"Nice hotel great lounge"
We had a great time...danced in the bar to a great band until closing....then slept like a log...in the morning we had a great breakfast in the hotel...then we soaked in the hot tub

"Yikes!"

"Turning a bad situation into a customer for life!"
We were woken up in the middle of the night because our room was incredibly HOT..I called the front desk and was treated so kindly and the staff member came down quickly and switched our room. I was so overwhelmed by the clerks sincere apology and kindness that I will be a customer for life! Normally a situation like this would have made my trip difficult...but I known now that this Best Western understands customer service!

I checked in late the hotel receptionist was very nice. My room was nicely kept and although on the 1st floor in the back by the Freeway it was very quite. I would stay there again.

"Pet friendly, clean and comfy"
This is a very nice hotel for the price. Rooms on outside have patio doors with easy access to load and unload car or walk our dog. It was surprisingly clean for a pet room so I would highly recommend for anyone who wants luxury with pet in tow.

"Old, tired, dirty"
Don't bother bringing your luggage into the lobby when you check in -- this is a motor-hotel style property (where you drive to another building close to the entry door/stairwell near the room you'll be assigned). Check-in process is slow; front desk clerk was very pleasant but their systems appear to be old and s-l-o-w. Overall the property looks to be about 15 years overdue for a freshening. Hallway and room carpets are old, worn, discolored, and -- well -- dirty. Clearly hadn't been vacuumed in at least few days and hadn't been cleaned/shampooed for at least a year. Room was tired, AC noisy, hot water was barely above warm, and water pressure in the shower was more trickle than stream. If I hadn't been so exhausted from the day's long drive I would have changed hotels. But I'm guessing that's how this hotel stays in business with such a poor quality property.

"Exceptional People during a desperate time of need"
My father has days left on this earth & I needed a place to stay with my dog. Red Lion is pet friendly & when they found out why I was in the area the ladies at the front desk literally asked to pray for me & my family. They were flexible with check in & check out times & gave me such a great rate with minimal hassle for such last minute unexpected travel. I would stay here anytime!

"Red Lion stopover in Redding"
Easy to find off the Interstate, adequate for an overnight stay on the way to somewhere else. Room was clean and ready on arrival, but like most Red Lions, dated appointments. Last renovation was likely in the early 90's. Bed was just little too well used, and the linens, though clean, were getting a bit thin from repeated washings. Location was great, many restaurant choices and stores needed for travel nearby.

"would not recommend"
Walking into the room wing from the parking lot you will first notice the smell of a wet ashtray, the hotel is non smoking. The breakfast will cost you 10 bucks each. The bed was comfortable but when I looked out the window all I saw was cheap plastic outdoor furniture thru the smudges all over the glass. There were only 3 towels provided and only two bags of tea. I will not be staying at the Redding Red Lion again.

Our "Roaring Start" breakfast buffet has a selection of hot and cold breakfast items which exceed the generic continental breakfast items that may be found at other hotels. We also offer rooms with breakfast and some rates are for rooms only without breakfast included. It would be our pleasure to assist you with a reservation that best fits your needs, instead of having to purchase the breakfast separate at the $10 rate. Hope this helps. In regards to the number of towels and teabags provided, our standard is to provide 3 sets of towels for a room with one bed, and 4 sets of towels for a room with two beds. 2 teabags (1 decaf and 1 black tea) are also placed into all rooms. As always, our staff would be more than happy to provide you with extra towels, tea, or anything you may need. You may even make these requests ahead of time. My wife and I stayed at the Red Lion over Christmas. Really, it wasn't much more than a place to sleep and bathe, because we spent the days with family at their house. While having enough heat in Redding is rarely an issue (we've seen our share of 80 degree Christmases and Thanksgivings, and lots of very hot summer days), this year (2014) it was. And our room was freezing. The heater blew cold(ish) air, and the hot water in the shower was merely tepid. We complained to the front desk, and, thankfully they gave us one of the many space heater that they had. This seems to be an issue. They couldn't do anything about the luke warm showers, though. But the room was clean, the wifi worked, and the bed was comfortable, which is more than I can say about a lot of more expensive places I've stayed over the years.

"Missed the mark"
We are fans of Red Lion Inns so were happy to find one in Redding, Ca on our road trip home. The front desk clerk was very friendly, which is always appreciated. The room was large and the beds comfortable, but we could not get the HVAC to operate properly. My wife moved the thermostat to 72 and the room heated fine. The problem was lowering the temp back to 68 and turning the fan down. The temp button control (UP/DOWN arrows)did not function, nor did the fan control. There was only one other button (Fahrenheit/Centigrade)so the room stayed too hot and the fan would not go off. Very disappointing. Also, even though the hotel is pet-friendly, there is not one speck of grass on the exterior perimeter of the property..only rocks. We didn't check the interior grounds, so can't say if we didn't just miss that. Our room was ok otherwise, although in need of refurbishment and a good cleaning.

"A three night stay"
Overall, not a bad hotel. There were bundles of long hair that did not belong to me in the restroom and the rooms seem a bit older otherwise it was an okay stay. The hallways seem really long and dim so it's a bit eerie late at night and I was told that I should always park the car in the front ... hmmm ... interesting. Staff was helpful and it was good to see the security around.

"A comfortable bed."
The most important feature of a room is the bed. After all, the main reason to stay in a motel is to get some rest while you're travelling. Most motels have mattresses that are too firm for me to get a good nights sleep. Not so for the Red Lion. I slept very well.

"A little less than we thought..."
Was a little dissapointed in the size of the room for the price. Also, when choosing the room we asked for one romm and received another, smaller, room. We requested a non smoking room, which it was, but the floor directly above us was smoking rooms. We had a chain smoker out on the balcony almost the entire night, which made it hard for us to use the patio area.

"An average property, a little old and noisy"
Older property, and in some places it shows but generally not in a really bad way. Toilet seat showed a lot of wear, hallways had a distinctive smell, no elevators to the second floor. Biggest complaint had to be hallway noise. Could do better with staff, maid service starts knocking on doors at 8am on a Saturday morning - I get it that you need to turn over rooms ASAP, but its a rude wake up, especially with how hallway noise transmits. All said, I'd still use this hotel on future trips, the staff is friendly and most of the problems were minor and could be easily addressed (which is the bigger frustration)
