"Sparse interior, unique, great bed, an LA bargain"
This is not your normal hotel. I think someone took a rundown Days Inn and decided to spruce it up but didn't want to spend too much, so they went minimalist...very minimalist. I mean, you shouldn't expect an ironing board or iron in your room. There's no hand towel rack. There are no chests of drawers. The "lobby" is sparse, dark, and strange. However, […] there is an incredibly comfortable bed, a flatscreen with DirecTV, and a decent amount of space. It's not a place to have a leisurely weekend in the room, but you'll get a comfortable sleep...and the bed is good for other things if you are so fortunate. Parking in the garage is free. The neighborhood is certainly fine and is only frightening to those who are leery of places with few white people. You'd have no reason to walk around there, but you have no reason to walk around anywhere in L.A. Regardless, it's safe. This is an odd place, but if you're looking for a bargain that's close to downtown and is in close proximity to a couple of highways, this is it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I like this hotel. Our room was beautiful, clean, and very spacious. The location of this hotel was great for getting to many of the tourist attractions I had on my list. I had a car and was able to get any of the attractions within 20 minutes (thats really good considering all the LA traffic). I also really liked that there was parking available here. I […] had two concerns with this hotel... First was that the door to my room had a bit of a gap and i always felt like it was open. I checked and double checked to make sure the lock was functioning properly and it was so I didn't make a big deal of it. & second was that I never saw any other guest in the hotels but I knew there was guest because the parking spaces were always pretty full. So that was a bit weird to me... Overall, I'd recommend this hotel to anyone and I'd stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was easy to find with our GPS. Parking was easy and safe. Staff were friendly. The hotel is strange. It is not much to look at; just a concrete brick, so to speak. There is not much in the way of décor; almost nothing. Common areas and corridors smell strange. Rooms look nice, but are almost minimalist in style. There are no rods to hang clothing, […] for instance. Very super modern. However, it was comfortable and the room didn't smell like the corridors. The bed was nice. Expect to get the least desirable room if you book at a discount on-line, as we did. The room could have been cleaner than it was, and maintenance could have been better. This hotel is just a place to sleep and nothing more. Other than the room, it is very unattractive. For a room in a large city such as LA, the price was worth it and the hotel was better than staying at a 2 star for the same price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a 3 star"
Dark hallways, barren rooms, a real depressing place. They gave us a room that had no place to hang my clothes -- and then moved us to one that had a very minimal wall-mounted rack. Nothing on the walls, many open areas where furniture should be. The night stand lamps were inadequate to read by. The neighborhood is trashed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Safe neighborhood, easy access to downtown"
Nice room. Wish there was a place to hang clothes. Would have liked an iron and board. They had donuts and coffee in lobby but pretty spare with no cream. I would, however, stay there again -- making it my LA place to stay.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel just where we needed it to be"
We went everywhere from the Sunset Strip to the Santa Monica Pier. We were able to get to these locations from our hotel fairly easily. Extra A++++ That this hotel did not charge for parking being that no matter where you go in CA parking charges are a nightmare. So we saved a lot of money just on that alone. Then not to mention that the hotel is not […] expensive. I belive you get a great deal for what you pay. Room doesn't have a lot of decor but the floors and bathrooms seem to have been recently renovated. We stayed on top floor (4th). We did not have issues with noise or anyone at the hotel. Hotel and surrounding area was very quiet. My hubby and I only really slept at the hotel as we were gone majority of the time. We stayed here for 3 nights and hubby has already said we would stay here again because it was an overall great deal. No real hotel amenities but if you're looking for a place to sleep that's clean, quiet, convenient, and inexpensive this is perfect. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A bit different!"
It's a room for the minimalist. The floors are not carpeted, so you can hear others others walk around above you. Parking wasn't bad, but if you get back late you leave your keys with the front desk and they park it for you. It's a very low-key place. We liked it and will be back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent hotel. Needs some artwork in the rooms"
Good hotel. Feels like a converted apartment building. Quiet neighborhood. The lighting in my room was way to bright, and there was only two small bedside lamps to offset. Need either a floor lamp or dimmer switch. The bed was nice, the room was clean. The walls were bare, except for a floor standing mirror and a TV hanging. It needs some artwork, […] like in the lobby...something to make the room seem less clinic like... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Free Parking, nice staff and clean and big room. My only remark was the ultra slow WIFI, a real painGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice location, great price!"
