakfast was really nice. However, there was nothing hot, other than coffee. They had pastries, ham, cheese and one day, there was a quiche. But after the second day you start to crave something else (heavier). All in all, it was a great stay and we would definitely return again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Just what we expected."
La Residence has all the quaintness of a B&B but is large enough to offer amenities like a pool and hot tub. The room was cozy and appealing. The king bed was better than we expected. Although it was softer than our Temperpedic at home, we both slept well (could have been the wine and cool nights too!). I have a phobia about hotel bedspreads, so I appreciated […] the pristine white duvet cover on the bed. The bathroom was the only area for improvement. It had a pedestal sink with little counter space. The tile was clean, but outdated. The grout was a little worse for the wear. But still, there were plenty of clean, nice quality towels. The communal breakfast room was nice. It could seat about 30, with more seating on the deck. We found the breakfast to be a notch or two above a typical Continental breakfast. Each day, there was fresh fruit, danish and rolls, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, cheeses, cold meats, bagels, and a selection of cold cereals. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice outdoors but road noise is problem"
Pretty outdoor areas. We enjoyed breakfast on terrace, enjoyed pool and outdoor seating area. First room was very noisy from highway. I had called night before we arrived and requested quiet room so was surprised they ignored me. Next day we moved to quiet room but bed supports were bent so we rolled to middle of bed. After 2 nights of this we realized […] what was wrong and told hotel and they fixed it. They gave us a bottle of wine for our trouble which was nice. Room we paid for was a premium king. The first room was this but not the second though we paid for it. Second room was half size of first room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A lovely night in Napa"
We checked in with ease. We were informed that a wine and cheese hour would begin @6. It was lovely, sitting outside among the trees with Hall wines to sip on. Bed was incredibly comfortable the area was very quiet so a g rear nights rest. In the morning, we were treated to a great B&B breakfast of pastry , yogurt, fruit, hard boiled eggs. Deliocious! Very good. Would recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
La Residence provided a wonderful get away during our stay. The staff were so helpful and nice from the office to the ladies cleaning our rooms. They provided a Bed ad Breakfast feel to the inn within a larger (but not too large) environment. Thank you!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great getaway, about an hour away!"
The room was lovely, lots of windows, and our own porch. Beautiful grounds to wander around, a great spa and pool (unheated though), and really enjoyed the lovely breakfasts. The happy hour wine and nibbles reception was a good time to mingle with other guests, out on the patio, and then off to town for dinner. A very lovely get away from the demands […] of life in the bay area, and so close! The only slight drawback is the highway noise, because we were pretty close to the 29, if one is a light sleeper, this might affect you. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great Boutique hotel. Beautiful setting. Did not have any issue with the noise from the highway, and we were in The Mansion on the top floor. Room was well done and spacious. My ONLY complaint (and to me this is a big one) is when taking a shower the water temperature was NEVER consistent. The water was either very hot or ICY cold. Made for a very uncomfortable […] and annoying shower experience. I hope to go back and stay at La Residence, but will definitely ask for a room in a different building. "Not as good as it used to be"
I've been to Residence Inn several times, but this was my first visit in the last 10 years. I was disappointed. The property is still beautiful, but the rooms could use more maintenance and are starting to look a bit tired. In its earlier iteration, the owner was a talented chef and offered amazing artisan breakfast everyday. That is no longer the case. […] The property is under new ownership and the gourmet breakfast is gone. The new format is okay but a far cry from the original concept and its flawless execution. I suspect there are now many good alternatives in the valley. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Solid Hotel in Wine Country."
Overall, we had a pleasant stay here. Staff was friendly and it was close to the winerys. It is difficult to pull into from the busy road its on, so if you're from the city and not that comfortable driving, be careful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect Anniversary Getaway"
Loved our time at La Residence...staff, atmosphere, breakfast, wine suburb!Genuine Expedia guest review
A relaxaing getaway. Good location, good service, nice accomodations, attractive grounds. Only drawback was proximity to main highway - which was noticeable throughout most of the evening. That aside, I'd certainly consider returning and recommending to a friend or family member.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A must see"
We were so thrilled with our hotel stay while in Napa. What a beautiful location...very quiet, and private. Very nice wine and cheese reception daily and also morning breakfast set up. Close to the main town in Napa and also to several wineries along the way. We'll be back for sure!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
La Residence is situated right off the 29. Very close distance to downtown Napa but far enough to be away from the noise and traffic. We stayed here 1 night for a wedding and we checked in around 1:30 PM. Our Room was on the second floor #26. The king bed and pillows were very comfortable but there were some issues with the restroom. One of the dual […] sinks didn't drain at all and the shower had issues with having enough pressure so the shower head was drizzling while there was water still coming out of the spout. The room itself is outdated so the carpet and rugs were quite dirty...I kept my slippers on at all times. The staff were all very courteous and friendly and the breakfast had an assortment of pastries, oatmeal with toppings, boiled eggs, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Beverages were juice, water, tea, and coffee. Our overall stay was comfortable but improvements on cleanliness and bathroom plumbing can be made to make it a more enjoyable stay. "La Residnece in the Heart of Napa Valley"
Thouth the ambience was excellent, the setting picturesque. The continental breakfast superb. The staff very friendly. The drawbacks- CA-29 road noise / shower valves are old & hard to work- stems need replacing / the jaccuzzi could be hotter. The outdoor cushions were dew wet & dirty - how about stacking them @ night under cover.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
What a disappointment! Photos make it look like a country setting but it is RIGHT on the main Napa Valley thoroughfare and therefore loud with traffic noise. Rooms are dark and dreary and the breakfast was anemic. Would definitely not return to this hotel!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Bed and Breakfast experience in Napa"

