"Hawaiian style friendly, great location"
This is the fifth time my wife and I have enjoyed 10-day stays at the Ilima. It gets better every time. Very quiet, nice neighborhood, short walk to everything, including Waikiki Beach. Free parking too (other hotels charge $25-$35 per night). Gigantic rooms. Excellent kitchen with stove, full-size fridge, dishes. Cleaning staff are mostly Filipino […] and most have worked at the Ilima for many years, and take great pride in their work. They love the place almost as much as we do. Best value in Waikiki. It was much better than expected. The bed was a bit stiff, should have a firm foam instead. Loved the refrigerator in the room. Too bad there wasn't a cup of coffee, or some free coffee in the room to be made, then it would have been perfect.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to every where at affordable price"
The place is more like a cross between hotel and condominium. There are cook ware, stove, and untensils so you can cook up your meals instead of dinining out every day. There is also laundry facility on the 3rd floor. I would recommend it for long term stays.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Older but very clean and comfy"
Hidden treasure for the price. Was old but clean which is most important to me. Good location, heart of everything. Great view of city.Genuine Expedia guest review
The balcony door of our room wouldn't lock. Not safe for our 3 year old who could open the door by himself. We were told it couldn't be fixed until the next day. Also there were stains on the bedding. I know this hotel is old but come on, you can invest in new bedding. We asked for a different room and were shown a dirty room. It hadn't been cleaned […] after the previous guest left. We were then shown to another room that had windows that didn't close all of the way. It was very windy that night so there was no way we were staying in a room with open windows. We have 2 young kids and if they don't sleep, we don't sleep. We ended up staying at the Marriott for the same price per night plus a parking fee. So worth it! Won't ever stay at Ilima hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location and friendly staff but so old"
Great location but unit is very small old and run down. Noisy outside. rug worn and torn, cupboards won't shut.Genuine Expedia guest review
Since there were three of us on this trip to Oahu, my friends and I wanted to stay in a suite. While searching on line, I came across the Ilima Hotel and I liked that it was in a great location and offered two bedroom suites with a full kitchen at a reasonable price. The pictures of the premises looked fine enough. It wasn't until we arrived at the […] hotel and glanced around that I noticed it was well maintained and clean--so were our rooms. We also had a lanai where we drank our morning coffee. There was a small swimming pool at the back of the lobby. There's also free parking for guests! The Ilima might be a budget condo hotel but its courteous and helpful staff, clean premises, free parking and other amenities makes it well worth the stay. I recommend it to everybody who wants to stay near the beach and action in Waikiki at a reasonable price. We had an enjoyable stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"basic studio apartment"
We got a studio apartment with full kitchen on the 4th floor. The view was unacceptable. We were looking directly into the facing apartment complex. They can see into our room and vice versa. Had to keep curtain closed most of the time. We should have asked to switch room, but didn't want the hassle after unpacked. The aircon was a small window unit […] and had probably been running for months without cleaning. It was filthy and loud. It ran all day & night to maintain 74 deg. The beds have bed bugs. The kitchen was stocked with all the needed items. The bathroom was small, but clean. The small safe has a daily fee, not acceptable! The pool was super SMALL and the water was COLD! The parking spaces were limited and small. If you don't get back to the hotel before 5pm, you're going to have a rough time parking a Smart size car. The staff are all friendly. We never really made any request of them other than extra towels. They don't have beach towels. They loan out OLDER bath towels as beach towels, not acceptable, bring your own. As we were not in our room very much, only to shower/sleep, we weren't very fuzzy, just wanted a hotel with a kitchen. So, if you're looking for an average apartment with free limited parking, free wifi, full kitchen, a laundry room, and not much else, you may be okay here. We weren't expecting better due to all the good reviews, sadly not the case. We had a fun week, but not because of the "apartment". Basic studio apartment, not hotel! "Close to everything needed"
Staff very helpful and professional On site laundryGenuine Expedia guest review
this is close, clean, friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was large and comfortable, with space to spare. We had a full size fridge, stove and microwave, plus a dining area and TWO beds - we only used/needed one. The location was great - we were a block away from International Market (which we could see from our lanai) and two blocks from the beach. There was a huge variety of eating establishments […] within a very short walking distance, and a very convenient mailing office on the next street to send packages home. Parking was never a problem. My only complaint would be the lack of hot water - it would run hot/warm for about 5 minutes and then it was lukewarm/cold. The hotel is older, though they seem to keep it in good repair and after all you're in Waikiki...how much time do you want to spend in your room? Pool was tiny, but sufficinet this time of year! I would use this hotel again based on price and proximity. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great deal with on↳ one drawback"
A very good accomodation for the price very clean, convenient quiet and roomy Only drawback was that the bed was very basic and the sheets were too small for the bed, so it came unmade easily, However, I slept well and overall felt I got a good deal,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel near to the beach!"
