"Close to the Airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
It was a pleasant, clean and modern place to stay before we left Italy the next morning. The free shuttle service to the airport was a nice perk. The evening reception desk person was very friendly and also gave us great advise of a good place to eat in the area.

"Good value."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
All in all a great little B&B. Only small annoyances location on main street a bit loud, internet when it did work: it was very slow. Housekeeping only available before 12pm. So if you are not out of your room by then you won't have toilet paper, fresh towels etc. Good perks free snacks and and drinks.

"A wonderful place to stay in Rome"
I am happy I selected this hotel for my first trip to Europe and Italy. The hotel is located just a short walk to the Vatican and not too far from a Metro stop. There are many shops and restaurants near the hotel, and there is a bus shuttle that takes you directly back to the airport in about 50 minutes for only 8 euros. The staff could not be anymore […] helpful. They were patient and spoke English very well. I am grateful to them for making my experience in Italy a great one. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location - clean rooms"
We just returned from Rome where we stayed at the Atlante Garden Hotel from Feb. 16 - 19, 2012. The best part about the hotel was its location. It is very close to the Vatican - about as close as you can get without being inside Vatican City. It is also close to the Metro stop and the stop at St. Peter's Square where the hop on/off busses are located. […] The reason we chose this hotel was the price and also because they pick you up from the airport (40 Euro savings). The rooms were clean and standard size for europe. They do charge a 3 Euro per person per night fee which all hotels in Rome charge, so take that into consideration. There is wireless internet throughout the hotel (not the best) and a bar on the lower level (pretty expensive). There is no restaurant in this hotel. Overall, this hotel was a good value and very well located. It is not a 4 star hotel by US terms, so do not have a high expectation. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Dec 2011 review"
First the good: pleased with size of our room. There were 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids) We had a corner "quad" room, #345. These are european hotels - no one expects grand suites but the room and especially the bathroom was nice in size. Everything was clean and staff was helpful and friendly. Lobby bar is small but convenient and serves everything from […] wine to great cappuccino. Free shuttle on arrival was appreicated too. They also arranged return shuttle for us for $50 euro. Ate breakfast at hotel 2 of 6 mornings. Like most buffet's, adequate but expensive. Things I would have improved on: I like a firm bed, but the mattress on our bed was like a rock. Luckily, we were dead tired from walking so much so it didn't prevent me from sleeping. The street noise did however. I live in Dubai and am accustom to a little road noise but the hotel is located on a very busy street. We adjusted quickly but if you're a light sleeper - don't forget the ear plugs! We notified the front desk on day 2 that our refrigerator was not working. Would have enjoyed some of the beers and drinks from the fridge if it wasn't room temp. :( No attempt to fix or follow up regarding. Same with hairdryer. 1980's wall mounted dryer that had hole in hose. Most of the hot air escaped from hole which would burn your hand before you were able to dry hair properly. Notified front desk of this as well. No repair/or follow up. Even a little tape would have helped. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A Good Choice!"
The Atlante Garden is located in a residential neighborhood very close to The Vatican. It is an extremely safe and enjoyable location with a Metro Stop located just a short 5-10 minute walk away. There are also many average dining services as well as cafes and shopping. A good chioce!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Best Christmas in Italy & the Vatican"
Location is perfect! My husband and two children really enjoyed ourselves. Close to Vatican, St. Peter's and we could walk to the Colloseum. People were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return to Atlante Garden! Only flaws: internet access very slow and difficult to use, elevator very small.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very good overall. The shuttle pick up is very nice (family trip) and is very close to the Vatican. The room we were in (corner towards the street) was a bit loud from traffic noise.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location, Friendly Staff"
The Atlante Garden Hotel is a very convenient location for visiting the Vatican and the Roman Forum and its surrounding areas. We walked most all places - and felt very comfortable and safe. The (free) pick-up service from the airport was great. We had an issue with lost luggage from the airline for two days and the front desk was "extremely helpful" […] with phone calls, etc. We did not reserve the breakfast included with the room, because it was little pricey - there are several street cafes nearby - but some more expensive than the hotel. There were some reasonable eateries, but if you are in a rush, it would be much better to eat at the hotel and then be on your way. We would definitely stay at this hotel again ! We have nothing but good things to say about the Hotel. The staff were great, they spoke english and were very helpfull. The airport pick-up was on time and free. The Hotel booked the return trip at a very good price. The room was clean and confortable and the size you would expect for the price. The Hotel was six blocks from St. Peter's Square and […] eight blokcs from Vatican Museum. Metro was further but in waling distance. Could't figure out the bus routes from Hotel. A lot of shops, eating places, banks and markets in the area. The breakfast was good (cold breakfast) but if you do not want to pay the extra $12 per day, the delli across the street has coffee and rolls for 4 euros. The staff recommended good places to eat. Meals in Rome are a lot more expensive than on my last visit two years ago. I would stay at this hotel again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Charming Hotel with a staff that cares about you."
