Hotel was good but BED was sagging in the middle and there was a plastic sheet under the bed sheet ???????????????.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Clean comfortable. Lots of rooms are completely in the interior of the warehouse building so be sure to ask for a room with a view if you want one. Being New Orleans near the Quarter loud people late night may be the norm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap hotel in nice place"
Customer service was good. Our room had a water leak in the floor and the wood was rotting out. We told them about this but nobody seemed to care. The breakfast ended before the day even started. Parking is $39 a day and there is no place close by that is free. The room was decorated nicely but the shower handle fail off and the hair dryer quit working. […] The maids start cleaning at 8 am and are very loud. Slamming doors and making a lot of noise. Our room had a window which was right next to the door and the bar was opening until 3am. I am pretty sure somebody got shot in the alley while we were there while racing motorcycles. The hotel is pretty old but it is cheap. If you are looking to stay downtown New Orleans on a budget it is a good hotel but not that great of a place in general. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is nice enough, and the room was actually really cute. The problem was that there wasn't a single window (unless you count the French door that led into the room from the hallway?). Location was not bad, and the staff was friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I made last minute reservation based on location, price and reviews. My room was big, beautiful and clean. The bar nextdoor was fun, we walked everywhere, so it was a great meeting spot. Thank you!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

My boyfriend and I went to New Orleans for 2 metal shows. We had got this hotel online at the very last minute because of how cheap and affordable the price was. We arrived a little bit before check out time. Got there around 3:20. We knew that check in time was 4:00. They were extremely nice about it so they let us fill out some info a little early […] and hold all of our bags until 4:00, got to go drink and chill at the bar next door. They didn't have the room I reserved online, but they upgraded us to a really nice two queen size beds, with no extra charge. (It was super convenient in the long run since one of my boyfriend's friends from Hammond ended up using the extra bed anyways.) The location was perfect for my boyfriend and I. It was walking distance from everything! The only thing that we were annoyed about was the 2nd day we were there, we stayed had stayed up till 5 in the morning so we slept all day and stayed in our room until 6 and they kept knocking on the door for room service. There were no "Do not disturb" signs anywhere. The rooms were clean and we loved how old the building was. It sucked because there's no mini fridge or microwave, but I notice that a lot of hotels in NOLA don't have one in any hotels. It would be convenient if they did though just cause we brought leftover food to the room. On the last day of our stay it randomly smelled like gasoline on our floor which was odd. But we both loved it and I would probably stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Strange mix of nice and run-down"
No hot water in the sink faucet and a bed with a serious hole in the middle made for an unpleasant night stay. This hotel seemed well appointed but its fixtures and furniture need a bit of updating or replacement. This hotel certainly under-performed its lofty price and expectations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location,charming exposed brick walls"
It was a great location a few blocks from the river walk, French Quarter and trolley lines. We had exposed brick walls in our room, very charming! The floors slanted downward and things rolled off of the counter in the bathroom, it is obviously an old hotel. Service was a little inconsistent at front desk, wake up calls came through only about 60% of […] the time. House keeping did a great job and were very accommodating. Breakfast buffet was good. All in all we loved it and would stay there again when we return to New Orleans! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't believe the info"
No brickwalls, no windows, no Wifi included, no breakfast included. They'll charge you ten bucks a day for Wifi, (VERY bad) breakfast and "security" (whatever that means??). Lousy roomcleaning, no fresh towels, keycard needed recoding (3 times in 4 days). Close to conventioncenter but a lot of better options are available close by. I wont stay there […] again. "Easy walk to the French Quarter and the Riverfront"
Stayed on a Jazz Fest Sat. night, had easy parking across from hotel in the convenient pay-lot, left the warm sticky humidity of the city and walked into a nice cool lobby- ahhh. The check in was easy and the clerk was friendly. After checking in and finding our room, we wanted to get out and feel the night air on our faces. The bar downstairs had cold […] drinks and brew, and the crowd was nice, so my friends and I grabbed a cold one to sit outside at one of the sidewalk tables and sip. "great location. Close to casino and Bourbon Street"
I loved it. Room was very clean and nicely decorated. Hotel had a very Louisiana feel to it and I felt very safe. There was a person at the counter at all times as well as a person at valet service. "close to all must-see sights"
