I was in town for the BCS National Championship Game. Desk staff were very polite, knowledgable and informative. Room was clean, a little small, as was the bathroom. But overall, with a clean and we'll stocked fitness room, clean and organized hallway and lobby as well as a fantatstic breakfast, my stay was very friendly and pleasant. "Hollywod Hotel is a classic!"
We were a bit hesitant, considering the neighborhood, but the Hollywood Pleasantly surprised - a very nice place to stay. Not far from the LA Convention Ctr, we saved about $160 and were only five miles away. The staff was friendly, the rooms were very comfortable and quiet, beds were perfect, and with lots of pillows. The bathroom well stocked, though […] showing signs of wear but overall the hotel was very comfortable. Parking was $22 but the free breakfast was excellent. Custom made omelets by the chef, lovely vintage restaurant below ground floor. Very romantic! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hidden Gem in the heart of Los Feliz"
Bang for the buck. A few more dollars than the nearby Hollywood roach motels, this was well worth the extra bucks. I was impressed with the modern upgrades and comfortable bed! Plenty of street parking (to save $20) once you drive a little further past the metered spots. Felt like a studio apartment rather then a hotel room. Great discovery!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location! Superb hotel... Staff could benefit from a little courtesy course but excellent value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice breakfast buffet. Never saw the image you provided of the hotel. May need to update that.Genuine Expedia guest review
the hotel is not that good, but it was near the subway system at leastGenuine Expedia guest review
Working for a 4Diamond Resort as the Asst to the Hotel Operations VP, I'm pretty picky. This place impressed me. Staff was delightful. Place was clean. A few scuffs here n there, needs a bit of touching up but otherwise pretty great. No hot tub. Beds were a little too firm for my liking. Nice couryard. Excellent Breakfast Buffet. Sauna on every floor. […] Stayed 3 nights and never had any houskeeping issues. Gated parking and 24 hour security a plus. Did not like the parking fees per night but actual security patroling and not sleeping forgave that. Overall, would stay again and again and recommend. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great holidayGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel was convenient to every location (Hollywood and vine, downtown, Santa Monica, Venice, Beverly Hills, Pasadena). Easy parking, clean rooms, and courteous staff. Parking does cost $22 per night but is well worth the gated parking lot and attendant at the gate. Rooms are small but very nice. Has a nice courtyard to relax in just off your room. […] Great place! The flowing fountain looks very inviting but that is the only thing that is! Bad area for being out after dark. Rooms had much to be desired. Larger in size but the HVAC thermostat didn't work. Either on all the time or totally off. Refrigerator and microwave in room but not plugged in. No batteries in the fire alarm. Cold shower. Had to call maintenance. […] It was warm by next morning. "Don't let location & website description fool you"
I booked this hotel based on a few items that were badly misrepresented - location, specifically proximity to the Rose Bowl; hotel bar, and convenience to metro rail system and travel options. First, though only approx. 10 mi. from the Rose Bowl, there is no good option to get there and the hotel is located in a very sketchy neighborhood with no nightlife […] and justified safety concerns. Second, the quaint and lively hotel bar featured in the hotel website was never open. I was told it was closed at the bartender's discretion -keep in mind this was the weekend of the BCS National Championship game in college football being played 10 mi. away! Seriously? Third, though the clerk will tell you walk a block up the street to catch the metro, it is more like 3/4 of a mile and a limited rail system, although it was adequate to get to downtown LA and -though complicated- to the stadium on game day. Overall the hotel has SOME nice features, but very disappointing because of the above factors. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A little dirty but good location"
Great location for easy use of mass transit. Hotel is it a questionable neighborhood. Staff wasn't super helpful. But, you get what you pay for in a hotel. Bathroom was dirty but bed was comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very uneven experience"
I don't know whether this hotel is going through a renovation, but the room was very shabby compared to the common areas. There was no carpeting and the room had a distinctive odor. The neighborhood is also not very nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is overpriced and in an.... interesting neighborhood. It is a one-hour-twenty minute walk to the walk of fame. It is actually located in Los Feliz, not Hollywood (maybe East, East Hollywood). I felt like we were misled on some other things as well. The bar downstairs was closed. I heard other people ask questions and mentioned the website […] and was told that they didn't actually have a valet or a concierge. The rooms are okay but small. I recommend the two queen beds because those rooms are larger. Breakfast was quite good but did not open on-time. They have omelettes, waffles, sausages, juices, etc. However, nothing on the "menu" changes from day-to-day. The Northside of the hotel is very close to a hospital. You might want to request a room in the middle or the backside to get more sleep. Parking is $22 per day. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel, iffy neighborhood"
Had excellent customer service and this hotel has a great FREE breakfast. Neighborhood was just OK, take taxi's if you want to go out at night. Also a heads up that windows are not soundproof and you can hear traffic on Vermont in the evening (not horrid though).Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We stayed for only one night at this hotel. The room was too small and no closet and smelly. I love the breakfast the staff was very niceGenuine Expedia guest review
Very small room...excellent, friendly staff...great breakfast. Location is just ok, but pricing was fair.Senior citizens can ride the buses for 25 cents.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was way overpriced for what we are used to or expected. It was in an undesirable area. We wouldn't walk outside of it during the day! Not near any attractions that we wanted to see as a family. On the plus side the interior lobby was nice and the breakfast was fabulous. The staff was nice. Our room was okay at best and the bathroom old. I […] had to sign that I wouldn't complain about noise or bugs. Fortunately didn't encounter either. "Very pleasant stay!"
