"Worst Portland Hotel Not Worth the Price"
I have been staying here for the past 2 days unfortunately because of location and friends being near PSU. I seen this hotel advertised and thought TGTBT and I was right. The price was right bbut the staff sucked and stole my laundry. They had no advice or effort towards getting my clothes back and I hated the Front desk manager's stank attitude. It's […] had so much potential to be a great room and I ordered a deluxe room which is supposed to be the newly and upgraded rooms yet they don't have an ethernet cord in the new rooms so wifi access in nearly impossible. I just would never stay there again. There is no upgraded room you are better off getting the cheaper room. There are no amniites and the gym they have is I would say 3 outta 5 star's. But I don't book a room to go to a mediocre gym I book to have a comfortable bed and a nice clean linen's The linen's here are already stained and not comfortable at all. There are 3 level's and within the time of my 2 day 2 night stay I had to switch rooms because of them painting the floor. This place is a 2 star at best hotel with rude staff that are too cool for school. The only comfort they offer are drapes to go to sleep for a while and not wake up because the room is so ugly and the channels are so basic and the internet doesn't work! still can't believe we had to pay to park our car in the parking lot $15.00 that was never mentioned any were probably would not stay again just for that fact...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was very comfortable and extremely clean. It was conveniently located for my meeting at the OMSI, and I felt quite safe. I was a little surprised that parking was an additional fee, but it's downtown Portland and I've paid more for less.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good and affordable place near PSU and downtown"
This place is in a good location. $15 parking fee was not included nor was explicitly stated that I had to pay extra for parking. I noticed it wouldn't have been hard to find free parking on the street since my stay was for Saturday night. Breakfast was included and it was well worth it with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, etc. I'd stay here again […] . Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
University Hotel is convenient to downtown and transit system. The hotel is adeqaute, clean but a little dated. It could use some upgrades.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Home away from home."
Felt very comfortable and secure. Quiet & restful. Happy to have food available. Didn't have to leave premises to go eat.Genuine Expedia guest review
Carpeting and wallpaper throughout was tattered, torn and worn. The room was basic, no microwave or fridge. Mold on the shower curtain, mold in the bathtub under some stick-down non-slip contact paper stuff in the bottom of the bathtub. The carpet in the hotel room was so dirty that I wore my shoes the entire time in the room. Comforter had stains and […] looked like it hadn't been changed in weeks. Overall, the cleanliness of the room was quite gross. Our friends who stayed in another room had the same experience - their comforter was so bad, they removed it from the bed. The cookies that were given to us on check-in were so greasy they soaked through the wax paper bag they were in. Not sure if they were really old - or just that greasy. We will definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone, nor will we return. I was disappointed in the strong rating the hotel had with expedia. I guess I can't rely on Expedia's 4 star rating. Yuck! "Safe area but hotel is dated."
Good for a place to sleep but definitely not luxurious.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Okay place to stay"
Our stay was only overnight but the room was so small and with mostly outdated furnitures and drapings. May or may not stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location Was Great. The Staff Were Fab. The Cookies Were Yummy As Was The Breakfast. The Bed Sheets were Uncomfortable ,Poor Fitting, Bunched Up Mattress Pads..Terrible Wifi Situation. Poor Television Reception.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is on the out skirts of downtown. It was decent no complaints.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"It was so cold and drafty but in my price range"
The truth is this hotel was in my price range and close to downtown. I stayed in one of the deluxe rooms which was OK. The room was super cold and even with the heater on you could feel the cold air coming in the window.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Middling price, cold room"
I stayed here for a single night, so had little time to form an impression. The impression that I formed was mixed. The staff seemed reasonably friendly and provided much needed cookie when I checked in at midnight, but the room was unseasonably cold for a wet April night and rather dated (most notably, featuring an old CRT TV and an aged and difficult […] to use digital alarm clock). "Safe Quiet location"
Hotel staff was very helpful and nice. The hotel's condition left a little to be desired. Overall not a bad stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is an OLD place and has outside entry to some of rooms. Restaurant/bar is a jokeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I'm pretty sure that the cookies upon check-in were a ploy to make you not notice the low quality of the rest of the hotel. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have slept on in quite a while. It also didn't help that the blankets all felt about as warm as a simple top sheet and were obviously too small for the bed itself. The bathroom was abysmal […] for hotel standards. The door to the bathroom was coming apart. The bathtub was stained past the point of being able to be clean ever again and both days we found left over hair after housekeeping had come through. I was very disappointed in this location! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Edge of Downtown Portland"
Just a few minutes drive to Old Chinatown for the night scene. Met if not exceeded expectations. Rooms are clean, comes with a fridge and modestly priced bottled water ($1.50) The free breakfast is very nice, and I think makes the experience that much better. Buffet style breakfast until 9am. "2nd Weirdest Hotel I've Ever Slept At"
First of all, this hotel is an enormous, strange maze. It took me nearly 10 mins to figure out where my room was - walking through long corridors, up and down ramps outside in the pouring rain before I found it. Then my keys didn't work - uugh! After I get into the room I look around at old furnishings including a 24" CRT style Color TV! Thank god it […] was in color. No worries I have my 2 year old Macbook Pro - the kind without an Ethernet Port and the listing for place said "Complimentary WiFi", so no problem, right? Quick scan of available networks "PSU" Portland State University? I dunno - where's "University Place" or "UPGuest" or ANYTHING I that looks like a hotel WiFi SSID??? I got an answer right away by calling the front desk - CAT5 connection only. I ask about the "Complimentary WiFi" advertised and was told "Yes, we have that in our Lobby"... What! It's too late for me to sort out a Thunderbolt Port Ethernet Adapter from Apple Store and I need online, so I have to Tether through my phone to the tune of 10 dollars per GB- which ended up costing this video editor an extra 40 dollars by the end of my stay. "Not bad for the price"
