"A "cleaned at" room"
Reviewed by John of Milan on Oct 28, 2009
The room in which we were placed on our recent stay simply was not clean. It had been "cleaned at" is the best that I can say. The table tops and TV stand had some type of faux stone finish and when I sat down in the chair, the first thing that I saw was the filth behind the TV on this surface. The cleaning had simply stopped at the front of the TV. It was not just dust, but a thick crust of piled on dirt that had been there for some time. The same thing held true in the bathroom on top of the back splash. A layer of grime that did not just appear over a few day period. The bathroom also held some other surprises such as the chunk of food of unknown origin behind the ice bucket on the counter and the hairs that matched neither of us that was on the counter behind the soap holder. All in all, the property seemed clean, but with the knowledge of what our room looked like, I really wonder.

My daughter, 15, & I stayed in the Chattanooga Marriott at the Convention Center and could not have asked for a nicer hotel for the price that we paid. The room was beautiful, not a bad view, big flat screen t.v. The people working at the hotel were all very friendly, from those at the desk to the house keepers. They provide free shuttle service to downtown, though did not have use for this during our stay. They do not provide a free shuttle to the airport however, which I found to be very disappointing. The breakfast buffet was extensive, though did not take part in this. I would definitely stay there again.

the room was nice, but i'm unsure about the cleanliness. Perhaps noone had stayed in our room for a long time. Lots of things were dusty (pictures, toilet, fixtures). I got ready to make hot tea in the complimentary coffeemaker and opened it to find a used coffee packet - all dried up. It was gross. Had issues with the $12 parking per night. They even tried to charge us for Sunday when every person off the street drove in and parked for free - we had to argue to get that charge taken off. It definitely wasn't a horrible stay, but Ill probably try someplace new when I go back to Chattanooga.

The hotel was fine overall. But the shower head was damaged (they did fix it) and it didn't drain well. Also, I purchased the breakfast addon with the room, the breakfast that we got was a buffet. I wish I had known this when I was purchasing the breakfast addon, I would not have purchased it, if so.

We recently visited Chattanooga for a getaway from Atlanta and we really enjoyed our stay at the Marriott. It was within walking distance of the river walk and other festivities. Conveniently located at the freeway so it was easy traveling to other tourists attractions. My only complaint is the parking garage is attached to the convention center as well as teh hotel so it was a lengthy walk to get to our room after parking. Other than that, everything was great.

II've stayed at lots of Marriotts and this was probably one of the dirtiest. We had to stop letting our 1 year old play on the floor because his clothes were getting so dirty. The berber carpet looks ok but if you run your hand through it you pickup lots of debri. Kind of gross. The maids need to purchase a new vacuum ...or start using it.

All aspects of our hotel experience were great! I will definitely use hotel.com and the Marriott the next time my family travels to Chattanooga. The only thing I had to do that was very minor was that we had to call the front desk at 3 pm to have our room serviced by the maid's (bed made up, new towels etc). We took a 1 hour swim in the pool and the room was finished. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Good location w access to "free" downtown shuttle making up for paying to park daily. I wouldn't recommend the buffet breakfast, but its the only game in town since the shuttle runs late on weekends. There was something about the bedding too even though the bed was comfortable. I would stay there again but would shop around first. Love downtown Chattanooga, lots to see and do.

We have stayed at this hotel in the past for a family reunion and so when they decided to return to Chattanooga, we immediately knew that the Marriott would be our choice. This hotel is outstanding and their is nothing to say negative about it. The buffet breakfast is out of this world and well worth the price and the staff was beyond perfect in making sure that all needs were met. Had one issue that was taken care of very quickly with my key not working each time I went to the door, but this was handled and I couldn't complain even if I wanted to, the shuttle service is there every 7 minutes and the only I had to move my car from the was to go to Lookout Mountain. The staff and the hotel are exceptional and I had relatives wanting to change from their location and get a room with us. The bed was so comfortable that my son and I almost missed breakfast and we had an excellent view from our standpoint.