It was such an adorable place to spend a night or two in Napa. I love their garden and their building. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I went to Napa with my mom, and by the time I booked my trip, they already out of their two-beds room. When I arrived, the staff told us that he felt sorry that we had to stay in the same bed. Instead, he gave us a bigger room located at the corner of the building with its own entry. It was a very well-decorated room with spacious bathroom. Also their breakfast was delicious.

"Relaxing and Romantic"
12/01/13 KarrieSue78 Pasadena, California
We stayed at La Residence the week of Thanksgiving, which this year also included our 10th anniversary. We had one of the suites in "The Mansion" - one of four buildings on the property. It was absolutely lovely. Lots of space, a cozy fireplace, relaxing balcony and thick walls - once in our room, we barely heard the other guests, which included a family with kids. The rest of the property was also very pretty. We relaxed in the hot tub under the stars and there were a lot of nice outdoor spaces and an outdoor pool, which I can see would be very enjoyable in warmer months. The staff was very warm and helpful and the included breakfast was what I'd call a "hearty continental" - many options for a filling breakfast before heading out wine tasting. The location was very convenient to the many wineries and restaurants throughout Napa Valley. There were only two downsides to the visit. The property is quite close to Rt 29 and, despite a barrier of tall trees, there is some noise from the road that can be heard in the room. Not enough to keep me awake, but I'm a pretty solid sleeper. The other thing is one of those things that's really hard to critique because everyone's needs are very different. But the mattress on the bed was extremely uncomfortable for us. It was a very soft, which felt nice at first, but the lack of support left us both with aching backs each day.

This week was our 4th stay at La Residence. The moment we stepped on the property 3 years ago- we knew it was something special, It is a small, understated, elegant property with cedar shingled buildings-surrounded by lovely trees, gardens and vineyards It is steps away from one of Napa's finest restaurants, Don Giovanni's. La Residence is the gateway to many vineyards along Route 29. We always stay in Cottage 16, which has french doors that open onto a brick patio-where you can sit with your morning coffee in the sun and there is a lovely fireplace in the room, to cozy up to. The staff is pleasant, courteous, and available if needed. The rooms decor and furnishings is french country- warmly decorated-unpretentious and comfortable. We always enjoy our stay here.