When we booked, Expedia's description stated all rooms have jetted tubs and our particular room was suppose to have a balcony, neither of which were true. The room could use a makeover, bed was a bit springy, carpet old, and the phone didn't work. However, our room was facing inside the courtyard and was very quiet. The room was clean and staff friendly. […] The pool was closed for winter but looked like it would be fun in the summer and very private, the workout facility had brand new equipment and was one of the nicest I have ever used at a hotel. "About right for the price"
the staff was friendly (if a little bit slow). the room was clean and comfortable. the overall condition of the hotel was just ok and had a slight chemical smell that annoyed my wife. fyi, $12 charge for unsecured parking. so to sum it up, "you get what you pay for"Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"decent value, good location"
We came up for a fun weekend in downtown Portland, and had a great stay. Amenities were nothing fancy, but clean and more than adequate. Staff was friendly, especially the front desk girl in the morning who gave us a map and directions to the nearby attractions. For a hotel near waterfront park and other happening spots, this is probably the best middle […] of the road value. Although keep in mind to add $12 for parking, and we didn't realize that hotels.com doesn't include tax in their quoting price. All in all, we have no complaints and had a great time at the hotel. "Nice Location...dirty rooms"
We stayed at this motel due to its close proximity to the Keller Auditorium and the Celtic Woman concert we came to Portland to see. Our first impression of the room was satisfactory, and then we started to notice that it appeared the floors had not been vacuumed in some time. They were dirty and there were items imbedded in the carpet, the most noticeable […] being pieces of what appeared to be dog kibble. The bed was made up, or it appeared to be, until we went to bed, and then noticed that the sheets were very loose, like they had just been pulled up, and not remade. In fact, we thought that they might have been left over from the previous guest. The bath room and vanity area did "appear" to be cleaner than the rest of the room. The hotel staff was friendly in the brief enounters we had with them. Would we stay here again: NO. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, run down hotel"
This hotel is completely run down. The hallways smell and the decor leaves much to be desired. However, the rooms are clean and fairly large and the location is by far the best part about it. It is is right on the trolley line with easy walking distance access to all the downtown shopping. For the price, this hotel is well worth staying at over any […] of the other hotels downtown. The staff was very nice and helpful too. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Inexpensive and good value, but not much to it"
The place is a great bargain for the location. The hotel itself is fine, but very dated. Everything is state of the art 1981 with a few exceptions.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good deal for the money"
The property is a little worn around the edges and some of the bath fixtures are dated, but still very liveable. The welcoming chocolate chip cookie and the complimentary full hot breakfast were nice surprises. (Now that I've spilled the beans, remember to act surprised!)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"All but pillow was very good"
We stayed at this motel because of its location and price. It is a very good value and parking rates for a downtown hotel is pretty reasonable. Breakfast was full of something for most everyone. We like a light breakfast so the Yogurt and cereal was fine with us but there was more for others. My BIG complaint was the pillow in our King size bed. It […] hurt our necks so bad that both my wife and I ended up putting the pillow on the floor and made a pillow out of our coats! If we would return we would be sure we had our own pillows for sure. "University Hotel, Portland - decent accomodations"
You should know that they charge for parking - $12/ nite when I was there. Also, there is construction going on in the street (Lincoln) in front of the hotel thru the summer of 2012, tho I was not bothered by noise. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. It is a bit of a walk to downtown, but there are trolleys nearby, so you don't really have […] to walk. I would call it very good value for the money, especially if you do not have a car. The staff was very pleasant - everyone I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and quiet. The included breakfast was good. "Great location and price"
We arrived at noon and they let us check in early. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Huge bathroom. I loved not having to deal with an elevator. My husband recognized this hotel as an old Red Lion he had stayed in 20 years ago. Great work out room and breakfast. Sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, fruit, cereals, rolls etc. Very deep outdoor pool […] - not open this time of year. We usually stay down on the waterfront for much higher price. This was very reasonable and close to Keller Auditorium, Portland State, and not far to the waterfront. I will stay here again. Max is right in front. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location bad bed"
We were just looking for overnight stay close to OHSU .Friendly staff, great rate even with parking. But no praise for the sleeping acomodations. this is a convenient place to stay within walking distance to downtown. The free rail line is right across the street. "Adequate, pleasant staff, good location"
I like to walk when I am in Portland and this very cheap hotel allows me to walk into town easily despite it's somewhat out of the way location. Quality of decor s fine - anonymous motel - the pool looked nice (didn't realize it was there or I would have brought my suit!), easy access to the waterfront to run/walk and the staff was pleasant and helpful. "A Nice Hotel But..."
Service and condition of the hotel is a great bargain for the money. My only concern was the level of noise throughout the night. I stayed Saturday and Sunday and both nights I could easily hear people talking, shouting, and carrying on in the adjacent rooms until well into the middle of the night. Granted it was a football game weekend, but I was surprised […] that it also occurred on Sunday night. Thus, a great place to stay but not necessarily for a restful night's sleep. "Clean and Cheap Hotel in Portland"
University place was a perfect hotel for the quick night stay in Portland to go to the Portland Brewers Festival. The hotel is a little out of the Pearl district, but a MAX train is 2 blocks away and is in the FREE zone which doesn't make it a problem. Parking was $12 during our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
