Nice hotel. Great staff and great location right on the river and walking distance to the university - BUT - boy does it ever need to be brought into this century.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not your typical Double Tree"
Location was excellent! Restaurant was excellent!! Hotel is outdated, feels more like a Motel than a hotel. Our room was way to hot, we turned the thermostat down to 65 and the room never dropped below 78 and eventually had to open the patio door. I mentioned the heat problem to guest services the following morning and was told that we had to turn off […] the thermostat?? We asked for a late checkout so that we could get some much needed sleep and were informed that we would have to pay for a 1/2 day. They ended up giving us an extra hour past their late checkout time but it wasn't easy. It's highly unlikely that we will stay here in the future. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel room was extremely cold."
The staff was great. The room was clean. The room was extremely cold.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is located near the main town and University of Montana. It overlooks the Clark Fork River which was why I selected this hotel. Unfortunately I had a view of the outdoor pool, and not the river. No microwave, no refrigerator and no breakfast as it was "not included" in the Expedia amount that I paid therefore I was a little disappointed. They […] are asking for $18 for a full breakfast if you wish to eat at their restaurant. The room was clean and spacious but I am not a fan of duvets which were too warm for me. The gift shop on the premises was delightful, full of wonderful and interesting clothing, jewelry and souvenirs. The warm cookie that Hilton boasts for people arriving was not warm. "great location, nice rooms"
Overall our stay was pleasant. Downside was that the water in the shower fluctuated to very hot whenever someone used the sink or shower in an another room. The room was not very sound proof because we could hear the footsteps, door closing in the room above. Lastly, it was very disappointing to find that the bar/restaurant closed about 9:30 on Friday […] and was closed Saturday evening as well. Brunch was nice, but a bit pricey for food that looked that looked like it had sat for some time in the chafing dish. Therefore, in retrospect the price seemed a little high. "Most Likely the best place to stay in Missoula"
Not as nice a Doubletree as we have stayed in, it is undergoing renovations, but it is still comfortable, and is a Hilton Brand.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel but needs a few things"
We are Hilton honors members, therefore we upgraded with a slight fee. Hotel did not give our complimentary water or newspaper delivery. The free breakfast was nice thought but burnt bacon isn't a good idea.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in Missoula"
The hotel is located right by the river and it's near I-90. Checking in took less than five minutes, and there's plenty of parking. We even received free cookies! The room was clean, and the bed was nice. However, the shower head alternated between cold and hot water, which wasn't exactly relaxing. Also, the ceiling was thin, and I could hear the people […] above opening and closing the dressers loudly. The breakfast was okay. Good coffee, but the ham was cold. "River view rooms are excellent"
Comfortable rooms and unbeatable if you get a river view room, though would have been very disappointed with a parking lot view room at that Price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is extremely convenient to UM and downtown. Although the rate was high for a parking lot view, the room itself was large and very comfortable. The bathroom is small. This hotel is somewhat of a paradox. Its exterior looks like the roughly 1970s structure that it is. The room interior and bath have been remodeled. The lobby area and, I assume, […] other interior areas have been renovated. We found the restaurant to be quite expensive for the setting and decor. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Older hotel and could use carpeting upgrades but kept clean and comfortable. Staff was very nice to everyone. I will definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay was pleasant at the Doubletree. We were in town at the end of our vacation visiting the University of Montana. The location of this hotel is amazing - we could walk to everything we wanted. Some things about the hotel we weren't impressed with - upon arrival, the "non-smoking" room smelled like it had been a smoking room at one point. It clearly […] wasn't a fresh smelling room. Also when we were getting ready to leave the next morning, the cage covering the lighting fixtures fell out of the ceiling - thankfully I had just stepped out - otherwise would have been hit by this covering! The hotel staff was very friendly. The restaurant was good - however service was very slow. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is close to the university, just across the river. We students like to float rafts down the shallow lazy river on this beautiful summer evening. The hotel is pet friendly. This would be fine if not for the loud woman calling her poddle right outside our balcony.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Needs an update badly."
This hotel is ok. It really needs to be updated. bathroom has old tile, carpet old in rooms and hallways, wall paper old. after taxes and fees paid nearly $200 a night for a queen bed, way over priced.Genuine Expedia guest review

"On the water and near the university but...."
We booked a Jr suite with a river view and for the hefty price in Missoula I expected to be blown away. The room itself was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The river view was great from our balcony but this was not enough to make up for the stale wet smell found in the room as well as the water damaged ceiling that was falling down. […] The staff was all very friendly but the "old hotel smell" of wetness and cigarettes was hard to get past. Seems like it is time for an update to the building not just the beds. "Great River view from the lounge"
Very nice hotel right on the river. The patio lounge and happy hour were a highlight. The staff were not too attentive at breakfast but very much so at diner. There is only one elevator near the lobby so that is the way to enter if your on the second floor.Close to downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The hotel was nice, clean, friendly staff."
