"Front desk manager very accommodating"
My first time traveling to Chicago. In town on business for trade show and the front desk manager was very accommodating and helpful in my requests. Menu selection at the bar/restaurant/grill downstairs could be improved. Many restaurants around, but be prepared to pay a lot of cab fare to get around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"grerat location to airport, smiling staff"
The hotel was fine, but the rooms smelled. I had to change rooms on arrival because the first smelled like a sour mop. The second room, which i stayed in was stale smelling. Witht the fan running all night it was barable. I kept that room becuse i was only there for the night. if it was a longer stay i would have changed again. The desk staff could […] not have been nicer or more accomadating. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
An older hotel with an updated outside, the interior could use a bit of work. The plastic cups in the bathroom were defective - thus causing water to spill all over the countertop. The location of the room was not good. Although on the 9th floor, it must have been located just above the restaurant. In the middle of the day, I smelled french fries in […] my room. In the morning, I smelled bacon. Location was not convenient for me, but it must have been a busy weekend for O'Hare area hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was nice to have a restaurant in the hotel. Clean and the rate was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Serious Need of an Overhaul"
The staff was friendly and efficient but the property needs a major refresh. Lounge chairs in the lobbyare ragged, carpet in the hallways is stained and well past its useful life. The room was comfortable and clean, but carpet and baseboards well worn. A colleagues TV remote did not work. When storing a bag at reception, a peek behind the front desk […] revealed a work room resembling an abused college dorm. The corporate folks at Holiday Inn need to demand a refresh or take back their brand license. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for what we needed"
The hotel is very close to the Blue "L". You have to go across a road, but a very easy walk, if you don't mind walking. Staff was great, no frills, but it was a place to sleep before an early flight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel...Great service!"
Clean, classy, convenient location, comfortable, catered to our needs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice, clean modern rooms with all the amenities. Exercise room had good, clean equipment for cardio and decent weight machine. Off the lobby, Bar Louie might make you stay down out of your room if you're spending the night. Walking from the CTA station was a bit of pain, but if you called the lobby they would send their shuttle I'm sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A good stay"
Room was clean, no stains on the carpet or bedding good service. The reservation did not match the Hotel. com information but we had the email confirmation with us and they changed it to match with out hesitation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Convienient Hotel"
Our Expedia deal included free breakfasts. First day was busy there with and asked about free breakfast and our server said no they didn't have that, so we ate and paid. Skipped eating there on second day because breakfast for two added up to $30 the day before. So, went on third day and waitress asked if we had a voucher for breakfast....went to front […] desk and asked and received voucher for the next 2 days. My fault probably for not asking at check in. Other than that, the hotel was clean and front desk staff very friendly and helpful.. Would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Didn't get the room I wanted"
Requested a non-smoking king through hotels.com and when I got there, there were none available except for a handicapped accessible room. All other kings were smoking rooms. The handicapped accessible room was just a little awkward for me, with the shower stream hitting me below the stomach, it was that low. Probably good for some people, but not for […] me, and I had requested that specific room well in advance, so that was a bit annoying. We made reservations two weeks in advance. Hotel was busy with conferences or something, so the lobby was always loud, staff was busy giving people directions to places (hello, phone, gps?) and I was generally dissatisfied with my stay. "One of my favorites"
Very reasonable price for the area and the city. It's right next to the Cumberland Station and the blue line giving you access anywhere you want. One of my favorites.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Airport"
Location is the reason I choose this hotel it is priced correctly and includes parking. Resturant is decent and breakfast though extra is very eleborate. Staff is always helpful and welcoming!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Expensive but good location. I'd stay here again. Beware parking is $25/night unless you are able to snag a street spot, just make sure you leave before 7am or put money in the meter. Also per friendly (for $50/night-ouch) which was a must for us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very hot and no working pool."
The pool was closed which we wanted to use. Difficult to get anywhere from the hotel using public transportation. No businesses and stores nearby.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff was very helpful and courteous. The restaurant was fine with simple and tasty food. I was in a workshop held in the hotel and was pleased with the amenities it had all I needed. I didn't want to go downtown and there was a train station across the road if I had wanted to.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel near O'Hare Airport"
I chose this hotel due to its walking proximity to the Blue Line Cumberland stop, two stops from O'Hare. I was barely at the hotel, but it did seem very nice and clean. Price is reasonable given location and surrounding hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Subway"
The room was ok, housekeeping left an empty beer bottle in the corner on the floor. They have 24 hour available transportation available so I called for their 30 min time frame and after 45 min we just started walking. They never came that I know of. Housekeeping cleaned our room, but only left 2 pairs of towels, even though they took out 4. I went […] down and asked for more and I was told they would bring more. They never came. One perk, I did have a friendly reception and they let me check in early! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A nice stay for a business traveler."