We were surprised to be on the concierge level and didn't know to use the key card to make the elevator continue up past the numbers on the button board. That would have been useful information for the front desk attendant to have told us, but the room service man in the elevator was very helpful. My two, young sons loved both the indoor and outdoor pools. The pools were clean and spacious. The hot tub was a little overfilled and bubbled enough to make us feel like we were white water rafting. We couldn't sit down or we would have drowned. The bed in our room made me never want to leave. The underpad, blankets, and pillows seemed to engulf me and lull me right to sleep. We didn't hear any noise through the night.

Our bathroom was small and did not have an exhaust fan, There was not a mini fridge in the room and the emergency fire alarm strob light flashed in interv. throughout the night, which woke my wife and myself. As if someone was taking pictures. The indoor pool was small and the hot tub looked as if it needed maint. But our view from the 14th floor was amazing, beautiful sunset. Beds were comfortable,no problems with hot water for family of four. everything else was satisfactory.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. We enjoyed being near everything yet not in the middle of everything. It is connected to the convention center, but it was empty due to Memorial day weekend. It was a 4 minute drive to the North Shore area of Chattanooga. We actually had about a 20 minute walk from the Riverfront to the hotel which felt like an easy and safe stroll. I would definantly recommend this hotel for the price we paid. Room was great. Although, we had to pay $10/night for parking yet there was never an attendant that would have ever charged me if I hadn't told the receptionist that I was parking there.

I chose the relatively pricey Marriott at the Convention Center because I wanted to suprise my wife and show her that money was not an issue when it comes to making her happy. I was suprised to see that I got my money worth. The Hotel decor was impressive and the atmosphere uplifting. The king-sized bed was more than enough for my wife and me and gave me one of the best night's sleep I've had in a while. The staff was helpful and courteous. We ate breakfast each morning in the hotel and I left our table feeling full and satisfied and at a reasonable cost. I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit the Chattanooga area. I don't normally take the time to fill out surveys or leave commments but this time I felt it warranted. "Two thumbs up" for Marriott Chattanooga.

I stayed at this hotel thinking that I would get great service b/c of the price and name, and although the beds were comfortable and the view beautiful the service was not 3.5 star at all. After leaving my room at 11:30am to sight see, I came back to a room that was not cleaned by maid service. After complaining to the front desk, they were actually going to send a maid to our room at 10:00pm at night to clean right in front of us - I had to call back and request to be moved to a new room. After we moved we overheard the maid complaining that she had to come all the way to our room and we shouldn't be leaving. I witnessed guests waiting to be seated in the hotel restaurant for 5 min. while all the servers and hostess was on break at the same time, the attendant in the gift shop was like a zombie and did not even greet my husband and I when we walked in to spend our money and to top it all off room service messed up our order on our last day. I will never stay at this hotel again and I have already told several people never to stay their either. This hotel really caused me to be weary of all Marriott Hotels.

My girlfriends and I went to Pigeon Forge for a "girls out weekend" we were very excited about our trip and from the picture on the website the hotel looked fine for what we needed. However, upon arrival we found that the hotel was an older hotel that had added a 7 story hotel to their property. Our room however was in the older section, not in the new addition as we had thought due to the picture on the web. We were able to "upgrade" to the new hotel and we at the time were fine with that. However, our feet became blackend after walking around in the room and we were awoken at 2:30 in the morning by the fire alarm. We proceeded to evacuate the building and went to the office to fine out the situation. The gentleman on duty was extremly rude and had no information at all about what had happened and did not attempt to comfort the concerned paying customers or even care that there was a problem. An older lady came up to us and asked if she should evacuate her wheelchair bound husband and small child and we told her yes, better safe than sorry- the people at this hotel were "on their own".The fire deparment was never dispatched and we were told to re-enter the building afer a security guard "looked around". I would sleep in my car before staying at this hotel again :(

Most of the people staying there were part of conventions, etc. Our room needed updating and there was a problem with the air conditioning. Maintenance was called twice to fix the problem. The hotel restaurants did not have high quality food. It took a long time to get service and then the food was cold!!! With two small children, this was not acceptable! Parking was also costly at this hotel. That should be a factor when staying here.