This is a great place to stay. Feels very comfortable. Great areas to sit and enjoy some quite time. Staff is very helpful and good meal in the morning. They have a great wine and cheese every evening. You can walk to Don Giovani for a good meal. 5 min to Yountville.
"Great place close to both downtown Napa and Yountville!"

Stayed here on our anniversary trip to Napa. We stayed in the mansion. The service was great. We absolutely loved sitting by the fire pit at night and the staff was more than happy to light it, give us wood for the rest of the night, etc. The breakfast was sufficient. nice to be able to grab a bagel or yogurt in a pinch. We were also told Don Giovanni's, which is within walking distance, was awesome. We never made it there but it was nice to know it was a close option. Location of la residence was great. It was close to both downtown Napa and Yountville. Easy to hop On over to either for dinner. Last comment- the shower in our room was SO tiny my elbows touched both walls if I held my arms bent at each side. (I am only 5'4"! So it was even more cramped for my 6' husband!) This was certainly not a deal breaker, but I would definitely request not to stay in that room again. The shower was just too tiny and claustrophobic!
"Great location, beautiful grounds, fantastic staff"
11/16/13 Ranjan R Austin, Texas
We had a great time at La Residence. The location is between downtown Napa and the long stretch of wineries to the north, so it's a short drive either way. The grounds are pretty, well-kept, and quiet. The room itself was nice (we stayed in the deluxe king) and clean. We enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese tasting both nights we were there, and the continental breakfast was also satisfying. Above all, though, the staff is incredible. As others have mentioned we were contacted by the concierge before arriving about booking tours during our stay. We opted for the olive oil tasting at Round Pond and the hot air balloon ride from Napa Valley Balloons, Inc. In both cases we received a discount over the normal price by booking through the hotel, and in the case of the balloon ride we even got free photos from the ride, which are usually extra. As a side note, the balloon ride was well worth the cost and is not to be missed! We want to particularly mention the amazing service of one of the staff, Candy. Always with a smile, she set up a complimentary fire in our fireplace both nights, helped find a DVD player and hooked it up to our TV for us, and even baked us a personal batch of warm, soft chocolate chip cookies and delivered it to our room (her suggestion!) She really made our stay very memorable.
"Great Hotel and Location"

We really enjoyed our stay here and found it very warm and friendly. The hotel fits really well in with the local area. The room was clean, spacious and charming. The daily breakfast was excellent - good choice and coffee readily available throughout the day. The evening wine and cheese tasting was a lovely touch and we looked forward to it each day. It was a bit chilly outside so we did not use the outdoor pool but some other guests did use the outdoor hot tub. It was a nice, peaceful, relaxing stay.
"Beautiful property in Napa"
11/07/13 lcp1019 Grapevine, Texas
The staff at La Residence is incredible. Before we even got to Napa, the concierge contacted us and offered to plan wine tours and tastings for us. Outstanding service! The breakfast each morning was delicious, and there was a nice variety. The property is gorgeous. La Residence is a quiet, peaceful retreat. Staying here put us close to both Napa and Yountville which was fabulous. I have two suggestions for improvement. First, the mattress was very uncomfortable, and I had difficulty sleeping. Second, the bathroom was tiny and did not have a tub (only a small shower), and it needed updating. Other than these two issues, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at La Residence. If the mattresses are changed and the bathrooms are updated, I would definitely stay here again.
"Very nice place."
11/03/13 dsf42 Princeton, New Jersey
We enjoyed our stay at La Residence and found it very warm and welcoming. There is a wine and cheese reception from 6-7 PM nightly. While the pool was unheated (thus not usable) the hot tub was delightful, and the robes provided were perfect to walk there. There is coffee available 24 hours a day, which is really nice, especially when you are still on East Coast time and awaken at four am! The location is very convenient to get on to route 29, but one should know that it is not in a town where you can just wake up and walk to stores/restaurants etc. It is only a five minute drive to Yountsville, however. Breakfast is nice with a selection of baked goods ( scones, muffins, breads, bagels) cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, and hard boiled eggs. The weekend breakfast also included quiche. Overall, a very lovely place. I would suggest that they add an elliptical and treadmill for those who want to work out a bit.