Very nice hotel. One of the things some people may not like is that they still offer smoking rooms to their customers. Personally, it doesn't bother me even though I don't smoke. The rooms are very clean, the bed was very comfortable. Overall, it was a great stay. Unfortunately, there were a couple of "problems" with my stay that were out of the hotel's […] control. DirecTV had a problem and the hotel lost several channels of their TV service and they had an internet router fail causing the wireless internet service to go out. They did get the wireless internet fixed before I checked out (only took them a few hours to fix), but the DirecTV problem was not fixed yet when I left. The high speed wireless internet at this location is excellent. The DirecTV service is just "ok" ... There's only about 30 channels that you have to choose from and they are all in analog signal, so the picture isn't the greatest. Overall, I'd recommend the hotel to others! I was really unhappy. I booked this specific hotel because your website said it had an outdoor pool. We got there and the pool was dry as a bone, like it not been filled since last summer. The room was perfectly fine, but I could not fully enjoy mussels because all I really wanted was to lay by the pool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Why stay at a mediocre hotel?"
Shuttle serviced from the airport is totally unreliable. Hotel is near public transportation, but otherwise pretty isolated.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not the best experience"
I was taking an early flight out of O'Hare so I looked for a hotel near the last few stops on the Blue Line. I arrived late, around 11. I had tried calling the hotel in the afternoon, but nobody picked up. The people at the front desk didn't seem especially happy to see me when I arrived either. They told me that they were out of non-smoking rooms. I […] was tired, so I grudgingly accepted a smoking room. The air inside in the room was not as bad as the air in the hallway, but it still managed to permeate my clothes with an odd smell. A couple of the lightbulbs were out. Next door was having an argument which unfortunately was audible through the (closed) connecting door. So I'm not too happy about how things went. If you book here, call early and often to make sure your needs are met. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The room and the bathroom were overall fine, some details could be improved though. The carpet had not been well cleaned everywhere, the ice holder had not been (properly) cleaned, no ice machine on my floor, ni shower gel in the bathroom, only one cup for the coffee machine, only two plastic glasses in the room (some more would just be better), no […] pen (if this is to save money and to offer lower room rates, this is totally fine, otherwise this was something paid for and not provided). The bed was nice and comfortable. The restaurant was fine. The surrounding area does not have much to offer. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Front Desk Lied to Us - NEVER Do That"
Official check-in time for the hotel was 3:00 PM, but we showed up a little early - just after 2:00 PM. When we got to the front desk, the lady lied to me and said "I'm sorry, but I have no rooms available until 3:00." They were "kind" enough to let us store our bags so we could go ahead and visit the city, but it wound up being a big inconvenience […] for nothing. NEVER quote the policy to customers when you know you've had clean rooms available since 10:00 AM that morning! I've shown up early to many hotels and never had a problem before this one. This is unacceptable - not sure who thought it was. When we did get to the room late that night, it was ok. The bed was superbly comfortable, but there were smudges on the sheets that showed that they hadn't been washed or cleanly fit. The chair in the room had a stain in the middle of it. The rest seemed clean. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"You've got to be kidding me!"
