The hotel has a beautiful decor and we loved our balcony over looking the interior court. We paid extra for valet parking, but it was worth it and the staff was friendly and accomodating. Valet service is unlimited access, which was important to us. We were at first a little leary about staying in downtown hotel, but in the end we were very satisfied.

Reviewed by Steven of Gahanna on Oct 14, 2009
Hotel wasn't bad, but I would consider it more of a 3.5 to 4 star establishment. I expected something much more luxurious. The lobby, while nice, wasn't as upscale looking as I anticipated. Actually, the hotel looked more like a boutique. In my room, the furniture was badly nicked and wasn't elegant. The mattress wasn't a very expensive one. The television was a traditional analog CRT, and none of the local networks were available. The channel guide was totally incorrect. I later found out that the hotel was in the process of renovation and that my room was one of the few that hasn't been worked on. My room had a balcony facing out into an open indoor atrium. I noted why standing on it that the ceiling above the atrium was flaking. It was also poorly insulated as I could clearly hear the piano from the lounge with the door closed. Requested turndown service and was forgotten, but the staff made up for it by bringing up extra cookies. The restaurant in the hotel was decent, but it was more about pretentious presentation and high prices than quantity. My main course's portion was rather small. I expected to receive a vegetable with my meal but didn't. The staff throughout the hotel was very accommodating and kind. Considering everything the hotel offered, I believe you can find similar or better accommodations in 3.5 and 4 star hotels downtown at a better price.

I thought that the room was very small but clean, with a super comfortable bed and a nice, clean, and spacious bathroom. The best part of the hotel was the service. All staff were gracious and thoughtful; when I was stuck waiting for a very late shuttle to the airport, the staff at the reception desk called the company for me for updates and fetched an ice cold water for me, while the bellboys outside watched my bags and directed me inside where it was warm. Dinner at the Palace was exceptional, as was the service.

This is our second visit. We had some cleanliness concerns when we checked in, which was TOTALLY different from our previous visit. When we brought it to the attention of the manager, we were given an upgraded room instead, AND a $25 breakfast voucher! Things happen, and mistakes will occur, but the mark of a truly great business is when they make good on the mistake and ensure a fully satisfied customer. Customer service is a core value at this hotel, and we WILL be back!

We found this hotel to be charming, luxurious and well located. Just barely close enough to the riverside to walk it, although anyone with any kind of walking difficulties will probably want a cab. Every member of the staff has an intimate understanding of what customer service really means, and will go out of their way to ensure your stay is as perfect as possible. Rooms are larger than the average hotel, very quiet, and exude an extra feeling of luxury and convenience. We already have booked a return trip!

Great ambience. Room 601 is right above the exhaust fan for the hotel laundry, which makes it impossible to sleep. However, the staff, when informed, immediately moved us to room 602 (an inside room) and all was well. Slept like a rock. Would not hesitate to stay there again and would recommend to anyone. Close to the ballpark and several good restaurants.

Everything was outstanding except the drain on the shower was working properly. By the end of the shower I was standing in five to six inches of water. It was not pleasant for my friend who had so shower after me. It was a walk in shower (no tub) and at one point I was afraid the water was going to overflow. For whatever reason I didn't report it on the first day and give them an opportunity to fix it. My guess is they would have been attentive. It was that kind of place. Btw....a hotel of that caliber should have flat panels by now. Over all a very nice place to park a few days. There are a lot of nice restaurants with in a block or two.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely old hotel. The french doors overlooking the beautiful lobby and the large bathtub and marble surround were amenities that other hotels just don't have. THe hotel staff was very accomodating. There was an Internet connection in our room, though we did not bring a laptop on this trip. The restaurant served us a wonderful breakfast at a fair price. However, it would have been convenient to have a coffee maker in the room, like most other hotels, instead of having to get dressed to go down to the lobby for the hotel's complementary coffee. And the $28/day fee for valet parking was excessive.

This is obviously an older property that has been well maintained and updated. The inner great entry way is breathtaking from the ground floor and from the foliage lined internal balconies that rim it. The decor is tasteful and the music from the fine dining area resonates softly throughout the building. The staff was excellent, even bringing up my car keys after I forgot them at the front desk. Room service was cordial and prompt, with everything served at appropriate temperature. I cannot say enough good things about this establishment and I cannot wait to find a reason to stay there again.

The hotel is a bit out of date, but still holds a lot of charm. The staff was very helpful in getting us where we needed to be. The room was small, but clean. The bathroom door wasn't a normal door; you could see a hear a bit much, so ladies beware. Also, no fan in the bathroom. You're staying right downtown, so there were plenty of places to eat nearby during the day, but not much late at night besides a few night clubs. And the late night room service menu left much to be desired. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider going back. There was no pool, so if you have kids you may want to pick a different hotel.
