"Great stay at The Abri"
The hotel has a great location and urban vibe to it. The staff was great and attentive. Our TV didn't turn on and they were there within minutes to fix it., same result when I needed assistance unlocking the room safe. We walked to Dottie's for an AMAZING breakfast and felt a little unsafe navigating the homeless, but didn't encounter a problem. Bed […] was really comfy!!! We stayed in the Urban Suite, facing the interior "courtyard" so our room was really quiet, a nice respite from the hectic Union Square. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient Union Square Hotel"
A great hotel option in the Union Square area. Extremely convenient to Bart and Powell Cable Car Turn Around (only a block up) so if you have lots of bags you don't have far to go. Lobby and staff were welcoming upon check-in in late evening which was completed in moments. I had a room on 5th floor with a king sized bed which was comfortable. I actually […] found the room a bit bigger than other Union Square hotels I have stayed in but be aware SF rooms are smaller than those found in most US cities. I did have a street facing view which was annoying when the club across the street got out at 2am and woke me up despite my earplugs. I should have taken the inside facing room when I was offered one at check-in. Overall, I really liked this property and would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice room--comfy bed. TV was too small to enjoy while laying in bed, but overall, the hotel is a great find. Convenient location. Its trendy, boutique feel is complemented by a pleasant staff. Would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small rooms, nice staff"
When we arrived at the hotel we were given the option of a larger, noisier room on the street side or a smaller room looking opposite Ellis St. We picked the large, noisy one and boy was it tiny! Can't imagine what the small ones looks like. Parking is $40 + tax and it takes almost 1/2 for them to bring you the car. Internet is free but oh so sloooow.... […] There is a mini bar but it's empty. Room service stops at 10. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Excellent location, especially if you arrive from the airport on BART. Only 1 1/2 blocks from cable car turnaround at Powell, BART station and F line streetcar.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Love the hotel"
I had a great stay at Hotel Abri. I was there for two nights. Very nice decors in lobby and chic in the rooms. Very comfy bed. However, because of its location, it tends to be pretty noisy. But that's what you get for staying extremely close by everything in downtown SF, which didn't bother me at all. The bathrobe was extremely comfortable. It's a great […] value for a SF downtown hotel!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel, Staff and incredibly convenient valet"
The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The valet service was well worth the $40 a night and super convenient. My rental would be outside waiting for me when I arrived at the lobby and I didn't have to worry about parking tickets or it being towed. Got the suite on the top floor, the 5th floor. The living room and bedroom were spacious and comfortable […] and accommodated multiple friends coming to hang out after the bars closed, which in my opinion is way too early! Looking forward to staying here on my next, hopefully soon, trip back to the Bay! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice place"
Spent quite a lot of time there recently, place is fine, great location and you can get rooms for a very decent price most of the time. They have huge TVs with convienent input should you want to watch a movie om your ipad/laptop. One big downside: the wifi sucks balls, but only on iPads, surprisingly my laptop had no problem. Which, for me, means that […] wifi sucks balls since i spend more time on tablet. Besides that, a nice place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect Location, Low Price"
Hotel Abri could not get any better in terms of location. Especially for the price; we typically pay for one night what we paid for two in this area and the hotel and room was every bit as nice, if not nicer. Literally steps to the Powell Cable Car turnaround and Union Square shopping. There is a nice Italian restaurant that you can enter through the […] lobby with a good happy hour. One thing, this is an older building and as to be expected with any older property you can hear footsteps and conversations as people pass by in the halls. But they tend to diminish quickly. That was really the only negative to the hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, rooms were clean, all in all a great place to stay. Will definitely be staying here again when we visit the city. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"2 Large screen TVs and 2 rooms. Great place!"