This is a very good property, the staff are very friendly and were always willing to help with my requests. The rooms are simple/modern in design and very clean. Private parking (gated after 11 p.m.) is a huge plus for this area. We definitely stay here on my next visit ti LA.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Didnt like the place, its shady, dark and dirty, the website makes it look great but once you're there it really is another thing.Genuine Expedia guest review
For the price it's not bad. Minutes from downtown. It's in korean town. Rooms are ok. Staff was really nice and helpful. The manager went over and beyond to help us when we needed it. "No Frills and Inexpensive!"
Stayed here for three nights; Pros: low rates, central LA location close to downtown and Dodger Stadium, on-site parking in secure, underground garage; clean room; free wifi and HD DirecTV; Cons: located in somewhat seedy, urban neighborhood (lots of multi-unit housing/apt bldgs on block)--didn't feel safe wandering around neighborhood on foot; no fridge […] in room (or ice machine at hotel); Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Odd little place in K-town"
We needed a clean, safe room in LA during a road trip -- and we found it in Shelter. But what a strange place! The rooms are large and decorated in a pleasing, modernist way (white walls, dark floors, dark "wood"), but it's like a ghost hotel. Very empty in the hallways. Secure parking for free and working free wifi was a plus, but was tempered by a […] lot of attitude from the front desk and absolutley no storage in the room itself. We realized we had no closet, no dressers -- no where to put clothes. (not to mention, no ice machine, no hair dryer, no iron ...) The cranky front desk guy moved us to another room that had a small wardrobe and a bookshelf. I don't store clothes in bookshelves, but at least he was responsive. I would not stay here again unless I'm back under serious budget contraints. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Adequate and Reasonably Priced but Needs Work"
Hotel was originally designed as an apartment building and apparently was once a Days Inn. The first floor is a garage which does not have enough spaces so cars are double parked but stuff will shuffle them around as needed. The second floor reception looks like a minimalist remodeled warehouse space. In fact the entire hotel is minimalist. My room […] had an OK bed, no closet and remodeled bathroom with separate shower and tub. There are no ice machines save for one that the hotel staff uses to get ice for travelers upon request. Enjoyed my stay. Modern, clean, included parking which is always a bonus. Highly recommended for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Prior to booking my stay - I read others reviews so m expectations were not that high. Upon arrival I noticed that the hotel was in a central and convenient location. This location allowed us to walk around, get food, go to CVS etc, EXCELLENT location. The hotel is small and cute, in a residential area and includes parking. The room was a good size […] for two people, there was a "closet" available , it was cute and inspire me to do something in a space I have in my home. The bed was comfortable ( not THE best I've slept on but it was a good bed), the bathroom was a perfect size for two people. The view from my window - not so great, but I wasn't in LA to stay in my room and look out of the window. My only negative but very true comments are (1) there wasn't an iron in my room (go figure the one time I need one, lol) (2) The cleaning that is done is basic, the walls in the bathroom needed to be cleaned, the linen on the last night was dirty and dusting should be included in the cleaning check list. BUT you cant expect a 5 star hotel with the rates that they charge. The rates are reasonable, and Id stay here again if I were in the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I've been testing out a few hotels in LA and this is by far my favorite. Free parking is everything to me, and a nice customer service rep available at all times. The room was clean, I was not bothered, and the walls were pretty sound proof so it was awesome and silent. I will be staying here more often!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet comfortable room - that's it"
Quiet, comfortable, spartan room. Not much else to the hotel, but that was OK with me.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Twilight Zone Status! Haha!"
