The hotel was very clean and the room was very spacious. Beds very comfortable. Didn't have much contact with the staff because we had no issues. Front desk personelle was very nice. Would definitly recommend this hotel.

It appears that the hotel is working hard to upgrade the dated areas but they skipped the bathrooms. Simple upgrades like half round shower rods so the curtain is not stuck to you when you shower and new shower heads that have more pressure will go a long way! I was very pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Most of the guests are staying for the Track/Casino. The pool was great for kids, the rooms were very good. The only negative comment is that the front desk staff seemed less professional than other "chain hotels" but I had not problems at all and it seemed to have been recently renovated.

I was disatisfied with the bathroom in our room. The shower curtain was ripped and all stained. It was very dirty behind the bathroom door. There was alot of hair and even a dead bug behind the door. I was not very happy. I thought your hotel would have been cleaner.

The two guys that checked us in were very nice and the waitress at the restarunt, but the casino bar workers make you feel like you are bothering them. But there is a lot to do, we were their for a running road race the next day, we had fun as the casino, horse track and we watched the band at night.

Stayed at this hotel several years ago and was disappointed by how it has aged. Everything is just run-down. Elevators are slow and shakey. Room was not very clean. Room air conditioner very noisy. Listing said "breakfast included". Well, there is a continental breakfast on weekdays but nothing on Saturday or Sunday. The beds were very uncomfortable, too soft and sunk in the middle. We were only theer for a stop over and to check out the casino. Bathroom was ok. Room had microwave and fridge but no iron/ironing board. The light from the parking lot lit up the room until about 2am. So needless to say, we didn't sleep much.

The rooms were very clean except for the bathrooms-musty and mildew on shower curtain - calking around tub and enclosure needed to be cleaned and some of it replaced. We arrived at the hotel at approx 2-40 pm. When we entered the lobby, there was a line of people waiting to be checked in. We were told that no one could check in until 3pm. We were here many years ago, and were not impressed. This hotel has changed greatly over the years. We went to see Average White Band play, it was only $10 a ticket. Turned out to be a great time. I have stayed here several times before and it was ok. A couple of things though..... 1.) The toilet bowl kept running and making a lot of noise. We had to jiggle the lever to stop it. 2.) When I turned on the shower, it made a very loud squeal and continued while the water was running. 3.) When my daughter turned down the bed, she looked at the pillows […] and all 3 had hair on them, hopefully they just forgot to change the pillowcases... (Wasn't too happy with that. The other 2 I could live with, but cleanliness is the utmost importance to me!) However, on a positive note.... There was no evidence of bed bugs. They need to step it up a bit... I just returned from a week's stay at the Vernon Downs Casino and Hotel and have never been happier to be home. Immediately upon checking in, the man behind the desk started asking questions that were none of his business and made the situation extremely uncomfortable. When it came up that I booked through Hotels.com, I felt like my money wasn't as […] good as someone who booked from them directly. I settled into my room and tried to turn the TV on, but the remote would not work. I called the front desk and after 10 rings, hung up with no answer. They called me back a few minutes later and said they would send someone up with batteries. 45 minutes later I called back and again, no answer. When they called me back again, they said someone came by but I didn't answer the door but they'll send someone up again. The guy showed up, took my remote and left the room for another 10 minutes. Low and behold, it worked after that. The overall room cleanliness was below average but the bathroom was even worse. I could not feel clean taking a shower in that bathtub. I'm 6'2" and when taking a shower, the water only hit as high as my shoulders. Not to mention the shower head was so corroded that water flow was minimal. When we finally found the restaurant was open we had a horrible experience there as well. Ended up having to talk to the manager and received my meal for free due to the horrible service. Last but not least, the breakfast offered was served in a small room on the third floor. The coffee was watered down, the danishes were obviously frozen and defrosted and the only options were a few random cereals or bagels/breads that did not seem very fresh. Overall, I was very unhappy and uncomfortable for my weeks stay and if I had not been pre-paid by booking through Hotels.com, I would have left there after the first night. Arrived late, 10pm to stay one night before traveling to final destination. Room was large however, for a non-smoking hotel burn marks all over couch. Toilet seat had dried urine stain on the front of the bowl and top of seat. Party commences at 11:30 pm in room above with banging, loud music and runs till 2am. Inform desk around 1 am to ask if they […] could calm them down. All are entitled to party however, the noise picked up in retaliation. Front desk did not care to assist at all. they are not very commedating if you arrive to the hotel early after driving hours on end. i would not recommend this hotel/casino to anyone. there are plenty of other places that you can stay at for a better price and conditions.

HOTEL ROOM WAS COMFORTABLE AND SPACIOUS. HOTEL CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT WERE QUICK AND SMOOTH. LOCATION IS A BIT OUT OF THE WAY BUT STILL CONVENIENT FOR THE SURROUNDING AREA.

The hotel room was in surprising bad condition. The bath had black mildew throughout the shower, the floor had hair, the bed spread was stained and the bathroom facilities were poorly maintained. But completely forgetting to clean our room between the two nights of our stay was the clincher. Would recommend that you avoid this place altogether.

A nice hotel with a unique proximity to race track and casino. The room was sizeable and comfy but the bathroom needs a redo urgently...broken tiles, mold and and a dirty shower curtain didn't match the comfort of the room. The door needs some grease...sounded like a coffin opening. A good experience but could have been much better.

We were at the hotel for an overnight stay and were very pleased with our room and the hotel itself. Lobby decor reminded us of one of the upscale Vegas or Atlantic City hotels. I expected much more based on some of the previous reviews, but I wasn't all that impressed. It was on par with a Days Inn, which I do not consider to be all that wonderful. However, you should note that I did not go to to the area to gamble, just to get a good night's sleep.
