There are cafes and shops nearby handy for breakfast or a snack. Staff pleasant- girl ordered us a taxi bus when we were leaving.

The travelodge is right on the 101 about 5 mins from the bridge and a short walk to the fishermans warf area. I found it a great place for the money - even the reception staff were amazed at how much I had paid for the room using Hotels.com........ It's a no frills budget place but big clean rooms in the middle of San Francisco are often at a premium, this one wasn't. if you want somewhere cheap, clean and easily acessable with out paying tourist rates then this place is great.

I will not recommend this hotel to anyone, because you can hear everything going on from the rooms next to you and upstairs from you - and I mean everthing. In the middle of the night we could hear the nabour having fun and early in the morning we could hear the people in the room upstairs having sex. NOT NICE... The hotel and the rooms where nice, but I will never stay there again because of the much noice from the other rooms. If you deside to stay make sure you get a room upstairs, because then you can't hear the upstairs room walking around all the time. But notice that you will be driving the room downstairs from you crazy.

Also, "the world's windiest street" is located on the same street just a couple blocks away.It was very convienent. The room was clean, kind of bummed about the lack of a bath tub and the very small shower. All in all we would stay there again.

I am sorry that you felt the parking charge was less than reasonable. The website clearly states that we have a fee for parking. Our fee for parking is much less than some of the other hotels in San Francisco and with our location; some would say it’s a bargain. We have 2 underground parking garages, which most guests don't realize until asking, so we have plenty of spaces for all our guests. out of value="10"I would like to thank you for taking the time to review our property. This review is very helpful to any guests bringing pets to our hotel. We ask that all guests inform us if there will be a dog in the room, before or during check in. We do this as a precaution, because many people are allergic to dogs. We have 6 rooms that we allow dogs in, the rest are "pet free." To protect any guests that may have allergies, we like to keep our pet owners in the pet friendly rooms. During check in, we have all our guests fill out a registration card. The registration card states the following: "Guests who smoke or allow smoking in the room will be charged a $100.00 cleaning fee. Guests who bring an animal into a non-pet room will be charged a $100.00 cleaning fee. I agree to these terms. Initials ____________ " We are very inviting of guests who have dogs. We just ask that you inform us, so we can place you in the correct room type. It is a very simple request that could prevent unnecessary problems for other guests later on.

The Travel Lodge is a small motel close to Van Ness Avenue and Lombard Street. If you like to explore San Francisco by public transportation this location is almost ideal. Surrounded by some bars and smaller restaurants for food needs. You can use the bus (one block away) if your destination is Fishermans Wharf or Coit Tower as well as Bay bridge area. Four blocks if you like to go to the Golden Gate Bridge and Presido area by bus and about four blocks to the closest cable car station (up hill) - this brings you to Coit Tower, China Town and Downtown... Simply leave the car parked and explore San Francisco in a stress less way. No tickets and no stress finding a legal parking spot... Also great if you decide to use the car for your San Francisco trip for twin hills, 49 mile drive, Napa Valley, Muir Woods, Sausalito, Silicon Valley and other locations best reached via Golden Gate Bridge or going South. Cab ride from the SFO airport is about $38 to $40.

Watch out for the extra charge for parking. But that gives you a Guaranteed space in a neighborhood where you'd never find street parking. The young man at the desk told me that if the main lot was full, just park in front and drop off the keys and they'd park my car in one of the lots they share with local businesses. My mom and I were both pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and over all quality of our rooms. And the staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. A very positive experience.