You know that feeling you get when you enter a place, and it's just plain awkward? Empty hallways? Empty corridors? Empty office space? Just a desk with a laptop connected to a flatscreen tv and a photocopy machine behind the desk. The gentleman at the front desk took a photocopy of my credit card and license. The hotel & room looks great in pictures […] online. Nonetheless, it was a complete bizarre feeling upon entering the corridors to what seemed like an apartment complex slash motel/hotel wanna be? I am simply explaining the atmosphere and pathway to the room; it was just plain weird for the absence of decor as you walk through the corridors of white walls painted over. Next, you arrive to your room and the room was wooden floor; I don't know if it was waxed or just plain dirty, but every footstep made was a mark and smear on the floor which gave the appearance of a dirty floor. Like the hallways, the walls in the room were plain white paint, light switches were tilted (not aligned), so it looked weird. The raindrops from that rainy evening/night were clearly heard through the airconditioner. It sounds like a joke, but I seriously just needed the twilight music to play out of no where, the place was creepy. I would not recommend staying here unless you absolutely needed to; and even then, for $20 more you can stay at a better name brand quality hotel. I paid $124 and change. "Nice hotel close to everything in LA"
The late night hotel staff seemed like they hated there job, weren't out right rude just got us checked in very quick. The bed is so comfortable!!! "Stained Furniture and Ikea fixtures"
Horrible. The staff was nice for the most part, though it was always one employee on duty and that caused long waits for the simplest things. The furniture literally had stains on it - disgusting. I think they were going for thrift store chic, but failed miserably. The floor in the rooms look like they havent been cleaned in a long long time!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Comforter had bandaid and peanut butter/feces smeared on it , which I promptly sent to reception, shower curtain was speckled at the bottom with something brown. On the upside, staff was very courteous.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Things like the limited parking in the garage and not having an ipod dock or fridge in the room really didnt get to me, what did is the horrible customer service that was shown to us by the guy working the front desk. The hotel itself was over sold but something i was willing to deal with but that one guy ruined it so i would not stay there againGenuine Hotels.com guest review

i am staying here now, i was expect the hotel is ok, since the price is expensive . however, the hotel is too simple, don't even have hair dryer, super simply , clothes has no where to hand on too. the wall is so old, the bed is not comfort, everything is old. with paying this price, i suggest to book another one such as double tree. i won't come back […] here again, the tips for me to learn from here is no more booking any hotel you never heard before. "Price is right"
Resonably priced, secure parking(included in price) and a comfortable bed close to Cedars Sinai was just what we needed. The staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Room was large, clean, […] and quiet. I actually really liked the hardwood on the floors too, as hotel carpet can be pretty nasty. Many good things, especially the price, but very minimal. No haid dryer in room. Nothing like a vending machine. Security poor...someone could walk in from the street and get to any floor in the hotel without going through the front lobby. No chain guard on the door. Air conditioning was window open, and could hear the conversation of the family in […] the apartment next door...which, by the way, all had guard rails on their window and doors. BUT the location was great, bed comfortable, shower good, parking super convenient...so it just depends on how important those other things are to a person. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel downtown but beware the carpark"
The rooms are nicely decorated and minimalistic. Bed was extremely comfortable and bedding looked fresh and clean. Bathroom was very clean, but the faux suede bed end/stool had some very questionable looking white stains all over it. Probably not the right choice of fabric to have in a motel room - especially if you can't clean it between guests! The […] parking in the structure beneath the hotel is limited, so make sure you get in early and mostly, make sure you check OUT early if you have somewhere to be! Cars that don't fit in the parking structure are parked off site and in the morning, they all get double parked in the hotel parking lot. The front desk attendant has to move all the cars out of the way so you can get out - not terrible but something to factor in when working out how much time you need to get somewhere. "What a deal!"
Read the expedia and yelp reviews before we booked so was pleased to see the hotel was actually better than a lot of the reviews. Very clean, wood floors a definite improvement over iffy carpet in most places, and it was definitely the cleanest bedspread I've ever encountered in a hotel. I usually take them off the bed first thing. Very much as the […] official pictures portray, modern and clean. The hotel is in a residential area of Koreatown just two blocks off Wilshire. There are very good restaurants and coffee shops nearby, a grocery in the Koreatown mall has fresh food, coffee, baked goods, wine, liquor, etc.. They have fixed the pool so the back area now looks fine, didn't swim but for a future trip it would be nice. No mini fridge but they do provide ice if you call down to the desk. Free parking underground which is unusual, it's limited but they will move the cars around as needed if you double park and leave the keys. The neighborhood is walkable day or night, I walked alone early evening, probably might not late night but that is true everywhere. A lot of nightlife nearby. Close to downtown, the museums, etc. I would definitely stay there again as it is very reasonable. It's not luxe but for the money it's excellent. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