We reserved our room based on online reviews, price, and having a pool. The Holiday Inn uniform of the woman helping us was way too small and the Amy Winehouse makup was really unprofessional. Then she waited to be addressed before looking up from her computer. While checking in, a sign said the pool was out of service. Being my primary reason for selecting […] this hotel, I asked for how long and was rudely told "for as long as it takes." The settings for our room AC were either full blast or off. There was a sign in the parking lot saying vehicles must be registered at the front desk or be towed at owner expense. I went back to ask and he same woman from earlier told me in a condescending tone that it's only to scare away people trying to park there and I probably won't have to worry about it. The room had dust everywhere, the sheets were stained, and there even was tape holding parts of the window together. The layer of sticky grime on the back ledge of the shower made me sick. The complementary breakfast saved this from a 1-star rating. The food was excellent and the service was incredible and the atmosphere was relaxing. If not for the strict budget and having already paid, we would've left immediately. I will never stay at this hotel again and will probably never stay at another Holiday Inn anywhere else. "Holiday Inn on Cumberland"
Very nice hotel with restaurant and room service. The pool is out of service. Also, there is transport service to/from the airport. Note: There are three Holiday Inns in the area, so we got on the wrong bus the first day... Just make certain that the bus FROM the airport goes to the Holiday Inn where you are actually staying.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Pleased & Will Return to this hotel"
Spent 5 nights with no problems. Clean, comfortable, & as quiet as possible so close to airport, & GREAT water pressure in shower. Staff was friendly & hotel provided 24-hr shuttle to and from the Blue line station--technically "across the street," but not THAT easy to get to-especially w/children. Safe neighborhood, and hotel has restaurant/bar, which […] is good, since there is nothing within an easy walking distance. Very pleased and the food at Bar Louie there was very good. The front desk gentelman who took care of me and "checked me in" was very kind. I was told that I was a priorty member (I have used this hotel several times in the past and was very pleased) but there really isnt any information about what a "priority member" even is or what its about. "An okay hotel"
We picked this hotel because of the convenience to a train station into downtown Chicago- which did not disappoint. The train station was a five minute walk away (not one I would like to do alone, at night, FYI- but was sufficiently busy at 9pm on a Saturday night). The train was a short and convenient ride into downtown Chicago, with connections to […] just about every other line. We had asked the hotel staff about travel to Wrigley Field, and was instructed to take the train- however, we found out too late from other passengers that if we would have transferred to the bus, it would have cut our travel time (70 minutes) in half. I was disappointed the staff didn't know this, it's not like we were going to some obscure destination. The hotel itself was okay- the lobby and restaurant were nice- but our room was very dingy and damp. After the first night, I got the worst migraine- I suspect from our damp and old the room felt. There was a faint smell of mold. The room looked very old and in need of repairs- and this was the "Executive Suite." I would probably not stay here again. PS- I noticed a few people wrote about the airplanes flying overhead from the airport- I only noticed it when we were outside, the planes don't fly at night, so it didn't bother me at all. You could here them, but really wasn't that noticeable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not Pleased At All"
My family and I stayed one night at this hotel because it was close to the airport and we had an early flight the next morning. First, the hotel told me that Hotels.com requested a "smoking" room for me, which was not true. When I objected to the smoking room, I was told that my reservation was switched to a non-smoking room. However, when we arrived […] in the room, there were cigarette burns in the comforter! The room was very dark, the carpet looked dirty and the hotel really needs to be remodeled. It's better than I thought. The standard room has quiet a bit larger space. And also they have a free shuttle to airport. So, people who want to go to the airport early will satisfy their service.Genuine Expedia guest review
The Holiday Inn is located very close to the blue line, which is a 30ish minute ride into downtown Chicago. The blue line is open 24hrs which is great if you're going to be out late. The room was clean, on site restaurant was good, the staff were ok but could have been more helpful. I would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"1st visit good, 2nd time not so much"
this was my second time staying here for a business trip. the location near the airport is what made me choose this hotel in the first place. when i stayed last year everything was great. i would have recommended it to anyone. however this time i was disappointed. the shuttle bus from the airport never arrived to bring me to the hotel, or if it did, […] it was over an hour late and i had to get another ride in order to make it to my work on time. the room was not clean -- there was hair in the bathrroom. maybe i did not notice this the first time, but there were not many channels on the tv. overall, i did not feel as comfortable there as i did on my first stay. since i go to chicago a lot for work, i will probably try a different hotel next time. I would have rated this as a perfect experience had the roofing contractors not started using their power equipment at 7:00 AM in the morning. "Awful, awful, awful."
I should have known I was in for a bad experience when I tried to board the shuttle bus at the hotel and the driver of the (empty) bus gave me a hard time for not calling ahead. Excuse me for thinking that a hotel named HOLIDAY INN O'HARE wouldn't have a problem picking up and dropping off customers to and from O'Hare International without advanced […] notice. Then I and my fellow shuttle bus travelers (who all received the same treatment from the driver) were greeted by exactly one person at reception. You'd think a hotel with a shuttle from the airport would have more than one person available to check a busload of people in. But whatever, just get me to my room. I go into my room, and I go to turn on the bedside lamp. It doesn't work. I go to turn on the other one. That one works, but the lampshade is bent and torn. Very attractive. I flop on the bed and go to turn on the TV. The remote doesn't work. So I go to turn the TV on by hand (how very 1979). Just static. Change every channel. Static static static. Fine. I go to the bathroom to get ready for bed. The toilet doesn't flush. The water just swirls around. Argh. Whatever, I just need to sleep. I go to shut the curtains to block out the light from the third-largest city in the country. The curtains don't close. There's the thin, gauzy curtain covering the window, but the thick black-out curtains don't extend the whole way. Needless to say, it's the last time I'll stay at a Holiday Inn.
