We booked this hotel at the very last minute using Expedia. When we arrived three hours later there was a problem with the reservation and I had to wait at the desk for about fifteen minutes while the information was acquired from Expedia. There are two pools, complimentary lounges and umbrellas on the beach, towels are provided, and there is a drinks-only Happy Hour at the pool on the first floor. These amenities were great and really added to our family trip. Every Tuesday night there is a European Party near the pool on the 5th floor; we didn’t go, but we saw the flashing lights and saw dozens of trendy twenty-somethings heading in. On the down side, the annex really needs updating: the carpets were worn, the bathroom, although spotlessly clean, had peeling wallpaper and really old fixtures, and the elevators were so slow I decided to just walk the three flights each time. Overall, it was a good experience. I will return, but I will stay in the hotel, not the annex. One tip to save some cash: skip the hotel breakfast because it’s a bit pricey. While hotels.com was great about handling my issue, The Annex was not. It has the name of The Chelsea, but was completely different. The room was styled like a motel... Which would have been okay if it were half the price. It was dirty to the point where I wore shoes in the bathroom, and I didn't want to use the shower. The photos online are a little misleading regarding the rooms. The location of the hotel was perfect right by the boardwalk. We felt as if the hotel was trying to force our hand to give the valets tips. We found metered parking on the street. The other option was to pay $10.00 for 8 hours of parking at one of the cheaper parking lots. The second thing we did not like was the small room that was decorated with antiquated furniture and had what appeared to be a hole from a cigarette burn in the curtain. The third thing we did not like was that a hotel guest complained about us playing music too loudly at 9:30pm on a Sunday night of a holiday weekend. Yes, the music was loud; however, we paid over $200 for one night too. They could have at least given us until 10:30 or 11:00pm to keep the music turned up. We thought that would have been fair.