I arrived in New Orleans a day earlier than the rest of my party so I booked a hotel room for one night. The hotel was lovely and the staff was wonderful. It was close to the water, Canal Street, tons of restaurants and shopping. The continental breakfast was severely lacking but New Orleans is full of such amazing food that it wasn't a problem.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The only complaint I have is the noise. People talking in the halls sounded like they were in your room. Other than that..it was nice to be so close to everything without being right in the quarter. I loved being so close to the water. Everyone was so nice. I can't wait to go backGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Parking is the one concern"
The hotel staff is friendly, rooms are nice, and the location is great - within walking distance of the French Quarter. Minor concern: hard pillows. Medium concern: parking is $32 per night and it must be valet service - a bit inconvenient and costly. But we would recommend this place to friends who want to explore downtown New Orleans by foot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
great front desk employees bellman were friendly and very prompt room clean and comfortable overall- would recommend it highlyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was very disappointed in this hotel. To begin with the magnetic key machine was broken so an employee had to let us into our room every time (which wast inconvinient and unsetteling since they didn't check IDs while doing this), second they put us in a room that someones things were already in (then assured us they knew where every guest was staying […] so they wouldn't let the wrong people in the wrong room), third the rooms were tiny and there were exposed pipes running across the ceiling and through holes in the walls, the floors were dirty and the water stunk. Although the staff was pleasant I think the hotel could have done much better accomidating the guest when there were so many inconvienences. And last but not least the continental breakfast that your forced to pay for is stale and that's assuming you can get down to the lobby before 9am. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Room wasn't clean, saw a roach when I first walked in, and weird pipes made weird noises all night. On the plus side it is in a good location and lady at the front desk was nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for a night or two"
The Ambassador is an old-style New Orleans hotel in a great location. The service couldn't have been better - but the rooms were another issue. The hotel is within walking distance of downtown, aquarium, Harrahs, close to the cruise terminal and the French Quarter is about a 5-7 min walk. We loved the old-world ambience. Nice bar but pricey! Our room […] unfortunatey was on the street level - actually facing the street. There was an air duct running through our room so a constant loud humming all night long and the people next door had two dogs! Had we been there more than 1 night we would have asked to change rooms, but for the 1 night we were there it was fine. The Sheraton, Loews and W were all within walking distance. Will probably stay at one of those next time, but wanted the "old" New Orleans feel for our first time there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall, our stay was nice. The check in service when we got into town around 9pm was very slow- there was only one person working the desk, which also handles requests from guests who are already checked in. The poor lady kept having to leave the desk in between check ins to grab extra sheets and towels, etc for other guests. The rooms are very nice, […] with wood floors, comfortable bedding, and a very well working thermostat, and most of all, extremely spacious compared to some others I've stayed in. However, the bathroom was tiny and could have used some updating. The location was great for walking to the French Quarter without actually having to stay inside the Quarter with all it's hustle and bustle. Tchopitoulas St. was mostly quiet for the length of our stay. I would return to this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"An OK place"
Hotel lobby had a nice New Orleans antique feel. Had to wait a long line to check in, seemed short staffed. The phone was ringing a lot for maintenance requests, and unfortunately we had to call too for a toilet that didn't drain. The adjoining restaurant/bar was horrible; drinks were not made right at all and were overpriced. My daughter wanted a cheese […] pizza, which wasn't on the pompous menu but they were willing to make...she took one bite and threw the rest away...if they can't make a pizza...? It was walking distance to the aquarium which was convenient. But I wouldn't walk around the hotel at night. Parking was something not mentioned; $32 valet a day, or you can self park across the street in an unmonitored lot for $30 a day. Room was tiny with no windows leading outside and the furniture was broken. Don't go if you don't like tight spaces. I rated it 3 stars because the staff were extremely friendly and the price was low compared to the area, just the room and bar was blah. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We have stayed here many times. This was the first time we had a bad room. Room had no windows to the outside. Only window was to the hallway where the light was shinning into the room day and night so we could not sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It ended well, but had a rocky start. The first room was located next a room being fully renovated. They start work around 7am. We were not told ahead of time about this so it was an unpleasant first morning. The bed in the room was on a frame that was not connected to the headboard. We had to put something under the feet of the frame so it would stay […] up near the headboard. We were moved to another room upon request and the remainder of the stay was very, very nice. "Walls are Thin!"
