This was not a 4star hotel unless the person who rated it was drunk. The first room we got had intermittent electricity. That meant the lights ,t.v.,etc. went out without warning. The hotel is very close to the main area of Florence. Just a 15minute walk and it is really easy to find once you actually locate the hotel. From the train central station(Striozonne...sp), you take T1 bus to the first stop. The photos of the hotel are of the renovated area only, and those are considered "superior rooms" even though they are not, rooms are small even by European standards. I stayed at NH firenze because of good reviews and the images on Hotels.com however the room I was given was disgusting. it was not one of the upgraded rooms and it was dirty, there were cracks in the walls, my door could have been pushed in at any time. The key did not operate the lights properly so every time I came back to my room I had to call […] the front desk to have someone come and reset it. It took 5-10 min each time so sometimes I was just sitting waiting in the dark. One time when I called the front desk started yelling at me telling me I was doing it wrong, and never sent someone up. It was freezing in my room and the heater didn't work. I was going to take a bath to warm up and I turned on the water only to have yellow water come out and not clear up for about 30 seconds. I couldn't open the drain to drain the gross water and re-fill because there was handle, plug, nothing. The hotel offered me no compensation, they said the hotel was booked, then another receptionist said it wasn't but that they weren't going to change my room. This was a horrendous experience. The last indigenous tribe in the amazon has a hotel that was built for them but is sustained by them in order to keep them from being pushed out. That place has no electricity and not heated water and it was 1 million times better then NH firenze. Read more

Booked this hotel on a impromptu trip to Florence. The Metro runs directly to the front door from the train station - the hotel is one block from the river and within walking distance to all of the Florence sites! The rooms are clean and updated with lots of International TV channels.

The hotel appears to be nearly completely renovated, so some of the older reviews complaining about poorer quality rooms no longer seems to apply. The NH Firenze is a very suitable hotel if you want to sight see in Florence, although is about a 10-15 minute walk from the centre. The walk is along the river which is an easy walk and we were very lucky as we had warm sunny weaterh for the whole of our stay. On our arrival we asked if we could up grade our room as this was offered at reception. The […] receptionist arranged this free of charge and we were more than happy with the room. Clean sheets and towels were available on a daily basis and we could not fault the cleanliness of the room and bathroom. There are no tea and coffee making facitilities which would have safed us bringing our own travel kettle. We asked if there was a roof garden as the weather was good but the hotel does not have any outside facilities. There was a considerable amount of building work taking place at the hotel , noisy drilling and banging, but this stopped by about 6.00pm. We found the hotel staff were all friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good and more than adequate. We did not eat in the evening at the hotel due to the high costs involved. It is possible to get a tram to and back from the Stazione in the centre of Florence. The tram stop is near to the hotel but you have to purchase a ticket before travelling which we did at the station. You can also take advantage of a sight seeing bus ( hop on and off) with English commentary which you can board near the station. Read more
