First, the WiFi was slow. But free which is better than a few other hotels. The staff were polite, helpful and knowledgable. Good location being only a short walk to anything you could want. Try two blocks around for a restaurant; all good. Breakfast is two blocks towards Union Square on the right hand side. All trolley buses are easy to find.

A quaint old building that is still the Elks Lodge and the site of a theater. Definitely not a cookie-cutter box. Smallish room with tasteful decor and a very comfortable bed. Large bathroom. Informal tea and sherry in the lobby was wonderful. Very close to everything. Our only two disappointments were the lack of the advertised 24-hour coffee (never saw any) and an annoying flashing light on the back of the large TV (security light? Just covered it with a hand towel). If we get back to San Fran again, we will definitely stay there again!

Despite our room being a tad small we had a very enjoyable stay here. This hotel is in a great location. It is close to Union Square and all the shops. Also cable cars and buses were very close by. The staff is very welcoming, friendly and eager to please. They were happy to give us restaurant recommendations and directions which helped us a lot. Also very important, the room was clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend the Kensington Park Hotel to family and friends.

It was my second time staying at Kensington Park, and I absolutely love this place... especially for the price. You can't beat the location, the staff is friendly, and they have little perks like OJ and coffee in the morning (no coffeemaker in the room, but I never bother with those anyhow) and sherry and tea in the afternoon. It is less than a block from Union Square, and walking distance to Chinatown and some cool bars and restaurants in the Tenderloin. I like the historic feel of the place - I think it was built in 1923. However, I guess some people might not see the charm. My only complaint was that the room keys kept getting demagnetized - it hasn't happened to me at any other hotel, so I don't think the other contents of my purse are entirely to blame, as the front desk employee suggested.

Found this on forth of July weekend. Needed a place for the night and we booked online at the starbucks and walked over. The rooms were great awsome beds I never slept so good. Flat screens in room and even next to street pretty quite. They gave us option of front or back of building for noise. Wow I didn't know people cared about that stuff. Great! They next night we had previous reservations at the Balwin. Wish we would of stayed at this hotel instead. The Baldwin is horrible!

Right on Union Square, this lovely historical building is in great shape. You know what I mean - marble baths, comfy beds, flat screen tv's. The rooms are small but quiet and perfect. The coffee in the morning is the best! We go every year, and if we can't stay at the KP, we just won't go. Love the staff. There is even a theater in the building so you can see a great play and take the elevator home. I probably shouldn't tell everyone about this super hotel.

This is one of Union Squares oldest hotels but you would never know it by the modern fixtures in the rooms, free wifi and modern voicemail system. They keep a touch of the old classic style to every aspect of the hotel. The lobby was kept in it's original state with brass keys still in the old room pigeon holes now filled with antiques. Quiet, comfortable and in a great location. Highly reccommend!

My Husband and I recently stayed at the Kensington Park Hotel for 7 nights 4th -11th March 2009. Reading the the reviews from other travellers who had stayed here helped us with our decision to stay and the fact that our son was performing with the show "Burn the Floor " in the Theatre which is located on the second floor of the the Hotel . It was perfect the Theatre is well sound proofed so no need to worry about noise, you couldn't here a thing. Although our booking form and the Hotel booklet in our room stated check in time was 2pm . When we arrived at the hotel we were told check in was 3pm which was not a big problem for us as we were greeted by a lovely friendly staff member who offered to look after our luggage and suggested a cafe or bar close by where we could go while our room was being prepared. Our room was on hte 10th floor and was exactly as the pictures show on the website. It was lovely and clean, fresh and very appealing. We had a King sized most comfortable bed. The Hotel is in an excellent location right beside Union Square. Staff and service were excellent we were always greeted with a friendly smile and big hello! Would I recommend this Hotel !!! Yes indeed in a Heart Beat. we would definitely go back to San Francisco and the Kensington Park Hotel would be a must, Great Staff, Great Service, Great Hotel and the Show is a must see too. Thank to all.

Hotels location was absolutely perfect! One block off Union Square, across from the Westin and walking distance to a piano bar and several restraunts. A $10 cab ride to Fishermans Wharf and about a $7 cab ride to Little Italy. Two blocks from a "Culture Bus" stop and Muni bus stop. Take the Culture Bus to the Academy of Sciences. Sounds boring but it was so cool! Hotel staff was friendly and accomodating; rooms were very well designed with great decor and were small but comfortable.

nice staff and well appointed room. No AC so room was stuffy, but opening window let in too much noisy street traffic sounds. Also, hate the trend toward charging for bottled designer water ($3 and $5 sized Voss) and the parking was expensive and you had to wait 20-30 min for them to bring it around ($35 but they do have in and our privledges). there is less expensive parking in the neighborhood if you don't mind looking for it. good food and shopping options.