We were so pleased with our stay at the Ilima Hotel! The hotel staff was pleasant and very accomodating. Our room was nicely furnished and very clean. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were nice and soft! While we didn't use the kitchenette, it was clean and well-stocked with kitchen items. The hotel was a short walk to beautiful Waikiki Beach […] and to shopping and restaurants. The Ilima is a true gem in the heart of Waikiki! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Value, close to everything, hard bed"
The Ilima Hotel is a very good place to stay. We were close to every attraction and bus line, the room was large and the kitchen was very nice to have. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Having off street parking is a real plus. The only drawback to this hotel is that the beds are very hard and uncomfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not sure I should share my thoughts on The Ilima (a best kept secret!) but will anyway! This is our fourth stay at The Ilima . We keep coming back because of the value and location. Where in Waikiki can you park for FREE? We only rent a car for our day trip to North Shore but it is nice to know there is no charge to park. Do not rent a car for the week! […] The bus will take you anywhere you want to go for $2.50. The hotel is right across from Enterprise rental....The hotel has a full size fridge and great little kitchen. "Nice and affordable"
If you're looking for a temporary home in Waikiki and not to big on up to date rooms, then this is definitely the hotel for you. As other reviews have said, the decor is pretty old, but it has all the necessities. It's a 5 minute walk to the beach, a full kitchen from a stove to a full size fridge. "Nice Hotel, Good value for the money."
The staff made us feel welcome. They provide a lot of features a lot of other hotel charge for. This included free parking, free wireless internet, full kitchens, beach towels and mats. It is conveniently located in the heart of Waikiki.Genuine Expedia guest review

The hotel needs upgrades especially in the bathroom and kitchen. It is close to famous Waikiki beach. The kitchen was useful with all type of pots, plates, and silverware.Genuine Expedia guest review
"We enjoyed this hotel, it was 1block off Kuhio av."
We loved not being directly on busy Kuhio, no noise. Conviently located, easy walk to nearby shopping areas. Great Udon noodle restaurant block away on Kuhio. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"somewhere between just fine and ok"
The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and my family really enjoyed the free activities the hotel provided (lei making, singing, etc). The location, which is across the street from the International Market, was very convenient. They also offer free parking and have a free wireless internet connection in the room (with reasonable speed). The […] room we got had a full kitchen, which really helped save us a lot of money by not eating at restaurants every meal. From this aspect I gave them a solid 4-star review. However, there are also a few not-so-good aspects to point out that may (or may not) be a big deal to some travelers. There is a desperate need of renovation in the rooms. Secondly, we found the bed to not be the most comfortable, but it was tolerable. If you have fairly high standards for your Hawaiian vacation, and you have the means to shell out more money for your vacation, I would suggest you do so. However, if you really are looking to put together a budget-priced vacation (and you don't mind a few quirky aspects of this hotel), then this property is a solid choice. The mini-market just down the street had a surprisingly good selection of food and other beach-related items, and were not quite as expensive as other stores in the Waikiki area. Also, there is a bar just down the street, which may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on who you are. The bottom line is that this hotel is a very good bargain hotel, but not The Hilton. "Great Location ... Parking not Guaranteed"
Love the location, large room, full kitchen, free parking, but it's first come first serve.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pearl Harbor Memorial"
Visiting Pearl Harbor was the reason for coming to Oahu. Hotel was older (45 yrs) but well kept and not pricey. Our 6th flr lge studio w/kitchenette had a small balcony overlooking a roof and othr bldgs w/a portion of the nearby st. being visible. While we ate mostly in our unit, no complimentary coffee pkg or tea was in sight, having to be purchased. […] It seemed clean but not luxurious. Location was a plus as one could easily walk to Waikiki Bch or the crowded downtown area to see all the sights...w/relative safety. As we spent our one day on a marvelously guided tour to the AZ meml, the time spent in the room was minimal. However, would likely research another hotel for a better experience should we decide to return. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Convenient location, budget minded"
Stayed at the Ilima for 7 nights, late June 2013. We had 2 adults and 5 teenagers in a 2 BR suite. The sleeping arrangements were not as difficult as we thought it would be and the family actually bonded by this close interaction. The full kitchen was a definite plus as trying to feed 5 kids can be a bit pricey. The location was very convenient and […] the kids were able to wander to the shops on their own. The staff was extremely accomodating and even set aside a couple of boogie boards for us to use so we didn't have to buy/rent. Yes, this is an older hotel and the rooms do show some wear and could use to stand some updating. The pool is barely worth mentioning and the parking spots will challenge even the most adept parker. However, for our purposes, it suited us fine and the favorable cost enable us to enjoy more activities on the island. I would gladly stay here again when on Oahu. "Nice hotel with friendly staff."
