"Huge comfortable room"

Staff was friendly, room was clean. However, at 4PM, well past the designated arrival time, the room was not ready. I was standing in line behind another guest who did not have a reservation; she had just viewed a similar size room and the staff assigned it to her. "Beware of 38% Fees & taxes charged per night"

"Poorly run hotel"
Our stay was over Memorial Day weekend. Our check-in was supposed to be at 3 pm. At 2 pm we checked to see if our room was going to be available at 3 and was assured it would be. At 3 pm our room was not available. Finally at 4:30 we were given our room keys. It was supposed to be a quiet room. It was above the pool which was full of screaming teenagers […] totally out of control with no supervision. They did close the pool down at 10 pm. Our continental breakfast was o.k., but we had to bus our own table. Ketchup bottle was empty and bottles on other tables were also empty. The room was o.k. except for the noise. The decorative dirty pillows were set on top of the clean pillows. When we went to complain about our accomodations we were told the manager would be in on Tuesday. The weekend we stayed was Memorial weekend and there was some kind of baseball tournament, so every room had some kids and they were noisy. I can't blame the hotel for this, but the walls seemed to be pretty thin, especially the sounds from upstairs. The room did have a smoke smell, even though it was a none smoking room. This Red Lion was close to downtown Bend, some local breweries and eatery's! The staff was VERY friendly and helpful with suggestions on things to do and places to go. I think the rooms have been remodeled, because they feel brand new on the inside (not so much from the outside). The room came with a microwave and fridge that were "hidden" in an armoire, which made the room pleasing to the eye. The bathroom was huge (extra sink outside the bathroom), and the shower head was unbelievable! The beds were incredibly comfortable […] as well. Breakfast - outstanding! This is definitely more of an upgraded MOTEL rather than a hotel. The pictures are a bit of an over-sell. With that being said, it is perfectly adequate for a short stay. A very practical hotel in Bend. The general appearance of the hotel building is so so. But the room although not very large, has everything a traveller needs. These include fridge and microwave oven. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. However the air conditioning did not work right the first night so that was pretty uncomfortable. "Good location, comfy bed, strong cigarette odor."
Upon entering the parking lot we immediately noted that the motel was charmlessly dated. As we entered the lobby we were happily checked into the hotel and the process was quick and friendly. We were told our second story room was ready, but there was no elevator. On our way to the room—toting our bags and belongings—we hoped the outward appearance […] was not a harbinger of things to come. Unfortunately our hopes were immediately dashed when we opened the door to inhale a room that smelled of decades of cigarette smoke. As we had traveled for over 10 hours with nothing but a small breakfast we sought-out a restaurant and went for dinner. We discussed moving to another room while we ate and hoped that we were wrong about the smell. When we returned to our room we realized that the odor was absolutely unbearable and we called the office requesting a move. The desk clerk remarked that we could have explained the problem earlier and while at dinner they could have "odorized" the room. Still, we were given an "odorized" room on the first floor. What you may have guessed by now is that "odorizing" is only a temporary method of masking foul odors. If choosing to stay at this motel we recommend that you are either a smoker, or have chronic sinusitis that disables your capability to sniff-out the cow patty that you just stepped into. "Nice option for a quick stay."
We had family in the hospital in Bend and needed a place to get a good night sleep and get a break but still be close by. This was a great option. Very nice and comfortable rooms.