The hotel was extremely noisy. People slamming doors and hollering down the hallway at all times during the night. Was impossible to sleep. Was the most unpleasant stay we have ever had at a Doubletree Inn.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Very standard chain hotel with arrival cookies"
This was not exactly what I expected when I made the reservation. For one I thought I was getting a river-facing room which instead I ended up with a pool-facing room. I had bought the breakfast option but disappointed to find out what that got me was a $15 breakfast voucher in the restaurant (so I had to leave a tip which I was not anticipating and […] one person in our group didn't even have enough to cover his coffee and breakfast). It was a little farther from the main downtown area than I expected ( a little too far to walk if you are in a hurry or limited on time to explore). Nice town, very much a hippie college town. The bed was a little too stiff and the room was a little stuffy. Free parking was a bonus and for the most part everything was really clean. Decent bathroom products. We stayed 1 night when we arrived in Missoula and then 2 nights at the end of the vacation before flying home. "Best hotel in Missoula"
Staff at this hotel is always helpful and cheerful. I love the restaurant (Finn and Porter's). There is a great little gift shop on the lobby level. "Graduation Weekend Has Ups and Downs"
I was so glad to use Expedia to find a pleasant room during Graduation Weekend...the town was full! The hotel facility and staff were very nice. The hotel room was large and clean, a priority with me. The staff was pleasant and helpful. If I had a complaint, which is really not fair on this particular weekend, it is that the rate was very high and the […] suggested upgrade for a room with a view of the river (which I was happy to take advantage of) just added to the exorbitant rate for a hotel room in Missoula, Montana. "Perfect! Stay here not there!!!!!!"
It was perfect! The grounds were immaculate and attractive. The cabins were cute but when we walked in, we were floored! The beds were awesome pillow tops with pillows so perfect I thought about taking one.....I didn't though. The shower was wonderful with two heads, a large sunflower style above and a regular one. The large curtains that separated […] the vanity area was a great touch. It's on the water with fir pits across the walkway. The free morning breakfast was not continental.....it was a buffet. "Just an excellent stay"
In Missoula for just two nights and needed a place close to the University. The level of customer service was extremely high as was the quality of the facilities. The view from the dining area and bar is superb and clearly the locals come here for both the view and the food. I stay in Hilton hotels all over the country and usually Double Trees are some of my favorite. I can't believe that Hilton would put their name on an outdated conversion Motel. "Terrible place to stay!"
We had no control over the temperature of our room. The room was so hot we had to open the sliding glass door while it was snowing in order to cool off. The rooms are pet friendly, all of them apparently. I have bad allergies which I just had to deal with. There were three of us and it was very difficult to get dressed and have some privacy. The room […] is fine for couples as far as privacy goes, but add a third person and it gets very challenging to dress. Ammenities were very limited or nonexistent. Coffee was aweful. Cookies were offered as chocolate chip and are really chocolate chip and walnut. The website even says chocolate chip. No warning of the walnuts unless you study the little bag it is in carefully. Staff was friendly but did not really care and maidstaff was really loud very early. It was a terrible experience. I will never return to that hotel and we visit Missoula every couple months. We needed a clean place to sleep and a hot shower in between visiting grandma in the hospital. We had a miserable stay there and even the shower was inadequate. The temperature changed from cold to scalding continuously throughout the shower. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very comfortable and clean"
This hotel had the best fitness room I have ever seen in a hotel, with the most modern equipment, weights, plush towels, and a very clean space. Also, everything about the hotel felt luxurious to me, especially the towels, the bed... The customer service was above and beyond what I expect and I plan to stay there again. Also, it is very convenient to […] downtown. My only trouble was finding the place as there are signs for the hotel where the hotel is not located. As someone with a poor sense of direction, this was a little confusing to me. But now that I know where I am going, I plan to go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful Stay - Minor Dining Disappointment"
This trip was a romantic weekend getaway celebrating my husband's birthday. Overall, our experience was very positive. This hotel is an aging flagship from the late 1960s with unique architecture. A beautiful riverfront location lends an air of retreat from the surrounding city bustle. Our guest room was attractive and clean, with very comfortable beds. […] As a trivial, but nice, touch, the coordinated bath amenities were Coriander & Honey scented. (Women notice & enjoy these small touches.) Our greatest pleasure and disappointment stemmed from the same source: the award-winning Finn and Porter Restaurant. After checking into the hotel, we stopped for appetizers & beverage in the F & P lounge. Our 7p.m. appointment afforded no time for dinner. However, both food and service were excellent, so we enquired if dining after our appointment would be possible. Due to the Easter weekend, our server said closing time would be 11:00 p.m. After our event, we returned shortly after 10 for a late-night dinner at the Finn & Porter. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed. Tired and disappointed, we walked 2 blocks to Burger King, then returned to eat out of paper bags in the hotel room. NOT the romantic candlelit gourmet dinner celebration we expected to enjoy, for sure! The following day redeemed the Finn & Porter's reputation for us. Our attentive server served or retreated appropriately without being intrusive. Brunch was created from high quality fresh ingredients. Compliments! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient to MU; nice restaurant with river views"
We stayed at the hotel while visiting the MU campus. It is within an easy walk to the campus or about a 5 minute drive. The staff were very warm, friendly, and helpful. We had trouble with our television and they had it corrected right away. We had a very nice dinner in the hotel's restaurant which has a nice view of the river. The room was comfortable […] except for the temperature. The hotel was still on 'winter' mode, so only hot air came through the vents when we tried to cool the room. We were advised to leave the fan off and open the door to the balcony to cool the room. This helped, but didn't cool the room enough to allow for a comfortable night's rest. Other than the room temperature, I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Missoula or the MU. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