The room was clean and the AC worked great. The staff was very nice and accommodating. 2 queen size beds. We only needed one of the beds which was good because 1 of them was comfortable and the other bed we nicknamed the "cement" bed. Overall, very good experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wow! What a great value for your money. The staff are so nice. The location is great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No frills cleanliness"
Hotel and rooms are very clean. The rooms, however, are outdated. Rooms are large by modern standards and include a small kitchen area with stovetop. Short walk to the Waikiki beach. Prompt in mailing my cellphone charger back to me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to everything, but a renovation wouldn't hur"
This was just what we had expected, and we don't really have anything to complain about. The location is great, just a short walk to shops, restaurants, and Waikiki. We had a large corner room, looking out to the mountains, and two large beds. The room has a small kitchen, which was convenient, as we didn't want to go out for breakfast in the mornings. […] The reason I'm grading the hotel at average is that its age is starting to show and it feels that a renovation is long overdue. Staff is friendly and helpful, and parking is free. If I come back to Honolulu, I would consider staying here again if the rates are at the same competitive level. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Walking distance to the beach."
Our stay was comfortable. The hotel is a bit outdated but was clean and had what we needed for our 7 night stay in Oahu. The kitchen was a plus because we had the opportunity to cook some of our own meals. The staff was very nice and helpful. I would stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Very nice hotel close to shopping and beach."

"Ilimia Hotel met my expectations."
We booked this hotel based on price and location - we expected a 3 star hotel, and were pleased with the excellent customer services, comfortable (but aging) junior suite, free parking, and location 2 blocks from Waikiki. We booked 2 rooms, both were clean, and we had no complaints.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Inexpensive in Waikiki"
The staff was nice and helpful. Our room was larger and less expensive than our friend's room at the Marriott. The only issue we had was the kitchen is not well stocked with pots and pans, but the basics are there. See what you have in your room before you pick up groceries. It's an older décor but clean and within walking distance to the beach and […] shops. We would stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We stay for 4 nights, first 2 days wifi will not work, but staff clear the problem. Room is clean and good appointed, studio. It's quiet, cause 2 blocks away from the beach and maintrouble bot not to far.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was OK for ONE night as a layover but if I had to stay there longer, I'd be beyond disappointed!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"One night only"
With longer stay, could have made some use of the kitchenette facilities. But the noise of the wall AC would have made a longer stay somewhat less enjoyable over other places we have stayed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice staff, clean room, good stay. Good amount of room for the money. Pool is tiny, but Waikiki Beach is 4 minutes away, who stays by the pool? Very close to International Bizarre.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value for price"
Great value for the price...not the newest hotel in Waikiki, but kept up well. Free parking adds up over several days, and was a nice bonus. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice people but dreadful room"
It was old and not kept up to date. Sheet were thin and bed was hard. Room was very out dated. We used travel advisor so very disappointed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the beaches"
Quiet, affordable and close to the beaches, I wanted a room with a kitchen, but at the end we did not use it. Clean, but in some areas they need to do a deep cleaning. Overall, very nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