I really enjoyed my stay at the Abri. I stayed overnight at the Omni the night before and wasnt impressed at all with their small overpriced rooms. I had a room at the Abri with the bedroom and small living room so it was very roomy and more of an apt. I got it at a great price as well. Parking at $40 bucks a night sucks but thats the going rate. The […] location is great and the area is safe to walk around at night, which I did. There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and the in room coffeemaker for early morning free coffee is a plus. I will be staying here the next time I come to the city. I have stayed at several hotels now in the SF area and this one is a keeper! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Looks like a most-ly updated upscale hotel"
Other than the small-ish rooms and not replacing old doors (so they looked chipped and worn) the hotel was very nice. The staff was amazingly helpful and the lobby is incredible. Great deal for the price, I would recommend going here. Only real issue was the street-view room with poor sound-proofing gave me the opportunity to wake up at 5am to some […] crazy guy outside yelling at no one. Still worth it! "Great location"
Great location near the bus, the cable cars, and the metro. Always had great service and our room was small but comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location, clean room, nice linens, but staying on the street side is incrediblly noisy. I had to keep the AC on just to get some sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"My opinion"
It is very difficult to see, we followed our GPS and it took us right by, however it took 3 times to drive by to find it. The orange sign, which is not above the lobby door, just blends in and the door is marked lightly. The picture on Expedia is misleading. The building is shown diagonally so it appears that it is off a diagonal road, this is not true. […] The restaurant, which is very good is on the corner and the hotel lobby is towards the middle of the block. If you see the Subway (sandwich store) and Coldstone Ice Cream shop, it is directly next to the Subway store. The front desk help are very friendly and willing to help out. We had been sent an email stating we would qualify for a free upgraded room, which we did not get. And the room we were in was quiet as far as other guests however at night we could hear the homeless people rummaging through the garbage dumpsters below our room. There are a LOT of homeless, hungry people around, most do not ask for handouts as they just go about their own business. Also, if you have a large vehicle (pickup), the charge for parking is $50 per day instead of $40 per day for others. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"very convienent to all the shop"
It was my first time staying at Hotel Abri. It was very nice and modern of the hotel except for the noise of people walking by and people staying upstair we could hear it all. Other than that I am very please with my staying. Oh another thing the parking was $40/day plus tax. That was a lot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Awesome place, would definitely stay again!"
I had booked another room at another Union Square Hotel on New Years Eve as the Abri was sold out. "Great Choice in San Francisco"
Hotel Abri was a wonderful choice for a leisure family trip to San Francisco. With two teens, we shared an urban suite which was perfectly set up and wonderfully designed. The staff is fantastic. Location could not be better if you want to be in the Union Square area. As one who has stayed in hundreds of hotels including many boutique hotels, I know […] that the term "boutique" is overused. "a hidden gem in the heart of san francisco"
this is a little hotel in the heart of san francisco. it was cheap considering that we're staying close to union square. everything is walking distance from this hotel.... shopping, restaurants and there's even a club in front of the hotel if you're into that scene. the room is kind of small for US standards. the only reason why i gave this hotel a […] 4 star instead of 5 is because of the service. service was good but when they clean your room , they won't re stack your toiletries. i have to call the front desk to point this out. overall , i will still go back to this hotel. its a hidden gem in the city. We stayed there for this Christmas and really enjoyed ourselves. Close to everything, walking distance to union square. Pleasant accommodating stuff. The montecito inn is now know as hotel Abri. Greeted at the door by very friendly staff, who were very accommodating. They upgraded our room (just because a few of the sweets were available). "A gem in Union Square"
We normally stay at Fisherman's Wharf, but this time wanted to stay near market street where all the shopping is. Hotel Abri is perfectly situated for that. It's right around the corner from the streetcar that takes you to Fisherman's Wharf. Everything we wanted to see or do was within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly. […] I don't like to valet my car, but that is all they offer here and it does not disappoint. We opted for a quiet room rather than one with a view (of the street). The room was indeed quiet. They have DirecTV and provide complimentary in-room wi-fi. We were very pleased with our stay here and will definitely stay here again when our travels take us back to San Francisco. "Nice Hotel, Great Location"
We've stayed here twice -- once when we were attending a play at ACT, and recently, when I had an early appointment, and didn't want to have to leave my house in Sacramento at 5 a.m. to get there in time. Both visits were very pleasant. This time we were upgraded to a suite, which was nice. We left our car with a relative who lives in the East Bay, […] and took BART into the city. The hotel is a little over a block from the Powell Street station, which makes it very convenient. Once we were in the City, we were able to get everywhere we needed to go on foot. Dining tip: Check out Colibri on Geary, across the street from the Curran Theater. Great Maragritas and yummy upscale (though not expensive) Mexican food. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A Delightful Surprise in the Middle of San Fran!"
