View from room is awesome. We looked at the white sand and blue gulf for hours, we even saw some dolphins. Also we walked up the beach to the pier and restraunts several times. the sand is very white and hardly any seaweed. It's the best beach in Florida.

During our stay, the hotel was undergoing a major renovation, which we knew ahead of time (thus, the reason for the "3" rating). The lobby, bar and restaurant area in the main building were being worked on. Upon our arrival we hoped to have a cocktail in the bar, but instead were served a cocktail in the breakfast area. The drinks were not good; I had […] an Emerald Cooler that tastes like syrupy Koolaid. Specialty drink menu needs updating. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay. Thomas at front desk upgraded our room so that we had a view of the ocean. Our room was in a building not affected by the construction, so we had peaceful sleep. Our room and bedsheets were very clean and smelled good. I loved the free movies on DVD from the Redbox-like kiosk in the lobby. Our room was very nicely appointed with a fridge, microwave, safe, free WIFI, dvd player, cable, very comfortable bed. I don't believe our room had undergone any renovation, but it was still very nice. The pool below our room was empty (for renovation? maintenance?), but we had an incredible view of the beach, and a nice patio to sit on to enjoy morning coffee. One day we walked on the beach, from the boardwalk attached to the hotel, very convenient. GORGEOUS! Lobby had fresh coffee each morning. And The Waffle House was nearby for breakfast, and Destin was 5-10 minutes away for lunch and dinner. Loved our stay! I would definitely stay here again! Read more

We love this hotel, but it is under remodeling now so has some areas not as pretty as normal. We had a problem with our room safe but the management and housekeeping worked hard to correct the problem.

The ocean view is definitely worth the extra money, so go with this if available. You get a free umbrella and chair set-up for two on the beach when you book your room here. Also, free unlimited DVD rentals by the lobby for your room as well. The staff is great. The location is perfect too!

For a Holiday Inn, it's not bad. The rooms are a decent size and the beds are comfortable. I will say the that the Internet was spotty however and this is the third time I've stayed there in 2 months. I would go back again however.

This hotel has a couple of great things going for it. Its proximity to the beach, the fact that it’s not in Destin (avoid crowds) and two great pools. The restaurant, lobby and tikki bar were all tiny. Since the tikki bar was tucked in a space between two of the hotel buildings, there were only a handful of stools and no view of the beach. It's a large hotel but we stayed in the main building with the front desk. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. We stayed in the double bed Gulf facing room which was fine but nothing fancy. The hotel I suspect is older and has been heavily used especially during spring break and many years of sea air, with that said it's in pretty good […] shape. We had a beautiful oceanfront room. They could really invest in some sound proofing though as we could hear every little whisper in the hallway and the baseball players in the room above us were having their own unofficial WWE wrestling match. The housekeepers did not come unless they were called which I was not happy about, the pregnant woman working […] the front desk had a bit of an attitude as did the manager til she realized I was a platinum customer ( I am a bit young looking). Hotel was old. The water failed in my building. I was able to arrange being moved to a different building but didn't really appreciate having to coax it out of the desk worker. The solution should have been offered to me upon management becoming aware of the inconvenience rather than me having to present the solution. Also, after the first night, we […] left the room for errands at 8:00 am and came back at 3:30 pm. The room was still not cleaned. I didn't have the do not disturb sign on the door. The front desk worker gave the excuse that that's (do not disturb sign) probably why we were missed. She also was "talking over" me as I tried to talk to her. Not appreciated. We had to wait for the housekeepers to come clean it after we called to complain. This is probably a staffing issue. The management is probably trying to employ the least amount of housekeepers possible. I got the impression that my comfort is secondary to their profit margin. WE WENT TO STAY AT BEACH AT THE END OF NOV. WE WERE RIGHT ON THE BEACH AND BALCONY OVERLOOKED THE OCEAN AS WELL. THE HOTEL IS OLDER BUT THEY WERE DOING UPGRADES. THERE WAS A HEATED POOL OUTDOORS AND A HOT TUB.WOULD CONSIDER GOING AGAIN.

The room was outdated from at least 20 years ago. You could hear every sound from anyone coming from the elevator which was right outside our door. We stayed here after changing our plans due to Hurricane Irene. Overall, the facility was OK. We had a 1st room floor which was actually fine since my wife has some problems with her legs. Room was somewhat small but passable. Ice machine was outside our room so we did get to hear when it was being used. We really enjoyed our stay here. I loved having the stand up shower and the bath with shower in the bathroom. Having a safe in the room was a bonus.
