I am usually one to extend some generous courtesies and general understandings to situations. However, this stay was extremely disappointing. We were supposed to have a suite; we were given a standard room for the suite price. We were supposed to be in the tower for a quiet stay; we were on the THIRD FLOOR of the tower next to the street noise. We were […] charged $26 for valet parking; there are no other options for parking here...this is typically not an additional charge when you're looking to park your car. We paid the $14 for the wi-fi access, when this is something which comes standard at nearly all other hotels. The towels were anything BUT soft; same goes for the robes....the fabric was very rough and uncomfortable. Not only will I never stay at this hotel again, I will never stay at ANY Fairmont Hotel, nor will I ever recommend anyone I know to stay at this hotel. In fact, my stay was so unpleasant, I will go out of my way to tell anyone I know to stay ANYWHERE ELSE other than a Fairmont Hotel. The staff was friendly; the hotel was clean; the room was aesthetically pleasant. None of those items comes close to making up for how unpleasant of a stay I had here. NEVER AGAIN. "Zero customer service -- STAY AWAY"
Very poor customer service. I do not need much, but this hotel failed that low standard. At every juncture, I could not get assistance. Bell desk: would neither pickup the phone nor help me when I checked in. I had to carry a large amount of luggage on my own -- which was very taxing since the rooms are located in an entirely disinct facility from […] the lobby, separated by an open air public area (yes, you and your luggage will be rained on heavily). Valet: no pickup of the phone and an excrutiatingly long wait to pickup my car. Front desk: NEVER picked up the phone, whether for checkout or for even requesting a wake up call. When I checked out, the front desk clerks would not interrupt their chatting with each other to help me -- I almost missed my flight because of their inexcusable refusal to help me. I am a business traveler. I travel a lot, spend a tremendous amount of time in hotels, and spend even more money with those hotels. We really enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. Our room was very clean and beautiful and the staff members were very pleasant. Trying to get a hold of the front desk was agonizing. Multiple times I was either put on hold for at least five minutes or the phone just rang infinitely. However, I was very pleased with the size of our room (King, 4th floor, non-smoking), and its many comforts (separate vanity area). The price of the room couldn't be beat through Hotels.com. It's close to the airport and Christmas In The Park. We wanted to treat our daughter to a comfortable bed after being overseas for the last year and couldn't pass up the price offered. The parking garage in the Fairmont Plaza is your best bet for parking. The entrance is off to the side of the hotel and is manned 24/7, making it a secure place to park. There aren't in and out privileges, but the convience is worth it. We requested assistance with our luggage and they didn't complain about the heavy bags or having to wait for one of our group to bring the car around. "Stayed one night for a concert"
The hotel is beautiful! There was no parking at the hotel so we parked in the lot. It would be nice if they offered free parking for guests. We had a room with 2 double beds. "Luxury hotel does not guarantee gourmet experience"
Our experience was very disappointing. In our opinion, the front desk staff was rude and not helpful. We were in San Jose on business, and even though we were president club members, it took us more than 2 hours to get the internet access sorted. There was no business center, it was a Kinkos. There was no facility to work and we were told to sit in […] the lobby to work as our room was not ready! They took our luggage at arrival before noon, but did not deliver it to our room until well after 10 pm, and we had to call down more than 4 times for it to be brought up--why 4 times, because twice we were put on hold for so long the phone system disconnected the call. The room service charged 22% tip automatically, but we were told that most guest add an additional tip because the 22% is unfairly divided among the room service staff. UNCOMFORTABLE! Every time we turned around, staff had a hand out for money. On the day of our checkout, we were notified that the hotel charged daily for parking. When questioned, we told the rates were 50% more than the city for the convenience to retrieve the car several times a day without dealing with a payment booth! I have not paid for internet or parking at a hotel until this trip. I am so very disappointed with this hotel and their staff. I overpaid, and would never stay there again. The Fairmont San Jose is in a very nice location in downtown. They were setting up Christmas displays in the park area across on Market and the ice rink nearby. I tried to give our 2yr old a bath but, our bathtub broke at 10pm. They didn't send anyone to fix it until around 10:40pm. The water was running that entire time. "The Good, the Bad and the UnFairmontable!"
Well, let's start with the location, which is downtown, but in an area clearly needing some re-gentrification. The room was clean, bit needs some TLC. We asked for foam pillows which were the lumpiest, chunkier pillows I have ever seen! Unusable! Our first night we had great room service, but it was all downhill from there. My daughter was ill, so we […] ordered room service for most meals. We still had dinner plates when breakfast was delivered the next day. We left the room for several hours thinking housekeeping would come and clean, but we were mistaken. No room clean up, and dinner and breakfast plates still in our room. When I called to complain. I asked to speak to the Manager on Duty. The operator passed me on to his voicemail, which stated he was "out of town till Tuesday" ( it was Saturday.) I could go on, because there is more (waiting for over 20 minutes for our car from the valet, at least 3 meals of dishes stacked in our room, not picked up until I called over 5 times, orders for room service messed up, etc.) but you get the idea. On October 23, @approx 9:45am I left one large purple suitcase with "Felix" at the Skycap storage to hold for a few hours. I conducted some business at the Convention Center and returned around 1:15pm Felix returned my suitcase and left the hotel. Upon arriving home, I unpacked and noticed that a small black bag with some jewelry was missing. I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. While the location is great, I was charged extra for everything. 1. Parking- they call it "valet" parking and charge you $26 per night. When I arrived, no one offered to help me with my bags and the valets ignored me. It was only after I checked in and returned to the valet desk that they took my car. Additionally, […] I was never told to pick up my car in the parking garage, so I went back to the valet stand out front and waited for 5 minutes, only to learn that I had to back inside to take the elevator down to the parking structure. Don't call it valet if you refuse to bring me my car where I dropped it off! I also had to wait at least 10 minutes for them to retrieve my car 2. Internet- I''ve paid for WIFI at some hotels, but usually you can plug in the internet modem for free. Not here. When I plugged in the modem, it wouldn't connect, so I was forced to pay $13.85 per day for WIFI. 3. Business Services. I had two large boxes shipped to the hotel. Having never stayed here before, I was unaware they had a FedEdx office attached. This is where I was told to pickup my packages. Not only did this take more time than usual, I was also charged $35 for picking up the packages at FedEx!! Lastly, I found some of the staff less than friendly (especially the staff member working the to-go breakfast in the lobby bar). As nice as the hotel rooms were, I would not stay here again.