Great hotel, the staff was very friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help a customer. The airline lost a guest's luggage and the staff spent hours talking with the airline on her behalf to assist in locating her luggage. "Very nice and over all happy"
I was very happy with the Hotel. You have to remember that by going to Rome Italy, you're going back in time. Everything is older and smaller, but that's the beauty of it. Thank God it has not been Super Sized yet, and I hope, wish and pray it never does get Super Sized. Now, about the Hotel itself. The Bathroom was a good size and the rest of the room […] as well. I did not go to Rome to stay in my room. I also did not go all the way to Rome to eat at the Hotel, so I do not know what their food is like. The Staff was O.K. I guess it's just a job for them, I was not there to make friends with them. They were o.k. and helpful. The location was great in my opinion. I would recommend this Hotel to others. Remember, you're going to Rome for it's Historic Beauty and a trip into the past. Not it's hotels. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We traveled in November to Rome and this hotel had an exceptional location for us. We love to walk so we found all the fountains and the Forum and Colosseum very accessible. We also toured the Vatican museum and it was wonderful to be close enough to walk right into line early to get lots of time in the museums. The staff was very helpful and speaks […] several languages. We also speak Spanish so it was great to practice with the desk person. Breakfast was a great way to start the day and lasted a long time. hotel not well maintained, surrounding neighborhood ok, lots of coffee shops for simple breakfast of capuchino or espresso + pastry -- typical italian breakfast-- do not expect choices of eggs, bacon, waffles, pancakes etc.... sandwiches for lunch is so,so but dinner was fantastic but costly. transportation like cab-- too expensive / bus available right […] o/s hotel trains/subways is just a walking distance from the hotel -- please be prepare to walk a lot.(comfortable sneakers is a must). rooms -- clean, too small, not handicap friendly not accessible w/c is too bad for our senior folks. neighborhood -- too noisey but if you are extremely tired, u take a sleep aid pill and had too much to drink then you will sleep like a baby. hotel maintenance -- not really expected d/t bad economy.Surrounding neighborhood not much to say but if u like shopping ladies its just next street over and super makert or convienient stores very accessible -- u just have to ask for "mercato ". this was my second visit in italy -- loved the country side -- city side is ok for few days. hotel staff 2/4 speaks english. overall satisfaction 2-3/5.. "Do not recommend"
The hotel was nothing like the pictures, it was really old and not very clean. The wallpaper was peeling from the walls and the carpet was really old. The hotel is located on a very busy avenue so it is very hard to sleep with the traffic noise. We had to pay for the wi-fi and it didn't work very well. The "shuttle" to the airport is a regular taxi […] and it is cheaper to get one yoursef. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not impressed..."
While the location was okay and the surrounding neighborhood was good, this hotel is really sub-standard. The towels were dirty and had stains on them. The decor is awful - very old-fashioned. The bathroom was filthy and the bed sheets were dirty. We had to ask twice for clean towels because the ones placed in our room were so incredibly disgusting. […] By the way, the shuttle service is only free when you are picked up from the airport. Suppose you arrive in Rome on a train and then need a shuttle to the airport for your departure, you have to pay even though it's technically one way. Overall, not impressed at all and I would definitely not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

It’s a perfect location to see the Pope in the Vatican! It is literally down the street. To see the Coliseum you just jump on the nearby Monorail which is very close as well. "Our Second Visit Is Disappointing"
We had stayed at what is now named the Atlante Star when last in Rome and actually thought we had reserved rooms there via the internet which did not specify that there are two Atlantes. In fact, the pictures online are of the Star and the restaurant. So...we were diappointed right away. Then, we went to the Star to go to the Rooftop Restaurant which […] we remembered to find it not open......again, this was not mentioned online. Another couple was with us which made these things even more disappointing. The rooms were adequate....beds very narrow. And, breakfast was not included which we had previously also experienced as included. We will likely try somewhere else next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location, Good rooms, friendly staff"
My wife stayed here on our honeymoon just last week (9/20/2011-9/28/2011). It was a great Hotel. The room was well furnished with a double bed, desk, TV, 2 chairs. A bathroom with a W.C. (toilet), bidet, and Jacuzzi/bath/shower. The shower-head was on a line that connected from the faucet on the tub, located to the side of the tub, not at the head, […] and you could hang it on a holder for taking a shower. They included bath foam, which got really foamy when the Jacuzzi was turned on. The TV is small (not that we cared, it was never turned on once), but if you are going to Rome to watch TV in your hotel, save your money and watch TV in america, or go out and explore the wonderful city of Rome! It's a four star hotel, but keep in mind, it's not like a 4 star in America, not as luxurious. The room is small by American standards, as in smaller than a room at the Holiday Inn. It costs money to use the Internet or the computer in the lounge, but these things are common in Europe. The elevator is tiny, but again, Europe, it's an old building! The staff speaks English, especially the front desk guys, and they are very knolwedgable about practical matters, like where to change money, a bite to eat, how to get to some of the churches. The best part is the location! turn right and walk 2 blocks (which are tiny in Rome) and you are on Via Octaviano, which takes you to St. Peters, or the Metro station. A nice little resturant on the corner as well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Hotel + Location, Poor Bed Situation"