Our room was large, bright, clean, quiet, comfortable and looked out on a courtyard with a fountain, The staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel's breakfasts were about the best we've ever had: omelets, scrambled eggs, etc. and waffles prepared before your eyes by skilled, cheerful chefs and plenty of juice and coffee. The only slight drawback […] was the location; there aren't many shops or eateries in the immediate vicinity. One needs to go about three blocks further north on Vermont to find those -- but it's worth the walk! The subway is one block south of the hotel, so getting around the city is not a problem. First of all, you have to pay $22 dollars for overnight parking a sedan. I stayed there on December 30, 2013. Usually, a hotel which charges you two hundred some dollars would make you think it is a five-star one. Wrong. It is nothing but a upgraded medium hotel. I called from my room to ask about the hotel information, the clerk angrily said to me, […] "Everything is on the booklet. Call me after you read the booklet." But, do you know what? I and my family checked everywhere in the room, and we did not find the booklet. I had to go to the front desk to get it. I inserted 2.5 dollars for a bottle of soda, and it came out of a bottle of water. I inserted another $2.5 and did it again. Although I was sure I pressed the right bottom, same thing happened again. I told the front desk clerk. Instead of simply replacing me the sodas, he told me to get it refunded the next morning. Why? I thought because the next morning will not be his shift to take care of it. The pool is not heated and the sauna is limited to be used for 30 minutes. Although they told you it is going to a "full" breakfast, it takes sometime to wait on the line. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not convenient location too noisy"
The staff at front desk was not as friendly plus one of the clerks was chewing gum very unprofessional! I waited for a crib for almost 4 hours after calling the reception for the third time. No heater working plus the restrooms had no ventilation.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Do not go there!"
This was the worst part of my trip. One of the managers was disgustingly rude to me, spoke so degrading and condescendingly, the room smelled like urine when I walked in and the towels did not smell clean. My stay there was so uncomfortable because the manger would give me a terrible mean look everytime I would walk past him. There was an issue with […] my reservation and I tried asking questions for some options about checking in earlier to my room because I had just got done with a 20 hour road trip from where I am stationed & needed to sleep. They did not let me in earlier, considering I am in the military I would have thought maybe they would have let me check into my room since I had not slept in over 24 hours; I didn't see the big problem to checking in earlier if I needed it. I was more upset with the way I was treated and talked to. I will never reccommend this hotel to anyone. I also sent an email to another manager to complain about my visit and it has still not been responded to, showing me that they do not care about their guests. I emphasize to not go there because it is not worth the hassle nor the stay that you pay for. That same morning I had to go get another hotel to sleep in until the chek in time at their hotel. The Hollywood hotel is the worst hotel I've ever been to. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Grandma likes family-friendly hotel"
Good location, helpful staff, family-friendly, great breakfast. Room rate a bargain for what you get. Room clean and comfortable, but needs more furniture (had only 1 chair besides desk chair), and we were 4 people (1 adult, 3 kids). Is helpful to have gated parking at rear entrance, although it is not cheap. Good laundry facility. Good frig and microwave. […] Main deficit is that the otherwise large and attractive pool is unheated, so not feasible for swimming, especially children; this was a problem in Nov and even in Aug (last time I stayed here). Since pool closes at 8 PM, they should heat it during day and cover at night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Skip This Hotel. The bed I had squeaked and was as hard as a rock. The dorm room fridge made too much noise, so I had to unplug it from the wall to fall asleep and there must be no insulation in the interior walls of this hotel because I was able to clearly hear the conversations of the guests staying in either of the adjacent rooms. Lastly, upon Check […] in, I was told that I needed to pay an extra $22 to use their parking lot, or "I could take my chances with my car by parking on the street," said the less than friendly front desk person. "For the same price as a seedy motel"
