I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. This hotel is near to both Michigan ave. shopping and River North resuarants. It also now far from the Loop area. The rooms are on the small side, but comfortable and if you not planning much in them they are fine.

As a former 10-year Chicago resident and near-monthly traveler back to the city, I generally grab the best deal on a great hotel downtown (Loop or Mag Mile) that I can find on hotels.com. HI-Express Mag Mile might just have finally made me pick a favorite. The location is truly spectacular (a couple of blocks off of Michigan Ave, so you get the proximity […] without the hassle of all that foot traffic right out the front door; nestled among high rises and Gilded Age mansions; across the street from Trader Joe's and Starbucks and a block up from Pizzeria Due and 2 blocks from Pizzeria Uno...). Service was lovely, attentive, welcoming. Free, full breakfast and 24-hour coffee. Free in-room internet. Yes, the rooms are postage-stamp-y (think Club Quarters), but very cute/mod and well-maintained. The only case where you might pass on this is if you will be spending a lot of time in your room with multiple kids -- maybe then too tight. Otherwise, this is wonderful. Read more

I have been attending the Chicago dental meetings for 38 yeras and this was my first time at the Holiday Express. The location could not be any more convenient on Wabash near Ontario just two blocks from Michigan Ave. Many great restaurants in the area including Lawry's, Quartino's, Portillo's, Chop House and many more. The rooms are on the small side […] which was fine by me because I was just looking for a place with a comfortable bed to sleep in. The cleanliness and the helpful staff there makes you feel comfortable like you were at the Ritz. I would definitely stay there again. I realized after arriving back in NY that I had left one of my neck ties there and a call back to the hotel and a gentleman by the name of Fran was so polite helping me tracked down the tie and is shipping it back to me......all without an attitude. Let me just preface this review with saying that I am a student, and usually have to choose between staying in a cheaper, run-down hotel in a sketchy part of town, or a more expensive hotel that is closer to the attractions. With that in mind, I'd like to say I was very pleased with everything about this particular hotel. It had a good price, as well […] as clean rooms, a good staff and right downtown. They also have a pretty decent breakfast buffet, as well as computers and free printing. If you're looking for luxury or have a family, this probably isn't the place for you, however. It's definitely just the bare bones with comparatively small rooms (which are still a pretty good size), and I could imagine kids would go nuts. All staff were incredible, from front-desk to housekeeping and door service. The hotel is centrally located and surrounded by everything you could need: the subway, restaurants, bars, shops, grocery stores, and pharmacies. The room was a little small, but all in all it was worth it. I would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I, paid for a queen size hotel room. When we arrived, we were a bit suprised, the room was the size of a college dorm room. I had to jump over the bed just to get to the bathroom, my husband almost hit his head on the tv, that was mounted on the wall, because the bed only gave you 2" of space to walk around.... it was interesting.

Got this room for a great price however it was very small. Plus if you want to have your car parked with the hotel it is an extra $45.00 which I think is unfair. But overall I would be willing to stay here again.

Friendly staff, decent breakfast, and convenient location. Rooms are clean, well maintained, and noise free, but a little small room. Overall though for the price, it is a very fair bargain.

We stayed 11 nights at this lovely hotel in the centre of Chicago, we had a pleasant stay. Staff was very helpful and friendly, especially the breakfast crew. The only problem we faced was the room temperature. When we arrived, the room had 15 C, and it did not heat up until the next morning. We are light sleepers, so we could not leave the heating […] on at night, it is very noisy.. But then we found out if we heat the whole day, it reaches 23 C in the evening, then we turned it off and in the morning we had 16 C, brrrr... Of course if someone can sleep well in spite of the noise, the heating is no problem. Also, the windows were leaking a bit. But really, besides this, we would come back to this hotel, perfect location, very clean, newly renovated, very good breakfast and nice hotel personel. Read more

The hotel cleanliness and décor was awesome! Breakfast wasn't too bad. The customer service was not great though. We were not greeted with a "Hello" or "How may I help you." Another time at the front desk, the lady was more interested in telling another co-worker to look at the car that her husband also has than trying to help us. We could have been […] back up to our room within minutes but that made us wait twice as long and there was no one else there. The next morning, we asked for more towels from a worker who was at the Linen closet and they told us to call the front desk? It didn't make any sense to us. It's a small but cozy hotel. It's comfortable enough to get some rest and it's close to many different places to shop or drink. The only disappointment is the fee for parking. We paid $44 per night but it came with unlimited in and out access.

My favorite part of the hotel was the staff. They were genuinely friendly, helpful people. The hotel is only a couple blocks away from the Grand train station-- even an easy walk in 4 degree weather with snow! The hotel room we stayed in was a tad small, but it was put together well and had more comforting decor than normal. We also had a fantastic view of Chicago from our window. I like that it is quite convenient that it is close to places. Things I dont like: you can hear people outside your room talking or even walking. I really prefer any places I stayed to have parking garage or at least self-parking with in-and-out privileges so I dont have to pay extra for valet which cost me a lot, like half of what I was paying to stay […] at the hotel. I also dont like the fact that you have until noon to check out but the cleaning lady already knocked on your door since 10AM.
