We arrived at the hotel to a rude front desk person who also informed us that internet would be more than 16 per person per day. The internet was so slow that it couldn't even download media and it shut of dozens of times. The rooms were noisy enough to prevent sleep and the shower had such low pressure it was more like a squirt gun than a shower head. […] Our door keys stopped working, not once, twice, three, no 5 times in a 24 hour stay. There were two redeeming qualities to this hotel; 1) The American Guy who worked the front desk at night was very nice, 2) They give free Mentos at the front desk. The Park Regis is located in the CBD, which makes it a great location. Town Hall station is just down the street so it makes it easy to get around the city or to the airport. The hotel is pretty easy to find. I wasn't expecting a very small lobby or that it is located in the same building with apartments. There are different elevators to reach the hotel […] rooms. You need an access pass key to access the hotel floors. Once reaching my floor, the first thing I noticed was the narrow hallway. Doors didn't have peep holes either. I thought all hotel doors had them. My room didn't face the main street so outside noise wasn't an issue. However, the walls must be kind of thin because I can hear when my neighbor was about to shower by the sound of the shower curtain closing. The bathroom was very small with virtually no countertop space. Hot water (pressure) must be an issue because they have a placard to tell you to turn on the hot water first. This activated a mini hot water heater below the sink. Again, very small bathroom. You need to close the door to gain access to the hand sink. Hand soap, lotion, shaving cream, shampoo, etc were all in hand dispensers, which was kind of tacky. Best thing about the room was the comfy bed and the wide assortment of cable channels. The a/c switch by the bed didn't turn on the a/c but the heater (probably because it was the winter). I still wouldn't mind having cool air in the room though. Read more

The hotel staff was extremely friendly when we arrived and very helpful in getting us oriented. The apartment itself was spacious and clean but the furniture, carpets, etc was quite dated and does need some upgrades. Key feature of this hotel is its location. From hotel, can take a really enjoyable walk through Hyde Park, then the Botanical Gardens all the way to the famous Opera House and The Rocks. The hotel is mediocre at best, do not pay full price. If you are expecting anything higher than 3 stars, you will be disappointed, as it's probably 2.5 stars at best. The bathrooms are tiny, dispensors are on the wall for all soaps, and the shower is built into the floor with a surround curtain. The power in the room was very surge-prone, and if you had too many things charging at once, you can make all the lights in your room turn off due to an overload. I only had a laptop, cell phone, and camera plugged in and this happened. You cannot drive up to the front of the hotel other than for a quick second, as there is a bus lane right in front of it. The parking is super pricey, and there is no hourly parking available. I was only staying here due to the convenient downtown location and cheap rates for 3 nights. This hotel has nothing going for it. No lobby--just a small desk area. My room was an upgrade--it was tiny and shabby. However, the sheets and towels were nice and clean. I can't speak for all the rooms, but our room was in desperate need of renovation. The furniture was worn and there were visible tears in the chairs. The bathroom was in bad condition due to hard water and rust. Our shower had an old window inconveniently place in the shower and a large rusty soap dish jutting out into middle of the space which made […] showering a tricky exercise. I didn't mind the noise and sound of the late night construction in the neighborhood - that's the price you pay for such a central location, but I did expect the room to be comfortable and in good condition. Express Room stayed in first visit which was too noisy due to street. Upgraded to Premier Room at an additional cost on check in this stay, although quieter still not completely quiet. This hotel proves that you get what you pay for. Poorly maintained and clearly unloved, the rooms are tiny - we refused to stay in the first one we were allocated as the double bed (which was supposed to be a queen) was shoved into a corner against the wall. The second was a little better but was still poky and noisy. There is no double-glazing so all […] the sounds of the city (sirens, drunks arguing in the park...) drift up into the room to keep you awake half the night. There was a control for the air conditioning but turning it on made no discernable difference to the air temperature. The building in general is poorly maintained and has a grubby feel to it. The hotel is bang in the middle of busy intersections therefore rooms are very noisy. The hotel would benefit from double glazing. Room 707 is very noisy. Sirens, buses, etc can be heard even with earplugs! I was not happy.

Great location - easy 20-30min walk to Darling Harbour, Bridge, Opera House and Ferries. Lots of places to eat nearby and shopping. If you are taking the train from the airport it is only a 2 min walk from Town Hall station! Reception staff (all of them) were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. As with most city hotels there is a lot of traffic noise - the cars were ok but the motorbikes and sirens were noisy - have to expect this though - I brought ear plugs just in case. Rooftop pool unfortunately was freezing cold and although the weather was really warm we did not use it (did not see anyone else use it either) which was a shame. The outside area is not as big as it looks in the photos BUT there are a few chairs and a couple of bench tables and chairs but the views are amazing & well worth a look both during the day and at night.