This is a great hotel, with a fantastic location and friendly service. Our room was elegant and clean, and was just a quick walk away from the Vatican. Our biggest gripe was with the beds - we had a double room, which they made by sliding two single beds together to make one big bed. This of course, resulted in a big crack opening up in the middle of […] the bed when two adults tried to sleep next to each other. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

though it was a night stay but service was worse..I had free shuttle for my booking but they never sent shuttle for my pick up I had to take bus and I ended connecting in different buses and arrived at hotel at 1:30 in the after noon instead of 9:30. "Best hotel location in Rome"
The room assigned was small with just a very small window and I was afraid I would feel claustrophobic when I first got in. I don't know how they give stars in Rome but this should not be a 4-star hotel. The bathroom was not clean. There was so much rust. The bathtub had permanent stains. Double bed turned out to be two twins with a height difference between them -- very uncomfortable. I am sure there are much better hotels in Rome. I am not going back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Atlante Garden in Vatican City/Rome-close to metro"
Overall, this was a comfortable hotel to recover from lots of walking and sightseeing. The location was near Vatican City, so quick walk to the Vatican and St. Peter's. It was also a reasonable walk across the river to the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain, especially pleasant in the evening. It was also very close to a metro station, […] which helped get to/from the train station and when you couldn't imagine walking any further. However, pretty far from the airport and lots of steps in between. Only minor critiques: The room was very large, although a little dark even when all the lights were on. The bathroom was a good size, but the tub looked a little old. Breakfast was expensive, so I recommend finding a place outside the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Rude front desk service spoils otherwise ok hotel"
My husband, step son andi stayed here for two nights at the end of a two week vacation. The hotel was reasonably clean although some ofbthe furnishings were a bit shabby for such an expensive hotel - the couch in the lobby was thrift store quality. The location was very good and it's particularly close to the Vatican. The worst part of it was the rude […] front desk person and their inability to be helpful with transfers. We couldn't get them to book a pick up at the airport as we didn't have an incoming flight number since we'd already been touring Italy in our rental car. They wouldn't pick us up at the airport rental car spot so we had to drive into Rome ourselves to find the hotel then my husband had a 3 hour ordeal driving to the airport and taking a train to get back to the hotel (Don't believe them if they say it's walkable to the train!). To top it all off they wouldn't even give us the free transfer that we missed out on for the arrival on the back end for the trip to the airport on the way home. Even though they hadn't picked us up for free as advertised, they said it was their "policy" not to allow the free transfer to be used on the back end even though they OWN the shuttle van! Very rude and unhelpful during the whole process so it left a very bad taste in our mouths. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fine hotel"
My wife & I spent 10 days at Atlante Garden to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We very much liked the hotel. It is very convenient to the Vatican, and an easy 10 minute walk to the Ottaviano Metro stop. The 492, 23, and 81 buses will become your best friends. The service was friendly and competent. The room was very, very clean. The breakfast (included […] in our price) was good. The room was very quiet - no traffic noise and almost none from our neighbors. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioning was terrific, and a life-saver for us. Apart from the Vatican, the hotel is a bit out of the way. But we really can't complain. Piazza di Risorgimento and Via Ottaviano are nice places to eat & shop. The hotel delivered on everything it promised, including the free pick-up from the airport. They were upfront and honest - and that's saying something for Italy. Very minor complaint: the bathroom door didn't latch properly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The staff was very helpful and nice. especially a Francesco at the front desk; […] he gave us so much guidance and help that made out trip so much easier. I recommend this hotel if you are a family on a budget who won't spend all day at the hotel....metro is short 10 min walk to get to most attractions. on the bad side Pictures are not quite accurate, they have two hotels; Atlante Star Hotel, a few blocks away and the pictures you see are from both hotels, so you don't really know which one you will see.
