Resort was beautiful. Lots of activities included with resort fee. You never have to leave there is so much to do. Customer service is excellent. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Food was amazing! Pools were great. There is an adults only pool which was nice. Beds very comfortable. Best hotel I have ever stayed in.

We booked this property to celebrate my 50th Birthday. We checked into our room and the handle to the entryway door was broken. We could not get back into the room. My husband reported it immediately but 6 hours later after many tries and complaints to management we still could not get into our room. When we finally got in the hotel manager called to […] apologize and promised to credit our charges for the day and send up a bottle of champagne for our troubles. We never got the champagne and he never took the charges off of our bill. My husband was able to get the person at check out remove some of them. It took an hour to get one beer at the pool bar. Cheeca Lodge and Spa was a pricey, but luxurious treat. The King Suite was huge and comfortable. It had a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and small stove. We definitely expected more surface in this hotel. We waited 45 minutes at our table before anyone Took our breakfast order. We asked for coffee three or four times and never came. On the beach facilities you had to access your own beach towels which were quite a distance from the beach although there was a sports hut right on the beach but no towels […] housed there. We $800 a night for our room and our room was not ready upon check-in. We were told to give them our cell phone number and they would call contact us when the room was available. In most ways Cheeca is absolutely wonderful. The grounds are beautiful and very well done. There are places for both adults only and families with small children, which we really enjoyed since we did not have children with us. Breakfast on the patio is relaxing, overlooking the water. The shower door did not close properly, so it hit glass on glass, making a very loud sound if you did not close it very gently and making me worried about the glass shattering. We were not in the main building and the hallways are outdoor. At times people were very loud, slamming doors and yelling to each other down the hall. For the price point of this resort I would not have expected this. All in all we had a wonderful experience and I would stay there again. Although the finishes of the hotel are on the surface great, we had one issue after another with our room. Within the 4 days there we had a tub with a sloppy repair of caulk that became unusable while it was properly repaired for 2 of our 4 days (not to mention smelly). The spa package I attempted to buy would not allow a downgrade to a lesser charged item when it was discovered that one of the offered treatments was not compatible with some medication. We ended up taking that business outside of the hotel. Lastly, when we went to ask about fishing bait, the attendant was rude and kept telling us to come back the next morning. The nicest people we met there were the lowest level of server and housekeeper. This hotel really needs to review its customer service practices to make them in line with the finishes they lay thier claim to. A plate of brie with fruit doesn't compensate for an issue a day and an attitude that says "we don't really care about you." Read more

My wife and I spent 5 days at Cheeca Lodge & Spa, our experience we had was fantastic. We had a room that over looked the lagoon and spa area which was amazing. The room was very comfortable with the bedroom being separate from the kitchen & living area space which allowed one person to sleep in while the other sat in the living room reading. The resort […] was extremely nice and had a very rich feel to the layout. We ate all of our meals outside enjoying the beautiful view. Our food was always fantastic along with the serving staff, this was impressive to me since I'm in the restaurant business myself. There was a young girl from Peru whom we alway looked for to be our server, she was amazing to talk with and her service was the best I've experienced anywhere. Each day we would go out in the morning and read on the beach, the chairs were alway clean and towels were brought to us daily. We enjoyed all of the guest benefits from kayaking, bicycling, golfing, and the spa/gym. For our first visit to the Florida Keys, I'd say it was a fantastic experience and this is coming from me getting a flu type virus from the plane flight in which advil allowed me to enjoy the vacation. For feeling poorly the last four days, it would have been easy to complain about the resort but Cheeca was too strong of a positive experience and could not be ruined. Had a great vacation stay here. Thanks to Expedia Elite status, my friend and I were able to upgrade to a suite + adjoining bedroom, which gave us essentially a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment. Great time with kids. Free fishing from the pier. Rent kayaks, parasail, fish. Laid back atmosphere & local places for shopping & eating very close. Had trouble getting them to clean the room. Door stuck and ac vent left a pool of water right in front of our hotel room door.

The location of Cheeca is perfect as it's in the heart of Islamorada and close to many nice restaurants and other conveniences. The grounds are very well maintained and staff helpful and friendly. Rooms are nice and you can park your car right near your room, which is very nice. The rooms are a bit of a walk to the main area, which is a slight inconvenience […] but nothing too bad. Beach is very nice and hotel bar outside is great. Only negative is the food and, more precisely, the prices. My wife and I found it much more enjoyable and reasonable to dine out at surrounding local spots, which were more fun and much cheaper. For example, the breakfast buffet at Cheeca cost more per person than our entire breakfast at a nearby waterfront restaurant and the food was better at the outside place. Save your money and dine elsewhere, aside from snacks or drinks. Lorelei's, Mangrove Mike's, Island Grill, and Overseas Kitchen. Avoid Chef Michael's as it is very overpriced and mediocre. Cheeca Lodge was well worth our time. My girlfriend and I were on an Islamorada fishing trip and decided to stay at Cheeca Lodge & Spa last weekend. Our first time to the resort was so much fun that we did way less fishing than we planned. We were booked into the main lodge. We loved the glass shower and balcony jet tub that fills from the ceiling downward […] and were hard pressed to think of a better resort stay than Cheeca Lodge. Our stay was super friendly from start to finish and began with a cheerful employee at the guard house named Earl. Our tiki bar waitress with the visor (I want to say Stephanie) was delightful and provided prompt information on where to kite board and enjoy other water sports, and we would like her to be recognized for her attention. The hallways of the lodge are fresh and our room, the largest outside of the Bush Presidential Suite, was comfortable. Housekeeping clearly does an outstanding job although not sure if they or maintenance are responsible for cleaning the bathroom ceiling lighting fixture as that was the only miss on cleanliness. The views were unbelievable and we had lots of fun lounging at the pool, in the hot tub, on spa island and enjoying drinks on the outdoor club rooftop. We also were able to get in some fishing on the resorts very own pier as well as catch some NFL playoff football at the resort Tiki Bar. We highly recommend Cheeca Lodge & Spa to anyone visiting beautiful Islamorada, Florida. Read more

The per on who registered us seemed disconnected and pre-occupied...maybevwe caught her rightv before she was getting off work. no champagne greeting that appeared to be standard for everyone […] else. we ate lunch right after checking in and service was poor...and we kept having to call upon someone else's waitress or our need because our waiter diappeared. from their we went to relax in the beach...while we could see waitresses/ waitress getting other peoples drinks, again we had to finally ask someone else's waitress to get us a drink. and the room had an adjacent suite and we could very clearly hear the people next door speaking in normal tones..no privacy or peace. a real disappointment as the property was nice and if the people and service had been better we might have stayed. we 'd been up and down the keys and had much better value with great service. My wife and I were astonished when staff unlocked the door and walked in on us while we were in bed at 8:00 AM. They did not knock or anything, nor did they apologize. That was an incredibly unacceptable experience and I called the […] front desk to make them aware of the situation that occurred. Unfortunately it reoccurred again about an hour later while we were still in bed. Not something that I could have ever imagined happening especially after paying such an incredible amount of money for a room. After speaking with the General Manager about both incidents, we were told that they thought the room was empty. The only compensation we received for the inexcusable interruptions while in bed was a free breakfast. Not hardly something that I would ever recommend to anyone that wants privacy. Read more