What a delightful surprise the Hotel Abri was! We were looking for a quick and economical choice for a spontaneous weekend stay in San Francisco, found this hotel and booked with Expedia at a great price! For the price we paid, we were expecting to compromise on quality, however, we were super delighted with this hotel! Location was ideal. Right in […] the center of everything! Our first impression was outstanding. Time and care have been taken to choose the decor and space arrangements in the lobby. It was beautiful and cozy. The staff who greeted us was young, attentive, very friendly and obviously very well trained in the arts of customer service. What a breath of fresh air they all were! They did every possible thing to meet our needs. The parking valets were the friendliest and best we have ever encountered. They work amazingly well under the stresses of crowds and busy city streets. We will most definitely stay at Hotel Abri again AND give high recommendations to our family and friends for their adventures in San Francisco. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Terrific SF Location"
This is a lovely hotel in a fun area. It used to be the Monticello, well known to locals, a place I visited many times when living in SF. My stay touched the strengths and cautions of this hotel. I was in SF on business. On the first night I was placed in a room on middle floor straight above the main street, Ellis. Even with the air conditioner on […] for white noise, there was so much street noise of various types--from clubbing to garbage pickups-- that I got almost no sleep. And, mind you, I used to live there so I'm accustomed to ordinary street sounds. They moved me to a quieter room the second night. My conclusion: if you're there to party, this is a perfect location. On the other hand, if you're there for business, be sure you get a room that will allow sleep. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best location for shopping!"
We really enjoyed the hotel - cozy with friendly staff and very comfortable bed and pillows. Best part is the location - a couple of blocks in any direction takes you to major shopping with lots of choices of food along the way.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to great shopping!"
It was a great location for our shopping trip. 5 mnute walk to Union Square and 5 mnutes the other direction to 5th & Mission shopping area. Cable Car close by as well. The only complaint...we didn't know it was a "dog friendly" hotel. We had dogs running around unattended next to us while we were trying to sleep after a long day/evening of shopping. […] I called the front desk and they said they would take care of the situation. The staff apologized for the disturbance the next morning. I felt they should have offered some time of compensation but didnt pursue it. The hotel is not a place to hang out but a great place to rest after an action packed day. We will most likely return. "Simply the very best bang for the buck"
We've tried a few hotels in the area from very small private hotels to big chain hotels and let me tell you, hotel abri has been the best thus far! Service was excellent. Valet was awesome. Parking was cheap. Room was clean, modern, and had a very nice view or the street. This is a fairly small hotel with amenities some big hotels don't have. They pay […] attention to detail. The neighborhood is very loud at night but we wouldn't have had it any other way! Plus, walking around all day makes you pretty tired so, we can sleep through the street noise. "Fantastic Urban Boutique Hotel"
I love this place and will definitely be back! It's a great boutique hotel if you're looking for a fun, hip city experience. I got the Urban Suite-a bedroom with a King bed and a seperate sitting room with a pull out sofa bed. Bathrooms are a nice size and amenities are great. Flat screen tv's in both rooms with direct tv. Right by the heart of Union […] Square, a two second walk to the BART, and a few blocks from all the Tenderloin bars. Across the street is a club and yea, there are homeless people around, but come on, it's the touristy area of SF. If you want peaceful serenity, you might want to find another area all together.
