Great service, better than other hotels in the same area. This newly renovated hotel is by far superior to other hotels in the same price bracket. The rooms are basically brand new, the bathrooms are great, loved the water-saving mechanism on the toilet that makes you feel "green" and helping the environment in a small way. Great internet speeed. I only had a small issue with the valet parking rate (higher than average) but in San Francisco, you just know that parking is going to be expensive.

I and my colleagues were attending a conference. I reserved Abri and other colleagues reserved other hotels. Based on the price, it turned out that I got the best room and hotel. There are many hotels in that neighborhood, some much better than Abri, but then you have to shell out extra dollars. The ones in the Abri dollar range are not near as good as this one. However, one thing that really pissed me off was when I reached there (it was midnight), they put me up in a double and not queen that i had paid for. So, I complained and next day they put me into a queen but did not give any refunds for the first night.

Close to BART, beautiful room, nice staff -- definitely worth it. Bedroom was a bit small but well designed. We got the urban suite with a foldout couch. The extra space was nice, and the sleeper sofa is fine for kids or smaller adults but probably wouldn't be comfortable for bigger adults or couples.

Extremely comfortable; incredible location; large desk with easy access to power and cable connectors; free Internet access ($15/day at other downtown chain); refrigerator (pleasant surprise); very reasonable room service rates from adjacent Italian restaurant (lunch/dinner only). Rooms facing courtyard very quiet, but outside light is muted. Negative: Aromas from adjacent restaurant noticeable in room most of the time.

And my closet was about 12 inches wide. Other than the size of the room I was comfortable with everything else. I would stay there again.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights and were extremely pleased. The staff is the absolute best. The beds were the most comfortable I have ever experienced in a hotel and our interior Urban Suite was extremely quiet, which is hard to come by it seems in Union Sq. The location is perfect. The cable car turnaround, trolley, and subway are literally around the corner. And there is a ton of shopping and restaurants within walking distance.

My sister and I stayed at the Hotel Abri 11/7-11/10. The staff is helpful and the room, especially the bed, was quite comfortable. As others have remarked, ask for an interior room away from the elevators and away from the Ellis Street side of the building. The location is perfect for grabbing a bus, streetcar, cable car and BART to/from the airport using San Francisco's expansive and easy public transportation system. To plan your sightseeing from the hotel with details on schedules, boarding cross streets and transfers, do some research before you go on the MUNI website.

Staff was very helpful with questions regarding airport transportation, recommended neighborhood restaurants and help with connecting to the internet. Silly detail: I loved the soap - L'Occitane, my favorite. My two main problems with the room: water pressure in the shower was very low, and the windows let in a lot of noise from the street. The hotel was in great condition, as was my room. I got the Urban Suite, and was impressed by not one, but two huge flat screens. I think the only downside to this hotel, and some may say its the charm, is that you can hear noises outside very easily. I was on the second floor, and all night I could hear cars, trash trucks, and even people going through the trash. There are quite a few panhandlers in the area, but this is true with most hotels in downtown SF. Dual or triple pane windows would've been nice here. Finally, the last big caveat, if you valet your car with them, they currently charge $50 per night (after tax). Most hotels in the area are also valet only. Even with the nightly valet fee, hotels.com makes this hotel more than worth the price. I highly recommend, and would stay again.

While the stay was not horrific or anything like that the quality of the room was below par. I mean the room was spacious and "could" have been neat but the details just were not there. The fit and finish of the room was terrible and looked to have been worked on by amateurs. The room could have been cleaner as well, like a lot cleaner. I felt more like I was staying at a strangers home that was unkempt. These were all turn offs and not reflected in the rate which would have been more understandable if they were. Since I have stayed at nicer places in the same vicinity for an equal or lesser rate this also effects my rating. On the positive side its a good location for Union Square it wasn't noisy, the bed was comfortable and it was roomy but I don't remember the level of room so that may be useless information.