I stayed here for a few days and was pleasantly surprised. I have a few gripes, wifi is horrible, the central air unit does not heat (a space heater is provided) and paid parking (roughly 25% of the per night price!). However the room is clean, the service is fantastic and the hotel is quiet and the breakfast bar was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is actually pretty decent inside but the surrounding area can be kind of sketchy. The front desk staff let me check in early but were really short with me. The guy didn't even say hello. The hotel isn't really near any tourist stuff, but it is near the redline and my friends I was visiting live in the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dishonest and liers"
They said it is walking distance to walk of fame and universal studios. That's why I booked this hotel. But is not. It takes 20 min drive to Universal Studio. The bed sheets were dirty. It was used before. The room was not clean. There is no air conditioning. The building needs renovation. It is not a triple star hotel. The rates are high. "Hotel grew on me..."
As we approached the property I thought we'd made a mistake. It was in a transient-looking area, no place one would want to walk around. The photo used in the listing is actually taken from the BACK parking lot, so I thought we were at the wrong address. Checking in, they xeroxed my driver's license and asked if I was still living at the address. That's […] a first. I wanted to leave but could NOT get a refund having booked on Expedia. The real problem was that I had booked only 24 hours before we left and the hotel rate was now substantially reduced from what I had paid. With really no choice, we adjusted our expectations, checked in and stayed. I have to say that the place actually grew on us. The breakfast was very nice in a clean, cozy dining room and the cooks and staff were friendly and wanting to please. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Heard a few young, rowdy tenants one night--didn't last long. At the lower rate, we might even consider returning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Worth Every Penny & Value at Its Best!"
Great staff, great service, decent breakfast, perfect location. I would definitely recommend this for the price!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Booked this hotel because it was just an overnight stay and close to my destination/business in LA but to be honest, other than having the housekeeping lady named Sonia who made me feel "welcome and valued" I think the rest would rather not have to get up to stay with them. First thing I disliked was that there was no indication on how to park and the […] lady I asked was pointing me to the exit instead of the entrance. Then the lobby person made me wait until 3pm to check-in ... during a shift change to boot so I had to wait until the replacement person to come out ... so I spent 10 minutes waiting at an empty reception counter. Then the next surprise was $22 parking fee - I wished Hotels.com stated that so I wasn't too surprised. There's street parking meters but I wonder how safe that is so I paid the fee. The room was clean and ok enough for a night's rest. It's not completely bad but I hope the hotel staff will be more friendly moving forward. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice stay in LA"
This was a pleasant surprise, as low priced hotels go. It was not in the greatest neighborhood but we did feel safe; we were able to park the car in the gated parking lot (2 hrs free). The only thing that we didnt like was the nightly $20 charge for the car . So, we parked the car on the side street overnight and moved car to the hotel parking before […] 8am. Public transportation seemed easily accessible, if needed. The only negative remark regarding the hotel's look, were the dark hallways...it made my son think of "The Shining"! and our room had no carpet. but otherwise, the place was clean. The breakfast in the dining area was spacious, and omelette and waffle station food was tasty & plentiful. I would definitely consider staying there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Make A Wish Trip (Extended Stay)"
We chose this hotel to extend our stay in LA for a Make A Wish trip for our daughter. The hotel was conveniently located near all area attractions. It was clean and the breakfast buffet was awesome! Two gripes: the smoke alarm went off at 3:00 a.m. When my husband called the front desk, they said to take the battery out. Which was fine. The other gripe […] is that they charged my credit card $115.00 two times (we had 2 rooms). The rooms were already paid for through expedia. They took my credit number for "incidentals". When I checked out they said I was good to go...no additional charges. When I returned home and checked my Credit Card I noticed it was charged the $115 twice. I have called the hotel twice, but it has not been resolved. Now I will have to dispute charges with my credit card company...hassle! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
