The Morrison House is a treasure. The staff is welcoming, from the moment you arrive at the property to the last minute rush for your waiting cab. We had a really nice stay in this hotel. The staff went out of their way to see that we had a wonderful experience here. The decor is elegant, the beds very comfortable,and the public rooms were beautiful and a great place to kick back after a busy day in DC. There are many historical places to visit in Alexandria, great places to eat and it is wonderful […] to get away from the busyness of DC but it's only a short drive or Metro ride to get to the mall area.There is a nightly wine reception and coffee is provided in the lounge in the morning. We have stayed at several very nice hotels in the area but this is now our favorite and we plan to return often. Read more

This is an elegant small hotel in the heart of old town Alexandria. Rooms are on the small side but well appointed. Service is excellent and the staff are helpful and friendly. A broad range of local shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance yet the hotel itself is peaceful and quiet. I would definitely stay here again!

I needed a refuge from the hurricane. I chose this hotel on advice of an acquaintance. The hotel was wonderful, small, charming, a safe haven, friendliest and most helpful staff I have ever encountered!! I would love to stay there again.

The hotel was excellently situated just off of King Street (on Alfred) in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, and was surprisingly quiet. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating from opening the doors, to bringing coffee to us while we waited in the library, to pouring wine for us during the free wine hour. We did eat dinner in the restaurant and […] were pleased with our meal and the wait staff's catering to us; the price was comparable to the venue. Our room was clean and had a nice view, but there were a couple of issues: when the air unit came on if was very loud. It should either be fixed or replaced. Also, the shower head needs to be replaced. It was not adjustable and the water pressure was too strong, a rare occasion for hotels. Horrendous higene in food service. Fries arrived OLD hard as a rock. Supposedly had truffles, well they did NOT. Salad was unwashed and gritty. LITTERALLY FILTHY. iwas too tired to complain and went to sleep. Room was nice but better lighting woulhave been nice.

We usually enjoy the Kimpton hotels, but something was "off" with this one. Despite its lovely location and very nice building, the only people who worked there who engaged with us at all were the valet parking gentlemen. The staff was really cool, and not in a good way. We were annoyed that we left the hotel at 8:00 in the morning, and when we returned […] at 4:30, our room was still not cleaned up. The room was in the basement with no window. Somehow, it was really noisy, both with street noise and from the room next door. While we realize we got a good price on what is supposed to be a very nice hotel, it wasn't a good value. We stayed a day at the Morisson House in old town Alexandria. We were delighted by both the hotel location and the quality of the service. One day is definitely way too short. This was our first time staying at the Morrison House and we could not have been more pleased. From the moment we drove up the staff was courteous, helpful and friendly. Our room was bright and clean. We especially enjoyed the Friday evening lounge piano bar. We will definitely visit again. An additional plus, pets are welcome!

The Morrison House, a Kimpton Hotel certainly lived up to its Trip Advisor ratings. The staff is very friendly and somewhat efficient. First impressions are of a luxury hotel with valet parking and a concierge. We booked two rooms, one was ready on arrival, so we left our bags and went for lunch. The rooms were not spacious, but very tastefully appointed. […] Our only problem with the room was that the refrigerators in both rooms did not work. We reported that to the desk, but with no result. Perhaps it had something to do with the previous day’s hurricane, but we expected better. We ate breakfast on both days of our stay and found it good. A previous reviewer thought the breakfast was expensive. It was not cheap, but the quality justified the moderately high prices. No local restaurant offered as good a value. Yes, a McBreakfast is cheaper, but… This is not a hotel for the budget traveler, but it is the best value for those looking for something better than the big chain hotels – and the prices are equal to or below big chain prices. What a lovely hotel in the heart of Old Town Alexandria! The staff and service were superb. The "parlor", "library" (which encourages visitors to leave a just-finished book and review!), and even courtyard were so comfortable and inviting! I loved that it was pet friendly, and even though I had to leave my puppy home, the sounds of other joyful pups […] in the morning, made me feel at home! But the absolute BEST part was my visit to the Grille and experiencing entertainment by former White House pianist Bob Smith and his group with their "open mic" singers. This is no karaoke bar, but professional opera singers and others with great talent and heart performing beautiful music for diners and those just having a cocktail. What a show! They are there Tues., Fri., & Sat., evenings AND on top of that the food is exquisite. You absolutely cannot do better for the price anywhere in Alexandria! Try it! I'll certainly be back. Read more

If you think having a real room key is a plus, this is your hotel. Hotel was amazing, staff was also. Location and amenities were unimpeachable. A handwritten note and fresh cookies on my nightstand when i arrived put me over the top.

My sister stayed at the Morrison House before and couldn't stop raving about it, she had the kind suite though. We stayed in the queen room because the prices were very high. The room was small and not worth the high dollar amount we paid. There was not a comfortable place in the room to relax. The one wing back type chair in the room was hard and unwelcoming. […] It was our first stay in a Kimpton hotel and the room enhancements were nice, but the room size was just to small. The bed was very comfortable, great bed linens, nice Aveda shower products and a huge plus was having a rack to put things on in the shower. I had a truly dismal subterranean room (one of 8 in the "ground floor" that were actually below street level). The room was in fact only suitable for storage or a gym. I never saw one of the above ground rooms (allegedly none were available), but whatever their amenities my recommendation would be the same. I booked this hotel because it said it provided complimentary airport service. What it failed to state was that it did so only for Reagan International and not Dulles. I discovered this when I called the hotel to arrange for pickup. They were unable to accommodate me so I cancelled and booked a different property.
