We stayed here for a couple of nights prior to a cruise, and loved the property as well as it's location. We could walk almost anywhere we wanted to go, from the theater, to the Rocks, Darling Harbor, and to the nearby train station. The neighborhood was quite safe, even for walking around at night. The hotel is old and tired, and my room had a faint odor. Other than that the room was clean. The staff was friendly but like the room they were "tired". The best part about this hotel is its location. It is located 20-30 steps from the Wynyard train station and 5 minutes walk from the Circular Quay.

I did not like the rooms, the shutters on the windows. Bed was uncomfortable and bathroom had only 2 bath towels for 2 nights. Amenities were minimal. Windows overlooked into an office block and you could not open 'shutters' at any time. Shutters on windows were terrible. 2 elevators were out and the hotel was full. Had to take fire stairs to get downstairs […] in a timely manner or be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes. Reception staff were not that friendly or helpful. Good thing was you are in a good area for walking everywhere and close to station...but most hotels in Sydney have this anyway. I read a lot of reviews about Travelodge Wynard before I came. I agree with the reviews that rated the staff favorably. Everything I asked for I got immediately. The front desk help was very friendly and helped me in any way possible. I thought the rooms were clean - the bathroom floors could have been cleaner. A hop skip and a jump away from the train, bus, etc. The one BIG improvement is their internet service. The costs were over the top; $6.00 an hour for hotel computers, which were VERY slow. $11.00 for 1/2 an hour to use your own computer in your room; $22.00 for an hour. Starbucks and McDonalds have cheaper computer service. I thought those costs were ridiculous. However, that is the only hotel I stayed in when I was in Australia, so I don't know if those computer costs are the norm. I would stay at this hotel again. Read more

We stayed in at the Travelodge for 3 nights while visiting Sydney. The room and amenities were as advertised. The location was excellent-- just two blocks from The Rocks and a short walk further to Circular Quay. There were also plenty of places to eat in the nearby area, including a Starbucks next door. We were in Sydney a few days early to catch a cruise. The Travelodge Wynyard is right across the street from the Wynyard railway station stop on the metro which gave us direct access from the airport. The railway station has 3 floors underground and contains food stands and a small grocery. We arrived in the early morning and there was a convenient […] luggage locker to hold our bags prior to check-in. The hotel is a 10-15 min walk to Circular Quay, the Opera house and Harbor Bridge. When it came time to catch our ship it was a short cab ride (or easy downhill walk to the pier). For the price (1/2 to 1/3 the cost of other CBD hotels) the Travelodge Wynyard can’t be beat. Hotel was very convenient to Wynyard Station - 1/2 block and the 2nd stop of the Hop-On Hop-Off tour - 1 street over. Hotel elevators took a while as they had some under repair. Room was clean. Could have given more detail to the bathroom floors and counter. Hotel staff very friendly.

Convenient location. We walked to The Rocks, Darling Harbor, QVB, CBD - everything mentioned in tourist guides. Our flight arrived at 6:30 AM, and we departed at 9:45 PM - so a nice surprise was a shower room to allow us to freshen up outside of normal check-in/check-out times.

Very nice location - just out of Wynyard station, 10 min from Darling harbor and circular quay. Only thing I didn't like was there was no free wifi and the only internet option was 11$ per hour which I thought is ridiculous and not worth it for only checking your mail

After booking the Travelodge in Sydney, I honestly did not know what to expect. The price was good, it appeared to be a nice hotel, and was in a good location. Still....I was skeptical. I was extremely pleased with the location. The hotel was within walking distance of most major attractions. It is located in the CBD, and is surrounded by wide variety of shopping and resturants. There is a major overhaul needed in the rooms. Our room was small, but we did have a queen size bed. Unfortunately, the carpet was old and dirty in the room, and the outer hallway. The carpet was two tone with darker colors and looked as if it may need a deep shampooing. After settling into the room I put on a pair of new white socks, and did not leave the room after a short white I noticed that the bottom of the new sock were unordinarily dirty for the short time I had been there. This uncleaniness was mentioned to the cleaning person who revaccum the room, but it was the carpet that needed replacing not just vaccuming again. There was a iron, and ironing board in the room that we used. The cover on the ironing board was dirty and had holes in it. When used on a pair of khaki pants it left imprints from the cover. Also, the room had ants. At first there was only a couple noticed on the dresser, and in the bathroom. On the third day the dresser was full of ants. This was too much to ignor. A hotel representative at the registration desk was notified, and a different was given immediately, and an offer to dry clean the damaged pants was given. The hotels attempt to offer solutions to the disappointments was appreciated. A larger room was given that had a balcony. This was nice, but the carpet in the room and hallway leading to the room was still old, and dirty; the new room was nine floors down. This tells me that the entire hotel needed to be recarpeted. The hotel is older but very comfortable. Marcos came to the curb down the street to help us with our luggage and store them for us. He also help us with airport shuttle. Neville is also very helpful and friendly. The maid on the 15 th floor is ver thorough. Overall we are very happy with our stay.

My wife and I were in Sydney for a week on the end of a 3 week New Zealand/Australia Vacation and chose this hotel for the location and price with a 4 star rating from hotels.com. While the hotel was fine, the 4 star rating is undeserved. First impression- We arrived very early in the day and did not expect to get into our room but went directly to […] the hotel to store our luggage until the room was ready. When we arrived we were not greeted out front and carried our own luggage into the lobby. We were met once we were inside and were able to store our luggage until later that day. The hotel staff were helpful and pleasant. The Room The room was on the 15th floor and the view was of another building accross the street. The windows were small and there was a large ledge to get to them so it wasnt easy to look down onto the street. Perhaps this was necessary for the integrity of the structure but didnt make sense. Not a big deal. The bed was comfortable, there was ample storage space, the tv worked fine, and the internet ($55 for the week) worked well. The main complaint was with the shower set-up which had neither form nor function. The shower was of the tub variety with a very low nozzle most likely because of the very low ceiling. The shower was not enclosable. There was a fixed glass slab that came out 1/3 of the way from the wall that the nozzle was on. Then there was a hinging glass door that went another 1/3 of the way when closed. This left the last half wide open. It was impossible to shower without allowing alot of water to spray out of the shower and onto the bathroom floor. I thought perhaps the other half had been broken off but there was no evidence that another half ever exhisted. This inconvenience did not ruin our trip and I did not mention it to the hotel because I assumed that every room had this "feature." Perhaps this is not the case and we were just unlucky.