The overall look and appeal of this hotel is just blah! The bed was very creaky along with the hardwood floors. I could literally hear the entire conversation clearly (again they weren't talking loudly). I had to leave the television […] on all night to block out the sounds. We booked this room for two nights after returning from a cruise (with the kids) to check out New Orleans. The location is excellent. 3 block walk to the French Quarter, river walk, aquarium, casino, etc. I didn't want to drive anywhere and didn't have to. Cool old building with character. "No early check-in"
You get what you pay for with the Ambassador. It's very convenient to the convention center and the French Quarter, but the hotel is definitely showing it's age. The bathroom was clean, but the tiles grout was old and dirty. My main complaint is that the hotel did not allow for early check-in. I arrived at 1pm (check-in is at 4pm), and they wouldn't […] allow me to get into my room. This was inconvenient as I had to change (for my presentation at the convention center) in the hotel bathroom. I travel very frequently for work, and I have not been to a hotel in years that doesn't allow early check-in. It's just silly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quieter than the other hotels"
Booked this a few months back for Wrestlemania. Normally, the rooms are around $100. With taxes, fees and parking it was upwards of $380. The hotel is average. It's an old building, and the room had a terrible view of a back alley and 0 sunlight. I called a week prior to our arrival because I would be driving about 7 hours the day of Wrestlemania and […] wanted to check in 2 hours before normal check-in time. I was told that would be fine. When I arrived, the room was not ready and they had no record of my conversation with the person that took my request the week before. The restaurant was decent, and had some food and drinks while we waited. Overpriced like every other hotel bar. The front desk seemed hectic, but one of the employees helped me out immensely when she got us a room about 45 mins prior to check in. Overall, it was feasible for our short trip. The price was outrageous, and the bed was not very comfortable. It was clean and quiet. "Ok" is the perfect description of my experience of The Ambassador. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Luck of the draw...."
Here's the deal... Hotel staff is very nice and helpful, but when you book call and see if you can get a room with a window. Our room was very basic and had no windows. "GREAT location, really cool place."
Came to New Orleans for my son's college baseball game. Needed a nice (but affordable) hotel in safe area for me and 2 12 year old girls. Found this place in one of the "mystery" Expedia deals offering a "3 star boutique hotel in the Warehouse District" for a heavily discounted price. I went for it, and I am so happy I did! GREAT location just a block […] from Mother's (restaurant) and a couple blocks from the Aquarium, casino and other riverfront attractions--as well as Convention Center, office buildings, Saks, etc. Hotel was quiet, staff was friendly, room was clean and comfortable. It is close enough to walk to Bourbon St. if that's what you want to do (approx 0.6 miles), but far enough that you don't have to be overwhelm by the stench of it either. Stay at the Ambassador Hotel was satisfactory. The rate was relatively inexpensive for the location, which is walking distance to most places, including Jackson Square, Bourbon St., Canal St., and the Sheraton Hotel where my conference was located. Rooms were clean, although any noises from adjacent rooms and the hallway were clearly heard and the hardwood […] floors were squeaky. "Great location for CBD and French Quarter"
It is an old building with a modern hotel built into it. There are always people hanging out in front of the hotel which makes it interesting. Pay parking is across the street. The hotel bar/restaurant was ok but kind of confusing as I wasn't greeted. It smelled like a bar but that could just be New Orleans.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The pictures are very out dated. Hotel was not at all clean. 24 hour fitness nowhere to be found. With the exception of the bellman, service consisted of one excuse after another. Housekeeping was a bad joke. Hotel smelled of massive amounts of flowery air fresheners and mildew. "Asked for a different room"
This was our second stay at Ambassador, our first experience in 2009 was amazing and that is why we chose to stay there again. Unfortunately this stay was anything but amazing. Our room was small and loud, we could hear everything from the floor above. The next morning we asked if we could be moved into another room, and made arrangements at the front […] desk, we were told to pick up the new room key later that day. After returning from a planned event later that evening we went to the fornt desk and were told no room changes were made? I explained that we had made arrangements with the desk clerk that morning? The new clerk said she was sorry, but the hotel was full and no rooms were available. I told her to check the room number we had been promissed, and she said someone else was in the room. I was extremily dissappointed in the service this time around and given the fact that we had made arrangements to change rooms and it didn't happen, we won't go back to the Ambassador. There was trash in the room. The continental breakfast was sub-par and there was no salt and pepper. I approached two different staff members and asked if I could get some pepper.
